New information tonight on the identity of a 15yearold boy who was shot and killed at a birthday party. Nay tan Nathan Torrence was shot in the face. Witnesses say the shooter left the scene in a blue compact nissan driven by a female. Also today, we learned the name of a man who was killed by a vta train in san jose. It happened last night at the south expressway and stokes street. 59yearold Michael Felter was walking his neighbors car when the dog got lose. Felter chased after the dog and he got hit. Its the second time someone has been hit by a train at this same section. The system features a stainless steel wire net 20 feet below the pedestrian walk way and stretching 20 feet out from the sides of the bridge. The barrier was approved six years ago but never funded. The district says 46 people jumped from the span just last year. On friday, officials will work on the funding which includes 20 million from district reserves. His attorney tells us he may argue selfdefense. Its a school that helps High Schoolers graduate. Its right next to the Old Administration building and they dont want it closed even temporarily while this building is constructed. The School District says tomorrow they will go ahead though and ask for bids for rebuilding. They met outside to make their signs. Teachers, students and Community Activists say they do not want duey academy to be moved. Duey does not need to be relocated for condos. Reporter protesters filled the room for the meeting of this 7 11 committee an 11 member group that passes the best options to the School District. Insurance money thats paying for rented office space will run out in about two years. Duey academy is next door and adjacent to a parcel of land where the city is allowing construction of a 24 story residential high rise. The Development Core offered a deal. They would rebuild the Administration Building and dewey on one acre of the land in exchange for building another 700 to 800 units where Dewey Academy now stands.
