Demonstrators blocked traffic to them swarming cars and at one point busting a Police Cruisers windows with one man stomping on it. Protesters forced police to close streets. Others threw bricks. The smell of burnt rubber reportedly because of whats
happening right there. Thats a car spinning out in the middle of an intersection. They are doing a donut. Police say 20 people were arrested and reported no major injuries in which was the first violence since the chicago rally. This footage of a trump supporter talking to medical personnel. Reporters witnessed a confrontation there. Mark halperin, the violence was outside the rally. Going to be hard for the media to spin this one as Donald Trumps problem. That was something they loved to talk about a week ago. I dare say that that degree of violence only helps a candidate that they are trying to hurt. Well, and it also lays to bear what could be months of a huge debate in this country over donald trump and his legitimacy and his appeal. California has never seen what were about to see. Its going to be a lot of political activity in this state. A state that size, there are a lot of people who do a lot of things. Put that image up with the guy in the bandages. This is what they are trying to do to us. This is a trump supporter and they are trying to keep us down. Youre right, donnie. All of this, the rage, the anger, the violence outside the rally, the stomping on police cars, all of that plays right into his hands. Everything thats happening is playing into his hands. Carly fiorina, a stunt. The big between kasich and cruz. Everything says you want to take this election away from us. They are rigging it. Its the system. Its everything thats done now, even if its just political water, plays into his hands. They are taking our country away from us. Just like my parents said in 1968 when there was violence at

positions that might actually help donald trump with his pan. Ices in the general election. Were not seeing it. Not late in the a campaign. Hes going full law and order. Hes going to back almost the bob knight thing. Those were the good old days when america made sense. So what hes doing in california is not pivoting to the general election, but he realizes the establishment and people in washington are turning toward donald trump now. Theres no denying it. Two more endorse mements in congress. Two heads of veterans affairs. These are serious people. Bob corker. Bob corker f theres one thing that indicated a massive change of opinion inside washington it was bob corker, who is not a tea party guy. Hes been seen as one of the more moderate as far as working across the aisle Republican Leaders there. Yeah, when he came out the other day about that Foreign Policy speech that there were some interesting contours to it. But hes get iting support from people that are to be taken seriously. The corker thing was interesting coming basically a few hours after trumps Foreign Policy speech. It gave it a sign of significance, of seriousness, an endorsement. I would say it wasnt the most full throated endorsement, but corker is a person of substance. You always have to do that, sam. Let me pick up with the finger things. Dont talk about texture. The party is resigning itself to him being the nominee. And two, trumps playing what i would say the playbook that nixon did. He references the majority all the time. He goes out there and says theres lawlessness. I need to bring law and order to you. The country is being taken away. But there are factual problems here. Border crossings that he referenced in that speech. They are at an alltime low. Crime in america, its not like the 70s. Were not witnessing an epidemic of crime in American Cities like we were back then. Everything hes done is right brain. I want to pick up on his speech. But facts do matter. Theres a lot of talk about the substance. Theres a cautionary tale for him. That was the first time e we saw him reading. It was different. The thing that makes him work, and i do a lot of things terribly. One thing i do well is a lot of public speeches. I like by point. I cant read off a prompter. His connection with the audience because hes not reading is so real and so present. I found a very different in him trying to be president ial and
read a very different donald trump. And hes got to balance. You have to read stuff. And i for the first time when he speaks i lean in. During that speech, i was leaning back. Thats something hes going to have to juggle as he gets deeper into policy and more speeches because he was not being trump. He wasnt im not talking about substance. I picked that up in the Foreign Policy speech. Im sorry, the other day. The Foreign Policy speech i u pick ued it up there. The thing that everybody learned from that speech or should have learned if youre inside the Trump Organization is he can do that if he has big cheering crowds like that. George w. Bush in a crowd or oneonone, greatest, funniest,
most likable guy. Get him in the east room in a formal press conference and its painful. So you play to the strengths. So explain something to me. Im sure all trumps guys understand hes going to get the 1237, right . They also understand he cant win the general election without 35 of hispanics voting for him. This seems awfully late in the calendar to be doing things that made sense in january. Can he win . There are not, i have been saying all along and i may be wrong, but there are not enough white voters in america for donald trump to win while get ing routed by minorities. Theres a lot in that question. First of all, trump is always
going to say what he believes on issues luk immigration. What he said last night he believes. And he believes he can rally a lot of people. He still needs to do well in the california primary to go over. For the republican electorate, thats a strong message. If you take what trump has said, trump has been for a position on immigration, which he can start to emphasize, that is close to amnesty. I think he will pivot on immigration to talk about some of the things he mentioned about letting people stay here if they are good people. Trump will lose the hispanic vote if hes the nominee. You talk about percentage to get. He can lose california massively. Can he target hispanics in north carolina, illinois, new jersey, i think there are other issues he can talk about to win. And he can get more of the white vote than romney did. The math here is not as cut and dry as hes not going to do well with the hispanic vote and cant win. State by state and on issues besides immigration. Do you think he will do better or worse . Romney lost 71 . I think the national number, if they are able to build a targeting operation, hispanics in california worse as of today. Im not sure thats going to be the case longterm. Thats not what its about. Hes never going to win california any way. Im talking about the general election. Can he not win it, but can he make clinton play defense there. One of the dynamics in this warfare that we have seen in the conflict is trump can probably put more can i answer that question on april 28th . He cant make Hillary Clinton play defense.
