The shooting happened just before 11 00 last night. There is no word on the identity of the victim, and police are still looking for that shooter. A Philadelphia Police cruiser catches fire after a hitandrun crash in south philadelphia. The search on this morning for the driver who fled that scene. The officer was pulled out of the car, just before it burst into flames. Eyewitness News Reporter matt rivers, has the story. The police car burned at 28th and tasker in south philly. An eyewitness shot this individual joe around 63 right about the time Dante Johnson jumped off his couch. Two houses from the car he describes what he saw as he raised toward the flames. Literally like the fourth of july. Seemed like the hot at the got, the more it spread, the more it was like popping. Moments earlier this pickup truck had blown a stop sign, including with the police cruiser. The officer was stuck inside. Dazed, his door wedged shot, the engine caught fire. Seeing the flame, me and couple of other people ran to the cop car, pulled the cop car out, got him to safety. Meanwhile the driver of the pickup truck had fled and passenger in the truck was taken to the hospital. Both Crash Victims were safe. Yes, we are expect being 2500 runners and walkers today, a lot of families, whose children have cancer, a lot of people out here supporting them, and also, just a lot of people who want to come out and support alexs Lemonade Stands. And so many events that you guys hold each year, and this is just one of them. Is this like one of the things that kids can really get involved in . Because there is a little dash run for the kids. Yes, this is a great family event. We have a kid dash for younger kids, where they just do like allout race, 100 yards, and then a lot of families run and walk together, in fact, my son and i, it was our first 5k together. I touched so many families tell me this was their childs first 5k. Night that is course. It is verree toys get to, park something great, so families come down, there is a lot of activities here, too, and just have great time and support a good cause.
