Also developing tonight, a woman pushing a stroller across the street in center city is hit and killed by a septa bus. The infant in the stroller was rushed to the hospital. David spunt is at 23rd and chestnut where this accident happened. Reporter it all happened behind me about 5 00 today. That infant is expected to survive but this is such a sad story tonight. Police and septa authorities are working to figure out exactly what happened. Philadelphia police say a woman in her early 60s was pushing a stroller. She was hit and killed by a septa bus making a left on Chestnut Street just after 5 00 monday evening. Inside the stroller was a baby. Reporter the Police Captain was on the scene moments after the accident. Authorities rushed the infant to chop for observation. According to authorities the septa bus was full at the time though no one on board was injured. The driver on scene talking with our accident investigation officer now. Reporter the captain told Eyewitness News it appears the woman was walking in or very close to the crosswalk when she was hit though a final determination about the rightofway will be made at any time. Its tragic at any time, especially here at center city with all the bus traffic we try to avoid all this at all costs. Reporter authorities are not releasing any names. Theyre going to be looking at Surveillance Video of the accident. Septa official told me earlier this evening that they are cooperating with police on this investigation. It ended with the attacker dead and 11 people injured. Authorities in ohio say it appears this is possibly an act of terrorism. Reporter investigators executed a search warrant monday night at the home of a 18yearold student. He jumped his car over a curb and plowed through a group of people gathered outside after a fire alarm went off. He got out of the car and began stabbing people nearby with a butcher knife. Need medics as soon as possible. All patients are alert and oriented but severe bleeding out of some of them. Reporter University Police officer was nearby. He shot and killed the man just a minute after the mayhem began. One student heard a loud crash then saw a cloud of smoke. People like really running and really screaming im like oh, this is something going on. And then i heard the three gunshots. Reporter investigators. Said what motivated the attack, but a Law Enforcement source tells cbs news arton posted on facebook he was sick of the way muslims are being treated everywhere. The council of American Islamic relations said while the moetive isnt note, they condemn the violence. We would like to urge everyone not to jump to jump to coop inclusions. Responding to such a senseless act of violence with hate is never the solution. Reporter the 11 people injured include faculty and students. One is in critical condition. As the events unfolded, the university sent out alerts to students and the instructions were clear. Run, hide, fight. Those three actions are used in campuswide training to indicate an active threat. The response was immediate as students barricaded themselves in classrooms while waiting about two hours for the allclear. A man is arrested in Delaware County in what police are calling a case of ethnic intimidation. This is the suspect. Last week in a convenience story parking lot in upper darby, police say he had words with two muslim women. He then allegedly lifted his shirt to reveal a hand gun. He has a concealed carry permit. He makes this statements he makes about go back to africa and then intimidation threatens these two women for no apparent reason they were so frightened that they removed their head scarfs. Police searched the mans mercedes and his parents home finding ammunition, guns and smoke grenades. They also found 5,000 and cash and a glock in his bedroom. Police have the weapons while they work to determine if they are all legal. The search is on in bensalem for a suspect police say broke into a womans apartment over the weekend and sexually assaulted her while her child was also inside. Natasha brown picks up the story in bensalem. Reporter a bensalem woman awoke to find a stranger hovering over her inside her apartment. She was asleep her couch. Suddenly a man was in there. And they got into a fight. Police say the victim began struggling with the burglar who then sexually assaulted her before running from the scene. It was 5 00 a. M. On saturday november 26th and the womans child witnessed the frightening encounter. Her child was right there. The child woke up from hear the mother fight with the individual. So obviously this is about as dangerous of a situation as a citizen can encounter. Police believe the man gained entry through an epiwindow or door. Investigators say he was captured on Surveillance Video about a quarter mile from the scene looking disheveled and breathing heavily. It really terrifies you to think this can go on. I myself in a lower level unit and anybody could really gain access if they tried. Its pretty surprising because we can, this neighborhood is considered to be pretty safe i would say. Its pretty shocking. Reporter neighbors are on a heightened state of alert t not taking their safety for granted. Its very scary to think that youre so vulnerable. And you dont want to be naive, but there again im going to step things up a little bit and be more aware. Reporter police tell us this suspect may be a homeless man who is familiar with the area. A 15yearold boy waiting for the school bus is shot in wilmington it happened around 6 45 this morning. The ninth grader got on the school bus after he had been shot and medical help was called.
