Weve had rain showers in guerneville. This is going to help firefighters out greatly in Northern California as this moist system moves onshore. You see the showers are still well to the north of us, up near eureka. The showers are now moving into the fire zones, up by happy camp, up towards weed. A big time help for firefighters, as we move into a different weather pattern. 90degrees in the fire zone. The last couple of days 15 humidity. Watch what happens tomorrow, it brings rain showers to Northern California, maybe a quarter inch of rain in some places. Humidity is going to quadruple, and go up 40 or 20 in some places. It also means showers here. Ill have the specifics on that after the break. Now to the raging king fire in el dorado fire. Fire officials tell us it has doubled in size in the past 24 hours. There is still no end in sight. This is the fire closest to the bay area. Its burning along highway 50 at Pollock Pines. Amber lee has been there each night this week. She joins us now live, and tells us, hundreds of people dont know if theyre homes are going to make it. Reporter julie, were just off of highway 50 here at Pollock Pines. Take a look behind me. If you look closely, youll be able to see the orange glow just behind those trees. Fire crews tell me, theyre burning a line around it to keep it from spreading. The people forced to evacuate are still waiting, and worrying about their homes. As night fell, this family was outside. Keeping an eye on the smoke plumes thats emanating from the king fire. You can go right around this corner, you can see the smoke. The smoke plumes, and you can kind of gauge how its moving. Reporter one indication is towards her home. She and her family are now staying in a motel after evacuating yesterday. In the morning, it brings the smoke back into this direction. So its like waking up to a mist. Yes. Like being in a stephen king movie. Reporter own this is real. Fire Officials Say more than 120,000 homes are threatened. Sad. Fearful, a little bit. But theres some point where you just realize you cant control it. Reporter control of this fire continues to elude fire crews. They describe the king fires behavior as extreme, and active. It has now grown to almost 38,000 acres, more than doubling its size just since yesterday, but containment is only 5 . Right now, were trying to think of the containment line on the south side of the fire, and well just keep moving steadily until we can get a box around it, and stop that fire. Reporter it was easy to spot the large plume of smoke that looked like a cloud in the distance. Up close, the fire spread in several directions, sparking more anxiety. There were communities that got evacuated today. It did have enough of an impact on communities. Reporter this family hopes the weather shifts in their favor. Just on the verge of tears. And then you get past that. Reporter fire officials do not have an estimate for when crews will get the upper hand. In far Northern California, crews now have 60 containment on a wildfire that has devastated the small lumber town of weed. Losses there are staggering. 150 buildings damaged, or destroyed, including 110 homes. The Community North of i5 north of shasta lake is pulling together to support one another. Reporter there is nothing left at the alvarado home. The swing set melted with only the chimney left standing. A lifetime. We lived there three years and two weeks. Reporter there was barely enough time to grab a few of their most precious belongings. Mostly photo albums. My wedding ring. Reporter phillip lost his motorcycles and comic books going back to 1961. About 300 of them. Reporter even though the alvarados lost everything in their home, for some reason, phillip felt compelled to check the mailbox. Its happened again, another nfl player being accused by domestic violence. Police in phoenix arrested Arizona Cardinals running back, Jonathan Dwyer after practice. This is his mug shot from the maracopa county jail. Police say the case involves a 27yearold woman, and an 18 monthold child. Dwyer is facing five counts stemming from two incidents at his home in late july. One of the charges is aggravated assault, causing a fracture. The cardinals have deactivated him for sundays game with the 49ers. The owners of the Minnesota Vikings say they made a mistake, and are now barring running back, Adrian Peterson from all activities. Peterson was charged with child abuse after hitting his 4year old son with a switch. We value the community, and especially our fans. In the end, it really is about getting it right. The vikings benched peterson last weekend, then they reactivated him for the game coming up on sunday. That prompted a backlash, and criticism from fans, sponsors, and politicians. Peterson remains on the payroll, but cannot return to the team until his case is resolved. If it does go to trial, it means he may not return until next year. Two bay area congresswomen are calling on the nfl to crackdown on players accused of domestic violence. Ray mcdonald has been arrested for felony domestic abuse, but not been charged. Niners have allowed him to play, citing due process. Anything for football. Im an avid 49er fan, but this is disgusting. I expect more from my 49ers. Our coach says that, you know, innocent until proven guilty, due process, all of that. But the fact is, he shouldnt have played. The two bay area democrats said players should be suspended until evidence can prove innocence, or guilty. The raiders owner, mark davis is now speaking out. He told the mercury news he feels the same way. A couple from daly city says they were ripped off by a thief who posed as a Water Department worker, and some of the things that were stolen can never be replaced. Reporter she says last friday, a man carrying two phones came to her backdoor. And he had a piece of paper, and he was telling me about rust in the water. He says thats what im here to check. So i said, well we dont have rust. He says but we have to check it. Reporter while she and the man were in the bathroom. He was here like this. Reporter she says another person she never saw must have been in her bedroom, stealing her safe and rings. I had all of her jewelry. Im mad. I even cry. Reporter similar scams have also happened recently in San Francisco, sunset district, and in burlingame. We have investigators assigned to this case. Part of their follow up is theyre going to contact other Bay Area Police agencies. Reporter police say theyre looking for a hispanic man, 35, to 40 years old, with a medium build, and short hair. So i believed him. Which i shouldnt have. Reporter police are urging people to call them first, before allowing anyone they dont know into their home. In daly city, rob roth, ktvu news. How a special needs student was picked up early, and dropped off alone. Rain showing up. The system moving south, and when parts of the bay area could start seeing showers. Next, a bay area mom dying of Breast Cancer, but she had one last dance that she wouldnt miss for the world. During the dance, i certainly was weeping. How her family is drawing strength from this inspirational moment at her sons wedding. It was very special. Reporter ryans mother, 61 yearold mary ann manning, was not going to led the deadly disease stop her from fulfilling a dream. She said this was her goal. She wanted to get to this wedding, and she didnt care how she did it. Reporter and she wanted to dance. Determined to beat the wreckage of cancer on her body, mary ann placed her hands on her sons shoulders, and the two delicately swayed to somewhere over the rainbow. I think that everybody kind of realized what they were seeing. They were seeing an incredibly strong woman doing a magnificent thing. A miracle. Reporter a miracle, her family says, because months before the wedding it appeared mary ann was losing her battle, confined to a wheelchair. It was incredibly emotional, especially to see her pop out of the wheelchair. For the days leading to, we were helping her do everything. Even walk. To see her jump up, it was just amazing. Reporter an inspirational display of determination, and tearful show of a mothers love. Absolutely, no doubt that that woman, you know, a very strong woman, fought incredibly hard to get to that point. Reporter it is a moment these three siblings will treasure forever. Three days later, on september 8, their mother would pass away, leaving a family heartbroken, but with a heart warming memory. [ music ] mary anns children tell me that they have no doubt that their mom was living for that wedding. Exactly 72 hours after the ceremony began at 5 30 p. M. Is when mary ann took her last breath. A Memorial Service will be held on saturday in pleasantton. Frank and julie, isnt that one of the most touching and Sweetest Things that youve ever seen . The legal battle over American Flag tshirts at a high school in morgan hill appears to be over now. A federal Appeals Court in San Francisco declined to hear the case. You may recall four years ago, Live Oak School asked students who wore American Flag tshirts on Cinco De Mayo to turn them inside out, and that caused an uproar. In february, the three judge panel found the school was justified in doing that, because of racial tension on campus. Two fast food workers in antioch shutting down because of bad student behavior. Customers can still use the drive through at the taco bell on lone tree way, but no one is allowed inside between 3 00 and 4 30 p. M. The same goes for the mcdonalds in the shopping center. Restaurant managers decided to temporarily shut down their diners after school, citing student fights, vandalism, and loitering. This is the man wanted by San Francisco police for shooting sunday august 31. Investigators say around 2 15 p. M. , the suspect was driving near the section of golden gate avenue and broadway street, when he encountered the victim on foot. Saw her yelling, and the guy was crossing the street. This way. The car was coming this way. Reporter this man, who asked us to call him ronald, says he saw the entire incident from his apartment window. The car almost hit him, so he went whats up . The victim and the suspect got into a verbal altercation. The suspect then drove away a short distance and began shooting. Reporter police say those shots were fired from 30, to 50 feet away. Then the suspect got closer and fired even more shots. The victim was struck at least two times. I was looking out the window, and i saw the guy laying on the ground. Reporter the suspect drove off in a car similar to this. Its described as a silver, or gray newer honda civic or accord. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap on backwards, possibly red in color, with a flat brim. They say this a random shooting, because the two men did not know each other. If you know anything about this case, youre asked to call San Francisco police. Paul chambers, ktvu news. The family of missing 87 yearold man from bellmont is asking for help finding him. He was spotted at a camp ground near the town of mcleod. His family is now offering a 5,000 reward. Its a 1956 Gray Mercedes convertible. The Family Says Police stopped looking for him after they ran out of leads. Now that the fire in that town of weed has started, thats also strapping their resources.
