Reporter it was a chaotic scene, as fire crews rushed in. The call was for a wildlands fire, but a handful of homes were already burning. Fortunately, no fears of anyone trapped. They were evacuating people as we were pulling up. We got Information Way early on, that all the houses had been evacuated. Reporter this young woman rushed to help an elderly neighbor. Oh, my gosh, it hurts so bad. Yelling for her, because she cant hear very well, then she saw me and was like, we have to go. Reporter another fire fight was happening behind the houses. It appears the fire started, and spread to a row of eucalyptus trees that created a buffer between the backyards and 101. Cal fire dropped water on the eucalyptus, dry, and oily. Wind was blowing the fire on the ground, several factors pushing this fire. Reporter shut down by flames and smoke, which snarled the evening commute as it was just beginning. Some fire victims were still at work and returned to find their homes in ruins. Those trees should have been cut down a long time ago. Theyre roman candles. This fire is now heading toward drainage and croix road. To saw firefighters battling the loma fire have their work cut out for them is an understatement. At the southern end of the fire line, crews worked quickly to put out these explosive flames, ranging as high as 60 feet. Getting hot. Today crews have been able to get in and building a lot more fire line, and reinforcement fire lines, and holding fire lines. The city of San Francisco also approved an ordinance banning public spending in states with lgbt laws. The governor also signed three bus safety measures. New charter buses will be required to have emergency lights and companies will have to offer safety briefings to passengers. Another gives the chp more authority to inspect charter buses. A wrong way driver led Oakland Police on a chase tonight that ended with a crash involving seven vehicles, including two police cruisers. It all started when officers began chasing a van on westbound interstate 580, just before 7 00 tonight. The driver of that van got off the freeway at oakland avenue, then went the wrong way up a ramp onto eastbound 580 heading in the wrong direction. The crash happened at the harrison on ramp.
