Including Second Degree assault on a Police Officer and child abuse. On this Ash Wednesday the oldest catholic parish in colorado is picking up the pieces after an overnight fire. It happened at our lady of guadalupe in conejos in the san luis valley. The parish was founded 162 years he ago and the church was videoed in our spanish Heritage Church last october. The fire appears to have started in the back of the church added onto the building. There was another fire 90 years ago to the day at this church. Parishioners told us last fall the church means so much to them. Its just inspiring. Its inspiring and so thats how i look at our lady of Guadalupe Church here. Its a special church for everyone in the community. Special, incredibly beautiful. We dont have any information yet about how the fire started the Conejos County Sheriffs Office is investigating and the Colorado Bureau of investigation is helping in that investigation. Four of the estimated 500 oil and Gas Companies in colorado have told state regulators they cannot meet an april 1st deadline to comply with new safety rules. They require precautions like remote shutoff devices for wells and anchors to keep them from falling over during floods or if theyre within a government designated flood plain. Colorado oil and Gas Commission imposed the rules after the 2013 floods caused spills and 91,000 gallons of oil in polluted water. There were as many as 15 spills. Companies had until february to ask for a waiver for an extension the 1st of february. Peterson Energy Operating and pdc energy asked for more time to retrofit more than 200 wells, tanks and other facilities that they operate. The commission has not acted on those requests. Doctors say explosions like this are happening more frequently as more people vape. There appears to be some sort of connection with either rechargeable batteries having been overcharged or some moisture that gets into the casing and then it causes an explosion. In the past 12 months doctors in the burn center at university of colorado hospital have treated six patients from severe burns from exploding e cigarettes. This story just boggles the mind. They have just discovered hundreds of new galaxies in space just past our galaxy, the milky way. Scientists from australia, south africa, the United States and netherlands used radio telescopes to cut through the haze of the milky way. The dust of our galaxy obstructs our view of deep hard to see distant ones shining through regular telescopes. So sciences used radio waves telescopes to explore this previously unobserved area. Weve known for a long time the milky galaxy like other galaxies has attracted Gravitational Waves by some mass in that particular direction and for a long time nobody knew what that mass is and so this could potentially help answer that question, what is this great attractor . Could it be these galaxies . Again most of the newly discovered galaxies are located in a previous dark or unexplored region of space. They are about 250 million light years from earth which scientists consider close in cosmic terms. If she could have come even within Single Digits, that would have been a major victory for her to stay that close. Nevada could be touch and go, too, for her . She should do much better in South Carolina where the African American vote makes up about half of the democratic electorate and in nevada the latino vote is substantial and could sway that vote. She is polling about 31 in both those communities in both two Better Outcomes for clinton. Kelly, donald trump doing very well. Does he march through the south like New Hampshire . What do you think . Potentially donald trump has been i think a surprise for everybody, but when it comes to Bernie Sanders, i think its really important to note that yesterday Hillary Clinton lost every single income segment under 200,000. And donald trump won all of those categories. He won all of those and he did really well and frankly, the fact that he has a lot of anger and hes expressing it continuously is it really something that is playing with voters who are frustrated with the course of the country right now. Oh, i think the republicans are way more worried about trump than the democrats are. We would love to run against donald trump. Middle of february. Here we are as we sat in the mid60s this afternoon. It felt fantastic. 75 in pueblo, lamar, springfield, trinidad in the 70s and even up in the high country they were able to bask in all that sunshine and a relatively mild day in the 30s and 40s as well. Cooled off but not bad, mostly cloudy, winds sustained out of the west, 16 miles per hour. So again its been breezy at times. Here in the backyard or temperatures sitting in the low 60s as well. The winds will be with us throughout the rest of this evening, especially if you live around the foothills. You can see theyve been in that 30 to 40 mileperhour range. I think over the course of the next couple hours thats the worst of it. Theyll begin to weaken slightly by morning only to increase once again by tomorrow afternoon when youre back here joining us. We could be talking about more wind gusts in that 30 to 40 mileperhour range from estes park down towards idaho springs. Meanwhile up and down the i25 corridor and the Eastern Plains it should be quieter. The chinook rains raced off the foothills and the dry air funnels through and it picks up speed and wrings out the moisture. It helped warm up our temperatures significantly. Thats why we see days like that give you hope springtime is around the corner. Heres the deal. A strong storm system pressing into parts of the midwest bringing them some cold, cold air. This lingers into new england as well. High pressure is still back in action across much of the west. We will have this little front that pushes through, just nudges into eastern colorado tomorrow afternoon. That will bring us a few more clouds, a slight cooloff compared to today, but thats about it.
