At this point we know its a two alarm fire. The number one priority is saving people inside, number two of course is saving the structure itself. If we can go back to those pictures that viewers sent us. This fire was first called in at about 4 45. Just about 15 minutes ago. It shows you the quick work that firefighters made of this fire. Look at that. That thick black smoke. The flames, i dont know if that building is under construction or not. I cant tell from that picture. Its only been 15 minutes or so since weve been fighting this fire. As we go back to the live picture. You can see it looks as though they pretty much have that fire just about out. Based on the lack of smoke and the fact that its white smoke. At this point well get some answers here because we have mindy talmage. Are you with us and what can you tell us about the fire . This is now a two alarm fire. I dont have an exact address but its dolores and 14th in the castro. Its a pretty large dust fire. Got into a penthouse, up into the attic. We have crews in the building surrounding that. Making sure theres no one in the building. They do have water on the fire. And it appears theyre going to be getting it under control pretty quickly now. Can you tell us, is it a condo building, apartments. Are there people inside, were there evacuations. I know it is a six Story Building with a penthouse on the top. Im not sure if there was anybody home at the time. We definitely received calls from buildings surrounding. There are no injuries reported. Have you evacuated any of the near by buildings or because you got this fire out so quickly that was not necessary . Generally with a fire that size we would evacuate the surrounding building, just to make room for the crews there and check the buildings as well. Is it safe to say that for the most part this fire is out . I would say theyve got a very good handle on it right now. There are no reported injuries so thats always good news. Im at a little loss right now for words to express the best words for what today means, but i think you know and understand any way. Then 11yearold aaron suffered serious leg injuries when he was hit by shrapnel from the bombs. In boston, a wreath was layed at the site of the bombings and a moment of silence at 2 49 p. M. The moment the first bombs bombs exploded. We share the same fear, the same hopes the same community. The only surviving suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev faces death of life in prison. Prosecutors say they have a lot of evidence in the case that include Surveillance Video that they say shows Dzhokhar Tsarnaev actually putting one of the bombs near the finish line at the Boston Marathon. Authorities say they also have a handwritten confession on the inside of the boat where tsarnaev was captured. The city are spending thousands of dollars to prevent what happened last year. Why the bay area is seen as a high risk area. That story coming up at 6 00. A cab driver struck a woman in a wheelchair. Were told the accident happened just about two hours ago at the intersection of levenworth and mccallister street. The cab driver stopped at the scene. The woman who was hit had minor injuries and is expected to survive. The Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow is charged with several counts of Money Laundering and conspiring. Tomorrow cadaver dogs will be brought in to make sure there are no bodies inside. Fire Officials Say it will be tough to pin point pinpoint the cause of the fire because of all the debris. Well look through the burn pattern, how the metal is twisted. Signatures that can be found in the building. Reporter there was a concern that this could have been a cooking fire or arson. Investigators say it will be weeks before they can determine a fire. Officers will go on patrol in san jose. These are live pictures from the ground. You can see there were a lot of firefighters who quickly deployed to put out that fire. They pretty much got that fire out in a matter of minutes. Now we have live chopper 2 pictures over head. It was a six Story Building. And the fire was con fired to that penthouse at the top of this building. It started as a cooking fire there in the penthouse. These live pictures from high above do show us that firefighters appeared to have made quick work of getting that two alarm fire out. These of course were pictures posted on twitter just moments after the fire started. You see a lot of thick black smoke coming up from the building. And we saw the San Francisco skyline in the back. But the scene has really changed dramatically. Firefighters having taken that fire out. The fire started just before 4 00 this morning at the townhome on morings court. This is cell phone video shows how intense the fire was. Flames were shooting out of the window in the second floor. The woman who live there is says she rounded up her children and got them all out through the thick smoke. We lost everything. I have a 6 weekold. I have seven children. We have nothing anymore. I mean nothing, nothing. We dont even have shoes on our feet. We lost everything. But like i said before im glad we have one another. Reporter fire Officials Say the fire started in the garage. At this point the cause is under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious. New at 5 00, voting season began today in the south bay. Now in normal years five southbound reservoirs would open for the boating season but the drought has pretty much ended those plans. However, plan of the season has been salvaged. Robert handa joins us from the areas largest reservoir which did open in a some what surprising way. Reporter it was a very unexpected turn of events. Anderson reservoir was going to remain closed. But when supplies were pumped in, officials determined that the water was high enough for people to have some fun. Boaters know the recreational users got a break. Anderson and morgan hill was not supposed to be available when boating season opened today because of the drought. Officials had planned to open just one facility, collateral reservoir. But when the Water District began pumping in federal water to make sure the south bay had enough drinking walter this summer it raised andersons level enough the county Parks Department decided to open up the 7mile lake for at least part of the season. Everybody is really happy to be here. Were really excited to open up the reservoir finally after many months of being closed we finally opened. Were very, very very excited about that. Reporter boaters were obviously just as excited about 30 boats and numerous people with fishing poles came to anderson on the first day. Anderson is beautiful. Especially when you have to worry about the water scarce. You have so much of a water way that you dont have to deal with them. It was really nice to have Something Big and wide where you can tuck away and hide away basically and have fun still. The fishing is great. It was better this year, the fish were really good.
