They are really the alternative reality of the conservative media fever swamps here. And i think this is going to be a real problem. You asked the fundamental question. Who does this add . Donald trump is hemorrhaging with women, with College Educated whites. Hes hemorrhaging with minorities. Hes hemorrhaging with young people. And what does he do . He goes out and hires the head of one of the most extreme, bizarre, conservative media websites. A guy with no political the far, far right, on the altright will alienate the party. John harwood was reporting that a top gop strategist told him that the Trump Campaign shakeup will accelerate a party move to shift resources downballot away from donald trump. Is that something you see happening . You know, originally, there was talk of the rnc pulling the plug entirely on the flailing Trump Campaign. While i think thats unlikely, i certainly think its likely that the rnc will shift resources into its most Competitive Senate races and there are increasingly Competitive Senate races as the democrats look to expand the map. You know, even though Republican Senate candidates are running about eight to ten points ahead of trump, if donald trump is down ten points in pennsylvania, a competitive candidate like pat toomey can run nine points ahead and still lose that race. Thats an increasing concern to the rnc and republicans across the country who want to keep trump at arms length. And charlie, one of the things that you do hear when you talk with some republican strategists, theyll go to 2010 or 2014. Theyll look at A Scott Walker being able to survive the recall effort. But do you have a concern that when you return to a general electorate, a lot of the 2010 seant seats are now up. So i would warn against overusing words like racism, then gives people like the trump surrogate who was on before, the ability to try to slough off the real genuine issue that i think were confronting right now. Bannons invite, if you want to call it that was that clinton would actually be better to attack, if you were to focus on facts, on tangible records, and not get into the kind of heavy breathing rumor and Conspiracy Theory that has marked most of the republican criticism of her to date. And so through this nonprofit, the Government Accountability institute, along with peter schweitzer, they set out to investigate donations to the Clinton Foundation, clintons speaking fees, and they did turn up a lot of unreported donations. So this wasnt all imaginary as a lot of liberals had claimed. They succeeded in the sense bannons real idea was, if we can turn up facts and hand them to serious investigative reporters in the Mainstream Media, they will take those facts and write stories about them.
