Secretary clinton has an army of surrogates out today, including her husband and daughter. Vice President Biden and bernie sanders. What strikes me is a tale of two campaigns. You have secretary clinton, all her top political surrogates, but shes got an allstar lineup. Donald trump said i dont need those big names to get big crowds. What do you think that brings to the table . Does it matter . It is a stark difference and tells us about the story of the campaign we already lived. For the clinton side, every card they have in the deck, lets play it. Those super surrogates from the current president , former president , all that star power can be effective. They speak to their own consistencies. They have their own history with voerts. With celebrities, there is reflected glory. Fans want to participate in the experience at these events. Democrats typically have more celebrity star power. For donald trump, he is trying to make a point that although he is absent these big sur gates, he can stand alone. For Hillary Clinton, its a lot about key states she should own trying to hold that. And to block donald trump when hes trying to make inroads. His only map to 270 gets him into places where hes got to flip a battleground. Hes making a real play for michigan. What does it say that she is trying to defend these traditionally blue states . Pennsylvania obviously has been considered a battleground but more purple in recent years. Yes. Michigan is more of a surprise. That reflects the demographics donald trump has been trying to play to throughout this whole campaign. Trying to find those voters who are not necessarily a part of the economy as we see it today. Hes pushing hard there. Hes going to have a surrogate like sarah palin going there. We have not seen her on the campaign trail. She is expected to be there tomorrow. For Hillary Clinton you have a chance to see her in a way we dont often. There was rain in florida today. This is the second time weve seen melania on the campaign trail in just a week. She did give a speech to the Republican National convention. Shes appeared by his side a couple of times. Speaking is a new thing to have her do on the campaign trail. She spoke for a few minutes. Introduced her husband. Then the two of them embraced. This comes on not the same day but a day after the wall street journal came out with a new report that said the National Inquirer paid a woman 150,000 to tell her story about having an affair with donald trump in 2007 when Melania Trump 2006, excuse me, when Melania Trump and donald trump were already married. The inquirer shielding donald trump from that allegation. Nbc news has not verified that allegation. The Trump Campaign has flatly denied it, but it is interesting to see Melania Trump on the trail. They need to capture that female vote. They are not going to diminish the gap. They need to mitigate the negative effects of losing women in such large numbers. They believe Melania Trump is someone to help do that. She gave a noted antibullying speech in pennsylvania. Raised eyebrows for that because she said the rhetoric in this country has gotten too cruel, when her husbands campaign has been basically built on insults and trashing his opponents and anybody who gets in the way of his message. She did raise a lot of eyebrows with that statement. I want to ask you about this new strategy from the Trump Campaign. He is making a real play for michigan and pennsylvania. He needs to win one of those states to get to the 270 electoral votes he needs. What are you hearing about this strategy . How confident is the campaign they can get there . The Campaign Says they are very confident. They are hopeful about michigan. They said the polls are closing there. They do need to turn one blue state red if they have a solid path to 270 without any massive surprises out there. Michigan might be potentially their best hope. They are going to go to minnesota, which is confusing. President obama won that state by eight points. Some say he should focus more on michigan, potentially nevada where don ralston is reporting early vote totals are not looking good for republicans. They are going to michigan. They are going to have a difficult time because there is a large africanamerican population in michigan. Donald trump is not polling well among that community. Let me ask you about the africanamerican community. Our latest poll showed that donald trump was poll iing 7 among africanamerican voters. He has a different take. I think we dont have that. Let me give you a sense of what he said. He said it seems to be the big surprise so far this election, blacks for trump. Thank you, fellows, thats so great. His campaign in conversations saying they think they are going to surprise a lot of people with how much support donald trump gets among africanamericans what are you hearing . What is the campaign telling you about that . Theyve been saying that for quite some time. His rallies are predominantly caucasian. Occasionally there is a handful of minority supporters, africanamerican supporters. We see them often in florida. Its a group of guys that follow him from stop to stop. Generally, they are the same group of guys. The Campaign Says they are going to do much better with africanamericans. Well have to see how the polls bear that out. They had been saying they do expect to get double digits among the africanamerican community. More than 10 . We are not seeing that in polls. There is little evidence to support that at Donald Trumps own campaign rallies. The campaign is saying that is something that is going to happen. Well find out if it does bear out tuesday. He has been staying on message largely. Is that critical to him pulling off a win . You see a movement in the polls. That is a reflection of mr. Trump taking a positive message. Obamacare is another big one mr. Trump has been talking about. Its important to point out as we go into this final weekend, mr. Trump is the only candidate who has a positive message getting people something, not just someone to be for. Thats why youre seeing a number of these states that have been traditionally blue or purple. Talking about colorado where its dead even or michigan. Blue states like New Hampshire and new mexico, where our numbers show were in the lead. We learned today you added stops in minnesota and michigan. The latest polling shows clinton is ahead six points in michigan, eight points in minnesota. You only have three days left. Do you have time to come from behind . We do. We are seeing a Real Movement here. There is some energy, momentum coming down the track. This is different than secretary Clintons Campaign which she is largely relying on jayz and beyonce to trip her up across the finish line. As we see going through core battleground states, florida, North Carolina, ohio, all states looking good for mr. Trump. Iowa where we believe he is going to win. Hes on the plane heading out to nevada. Hell finish up in colorado where just yesterday republicans surpass democrats for ballots returned. If he wins colorado, thats likely going to decide the election. Heres the thing. Even aside from colorado, we look at new mexico which has been solidly blue state where mr. Trump is currently leading. The reason we added on minnesota is because the numbers we are seeing as of last night had mr. Trump only behind by three points. The last time minnesota went red was 1972. Isnt a state like minnesota and pennsylvania here a little bit of fools gold for republicans . This state has certainly gotten that reputation in recent years. Republicans tend to make a lastminute play for it. It winds up going blue. This is the beauty. He has completely redefined the map. Whether it be minnesota, michigan, pennsylvania. All states hit hard by manufacturing and job losses. People who are frustrated with secretary clinton for not doing anything to secure the border. The unrest in the middle east. People want a change. Donald trump is the candidate who can do that. John ralston tweeted this about battle grande state. Trump is dead, gop in big trouble in nevada senate. What do you make of that . Do you accept that . Is trump dead in nevada . Not at all. Jon ralston seems a fine enough gentleman, but i wouldnt hire him to figure out our pathway to victory. He is there on the ground. He talked about the fact they extended the voting hours because the lines are so long there. A lot of folks lined up are latino voters saying they are voting democratic. We are ahead right now where mitt romney was four years ago. Our projections show on election day there will be enough to carry us over the finish line. All the energy and momentum which is mr. Trump. We feel very good about the way this is coming together. Going back to my earlier point, its this positive message down the home stretch. Only mr. Trump has. There isnt a positive message with secretary clinton. You saw it with our twominute ad. This will be her down fall. I want to get your reaction to something with the Associated Press reporting mr. Trumps wife melania has insisted shes always been in this country legally and never violated immigration laws. There is an ap article that says Melania Trump was paid for modeling jobs in the United States worth 20,000 that occurred in the seven weeks before she had legal permission to work in the country. That is according to detailed accounting ledgers. Does that not undercut Donald Trumps message on immigration . You read our response which is medical thannia trump came to this country legally. All her paperwork is in order. She is proud to be a United States citizen. She is going to make a fantastic first lady. One point id make, i think this is a sad reflection of where politics are as we enter the final three days of this campaign. You have a Clinton Campaign so desperate to change the subject away from the fact stlr multiple fbi investigations thats not the Clinton Campaign. Thats the Associated Press. People are pushing these stories. Its sad. All right. And there is an investigation into the clinton foundation. There is a shadow hanging over the Clinton Campaign. Appreciate it. Democrats are calling for the Justice Department to investigate whether the fbi is looking at information that could benefit donald trump. Congressman Elijah Cummings and john conyers wrote yesterday saying it is unacceptable for the fbi to leak unsubstantiated and in some cases false information about one president ial candidate to benefit other candidates.
