Many companies and facebook has no accounting for where that data is today. We begin today with that manhunt in tennessee and new details that show police were well aware of this suspect and they had repeatedly warned his family to keep guns away from this man. Let me explain where things stand right now. At last count, more than 80
Police Officers
from the
Metro Nashville
area are searching for trafls reinking. That is his name. The man accused of murdering four people at a waffle house early sunday morning. The fbi and atf have joined the search as well. After fleeing the waffle house, he is believed to have gone to his apartment complex which is less than a mile away. He was last seen in the woods close to the complex. Police say one of his pistols is unaccounted for. Meaning he might be armed. Well, hes on foot, so unless hes been picked up by a car, unless, you know, other means of transportation, he would be fairly close. Residents, were telling everybody to be very cautious. We dont want to alarm people but certainly everybody should take precaution. It could be hes an unoccupied house, it could be hes in an occupied house. It could be that hes, you know, hiding in the woods. We just dont know. This is some scary stuff. The 24yearold walked into the waffle house just after 3 00 a. M. On sunday, wearing only a jacket and armed with an ar15. He allegedly shot and killed two people outside and two more inside before he was stopped by this man, this hero, james shaw, shaw was hiding in the bathroom when he heard a pause in the shooting. He described what happened next on today. When i saw the i just saw the opportunity and i attacked. I held the gun down i think with me left hand and i think i was maybe punching or hit organize whatever i was doing, my right hand, and then once he released it, he had at one point in time, he had it in one hand. Then when he had in one hand, i just took it from him with both my hands and then i took it and i threw it over the countertop. And were grateful for his heroism. A couple of things you should know about this specific shooting. First of all, it involved a semiautomatic ar15. Remember this gun . The one nicknamed americas rifle by the nra. Sure, its the sail me weapon u in parkland, florida, sandy hook and aurora, colorado. Reinking had multiple runins with police over the years so there were lots and lots of red flags. Just last summer, he was arrested for being in a restricted area near the white house. In august, police revoked the 29yearolds gun license, but instead of taking his weapons away, deputies gave them to his dad. The dad promised to keep the guns away from his sons. But clearly he didnt do it. Authorities say the father has now admitted that he gave the weapons back to reinking. Yep, you heard me, the dad gave him back. At least one of those guns, the ar15 was the one used in the shooting. Nbcs
Gabe Gutierrez
is in antioch, tennessee, which is just outside of nashville. Gabe, any clues about where he might be . I mean, its the woods around his a partment and all hes wearing is a jacket. Hi, stephanie, good morning. That is the big question right now. Dozens of
Law Enforcement
agents are searching for him. The weather here in this area making it very difficult for the search this morning in those woods. And nashville area police say there have been no credible sightings overnight of the suspected gunman who they say is armed and dangerous and clearly struggling with
Mental Health
issues. As you mentioned this all started just after 3 00 a. M. Yesterday when police say he stormed into this waffle house wearing nothing but a green jacket. And the question right now is why he had these weapons. Back in 2016, as you mentioned, police were called to this parking lot in his hometown where he was threatening to kill himself. He also said he had delusions that pop star taylor swift had been stalking him. Apter his arrest last year near the white house, his guns were taken away from him by authorities in illinois. Then returned to his father who told investigators he gave the weapons back to his son. Its not clear it was against the law to have them here, have those weapons here in tennessee, but still, a lot of questions about his
Mental Health
and why he had those weens in the first place. The
Tennessee Bureau
has added him to his ten most wanted list. Theres a reward for information leading to his arrest. The two victims who remain in the hospital have been upgraded from critical to stable condition. This is a scary story and its certainly not over. I want to bring my panel in. Eddie gloud, a
Princeton University
professor. Jim cavanaugh, retired atf special agent in charge. I turn to you, gentlemen, first. Lets just talk about the position were in. Reinkings father was present when the deputies came. His father was given this young mans guns months and months ago. He said, im going to keep them away from my son. Yet he gave them back. We keep telling people, if you see something, say something. People did. And here we are. What do you make of this . What is your message, i guess i want to ask, to those who say dont touch my guns no matter what . Thats exactly it. The problem we have is we have not just a legal regime but a culture in which the way in which guns are treated as sort of ordinary household implements is precisely what leads to the deaths of the sort we just saw in the waffle house. Im waiting for the nra to come up to its rebuttal to what happened here. I think its going to be guns dont kill people, nudists kill people and well have this against crazed nudists. But this, again, the central problem we have here is that we have too many guns in this country and people who dont think they are dangerous. Theyre extremely dangerous. The idea the father would return it to his sons is a failure of parenting on a massive level. But its also a kind of a failure of culture. That he would not stop to think that this is dangerous. Okay, but im comfortable with failures of parenting all around but when a failure of parenting results in someone getting an ar15 and walking into a waffle house. Jim, did police break protocol in giving reinkings father back these weapons . How do you give a semiautomatic weapon back to a 29yearold whos got a history of serious issues . Jim, can you hear me . Yes, yes. Was that for me . I didnt hear if she said it was for me. Yes, jim, did the police break protocol in giving the guns back to his father . Look, stephanie, its an awful idea. Its a terrible idea. Its not against federal law. Theres no federal law. Its very week in that area. Whether its a violation of
Illinois State
law is even questionable. You have to have a firearms owners identification card in illinois to possess guns. But whether the father violated that law is up to illinois authorities. Thats kind of the question. The problem is the laws are so weak, stephanie that a person can take an ar15 rifle, that can put large magazines in it and drive to the white house and he hasnt violated any law. We could have laws that say you cant transport interstate this classification of rifle. And we need new classifications of weapons. We have the old classifications from the 68 gun control act which are just pistols and rifles. And then we have sub machine guns and those are tightly regulated. But the pistols and rifles are loosely regulated. You need a category in the middle to categorize i call these police cam bat weapons. And have different restrictions on those. There should be some different restrictions so you cant just traverse the country, go to the white house, have your ar15 rifle, and the secret service cant arrest you for anything basically other than trespassing. So very weak. They should have been able to do that. We need law changes. And also extreme violence protection orders. This guy had mental troubles. Claiming he was an antigovernment sovereign, talking about the illuminati. Clearly an extreme violence protection order. All the states need those. Then me sitting here in new york city, it seems clear as day why you wouldnt do that. You having a background in the atf, you agree. But the
Washington Post
says even after all of this, officials did not think that this guy posed a threat to the public in a way that they needed to do something. Is it that the law just wasnt on their side . Well, you know, we cant stop every single shooting but this shooting could be stopped with good laws. Because he was already encountered by the secret service with the rifle. So those weapons could have been taken if the laws were correct like interstate transportation of such weapons, you know, narrowly defined so it wouldnt take in the hunting weapons and normal pistols and target rifles. But these kind of rifles. We could change these laws. And then we already had contact. The police, correct service in this case, the uniformed division, took the guns, stephanie. Thats what breaks your heart. They already took the guns. And now four citizens in nashville are dead from this troubled man, antigovernment extremist, a guy probably whos dead in the woods right now from a selfinflicted wound. Theres been no sightings of hihi him. He was running around naked. I think theres an even chance hes dead in the woods. Its not certain, its just a possibility. But theres been no fresh sightings. He kind hadidnt have a vehicle. His other options are to car jack somebody, which could happen, or get into a house, barricade or hold the family hostage. This sick, sick man. The last thing he needed was access to a gun. Eddie, lets take a moment to acknowledge james shaw. This is the hero in all of this. If he had not acted, more people would be dead. And lets remember, he acted it wasnt just a regular old gun. It was an ar15. And he got out of the bathroom and attacked a guy with a semiautomatic weapon. Thats a hero. Indeed, lets be clear, we dont have a sense, at least i dont have a sense of the time frame here. An ar15, four people are dead. The quickness with which that happened is important. So we have to put james shaws actions into context, right. The guy took advantage of an opportunity. He heard a pause and he literally disarmed this man and saved lives, right. He could have just hidden and saved his own life. And he saved lives. Its important for us to say this. That if he didnt have an ar15, right, he wouldnt have been able to kill four people so quickly, in my view. If he didnt have an ar15, right, the opportunity to kill even to cause even more carnage may not have even been possible. More people could have had an opportunity to be heroic in this instance. We want to understand that in this case, crystalize this for us. Everything we find wrong with the current gun control debate, right. And we can say here, we can sit here and say that reinking was mentally unstable or is mentally unstable. We can say that. We can let people make, draw their conclusions between kind of
Mental Health
issues and gun violence. What we want to say is there was an ar15, a weapon of mass destruction in a waffle house that required james shaw to be extraordinary in a moment. In order to save lives. But the real criminal here is that ar15. Well, and james shaw was not only heroic in this instance but he was going up against a whole culture that says even mentally ill or seriously unwill individuals have a constitutional right to own a weapon that can cause these kinds of casualties. The real criminal being those who gave access to a mentally ill person, to an ar15. Its crazy. Now to a big story in washington. You remember. This is the president s huge

Foreign Policy

Sarah Huckabee
sanders about this, about the fact that the white house has been signaling they want to see north korea agree to denuclearization before there is any sanctions relief. Take a listen to what she had to say about that. Were going to continue to the maximum pressure campaign. Real and concrete steps taken toward denuclearization, but im not going to get ahead of any negotiations. The president trying to tamp down expectation, saying were a long way from conclusion on north korea. And maybe they wont. Only time will tell. The work hes doing now should have been done a long time ago. Tonight, theyll be having their dinner at mt. Vernon. A lot of symbolism behind this state visit, stef. Coming up, more trouble for, guess who, epa chief scott pruitt. New revelations that he did meet with the lobbyist who owned that condo that pruitt was living in for, you know, 50 bucks a night and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Hes got a long history of this lifestyle. But first, we just spoke about the president s big

week. Another big landmark on the horizon, the iran nuclear deal. The president needs to reauthorize it in just over two weeks. So john oliver decided to cut a commercial advocating for the deal. The iran deal may not be perfect, but it helps restrict irans ability to start making a bomb for at least ten years. You blow up the deal, and that turns into zero years. And if ive learned one thing from all these years of cowboying and calving, thats zero is way less than ten. Thats correct. Also, you really want to listen to a guy with a mustache like this . Whether its a big thing, small thing, or something unexpected, pnc will be right there when you need us. Because when it comes to your finances, if you focus on today, tomorrow has a way of working itself out. If you focus on today, we see two travelers so at a comfort innal with a glow around them, so people watching will be like, wow, maybe ill glow too if i book direct at choicehotels. Com. Who glows . Just say, badda book. Badda boom. Book now at choicehotels. Com you know whats not awesome . Gigspeed internet. When only certain people can get it. Lets fix that. Lets give this guy gig really . And these kids, and these guys, him, ah. Oh hello. That lady, these houses yes, yes and yes. And dont forget about them. Uh huh, sure. Still yes xfinity delivers gig speed to more homes than anyone. Now you can get it, too. Welcome to the party. Another day, another drama for epa chief scott pruitt. It turns out pruitt lied, meaning he did meet in his official last year with a veteran lobbyist who is tied to the bargain price 50 a nice condo where pruitt was living. Remember, he was only paying 50 bucks a night when he slept there. Both pruitt and the lobbyist steven hart previously denied hart had conducted any recent business with the epa. But now a spokesman for hart confirms the lobbyist met with pruitt at epa headquarters in july of 2017. To discuss efforts to preserve the chesapeake bay. So one more time, scott pruitt and hart lied. And that is not all. The
New York Times
is highlighting a long pattern of questionable behavior. Reporting pruitt received roughly 100,000 discount on the 2003 purchase of a home in
Oklahoma City
. Pruitt and a group of partners bought the home from a lobbyist for a
Telecom Company
he was responsible for overseeing as an
Oklahoma State
official. Lets get my panel to weigh in on this. Eddie and brett, okay, to you first. Pruitt met with this lobbyist. This is what i dont get. He could have said in the last several weeks, yes, i met with hill, nothing came of it. He met with them and lied about it. Yet he still sits here in this job. Why is this guy lying over and over . Does he think were never going to find out . We catch them every time. And they continue to lie and there are no consequences that follow. Whenever they say something, we should think the default position is theyre lying. Also whether or not he knew that his friends were given the raise when everybody told him they shouldnt be given the raise. He is an expert level grifter. I just gave a d d reference, a dungeons and dragons reference. He is an expert level grifter. He should be the poster child of the trump administration. Outside of donald trump himself. To my mind, he represents exactly what is most valued in this administration. And that is a pursuit of ones own individual interests, a disregard for the public good, right, and an overall ethic of just simply get what you can while you can. Everybody knew who he was before he became on the positive side, hes got hes clearly got a talent for real estate that nearly matches that of sean hannity. On friday, hart, the lobbyist here, announced his retirement as chairman of his company. Thats where we learned, oh, by the way, they did meet. Walk me through, brett, why would these guys deny meeting, knowing wed find out . I just dont understand it. I think eddie just laid it out to you. Grifters gotta grist, thats it . Lying is the default option. Dont trump voters deserve better . Yes. Starting with the presidency itself. Look, in the case of pruitt, i think it is important to establish two things. Pruitts views on the environment. What were talking about is a purely ethicsbased question. What the
New York Times
story the other day lays out, chapter and verse, is that pruitts expensive taste, habits of not disclosing his real estate purchases to the oklahoma government, failure i mean, the failures to disclose. These go back at least 15 to 20 years. Where was that when scott pruitt was getting the job . If the

So one more time, scott pruitt and hart lied. And that is not all. The
New York Times is highlighting a long pattern of questionable behavior. Reporting pruitt received roughly 100,000 discount on the 2003 purchase of a home in
Oklahoma City. Pruitt and a group of partners bought the home from a lobbyist for a
Telecom Company he was responsible for overseeing as an
Oklahoma State official. What the
New York Times story the other day lays out, chapter and verse, is that pruitts expensive taste, habits of not disclosing his real estate purchases to the oklahoma government, failure i mean, the failures to disclose. These go back at least 15 to 20 years. Where was that when scott pruitt was getting the job . If the
New York Times can lay out in
Oklahoma City a woman sells a property for 100,000 less, her employ e makes up the difference to her, that employer then gets hookups in terms of regulation by, guess who, scott pruitt. Why wouldnt this have been
Public Information when scott pruitt was getting the job . Remember, trump met with him. He said can you go meet with carl icahn. He says yep, i give him my blessing. Then pruitt gets the job. Well, we could ask that question about wilbur ross. We could ask that question about betsy devos. We could ask the question about ben carson. Tom price. Tom price. And tom price lost his job. Shulkin lost his job. Why does pruitt stay in the job . I dont know. I just asked him this. Look, there is a kind of a circling of the wagons. Theres a feeling that pruitt in some ways is associated with the heart and soul of this administration. Hes been under attack from his beginning because of his views on the environment. I think trumps gut instinct is if i lose pruitt, im basically conceding to the people. The fact of the matter is bho whoever comes after pruitt is going to have the same views as he does. The thing thats really important here is over and over again theres an attempt to delegitimize the truth. If i can put it that way. Undermine the truth. So the very function of the fourth estate, the very function of the press, right, actually works to the benefit of people like trump and pruitt. The moment we called them out for lying, right, because theres this ongoing pressure,
Ongoing Campaign to say this is fake news, fake news, fake news, people have a deep suspicion of what were up to, of what the press is up to. And so they circle the wagons. Someone who likes to call fake news and is good at something which is real estate is sean hannity. You remember, he said his relationship with
President Trumps fixer
Attorney Michael Cohen had to do with real estate. The guardian is reporting that it obtained documents detailing
Sean Hannitys vast real estate empire. Nbc has not confirmed this report. But theyre saying that the records are linking hannity to a link of
Shell Companies that spent 90 million bucks on more than 470 homes in seven states over the last decade. Ranging from mansions to rentals for low income families. Whats your take on this . First, i want to apologize to sean. I once called him fox newss dumbest anchor. Im not paying real estate hes clearly the shrewdist real estate developer. I think its funny sean hannity turns out to be a welfare queen for hud, having taken advantage of guarantees that were put forward by none other than the obama administration. Look, you know, hannity, hes said over and over again, im not that he is not a journalist. He proves it every single day. The question for fox news is whether they want to consider themselves a
Journalistic Institution and continue to employ as an anchor a guy who clearly is better at real estate than he is, at reporting. I know its a slippery slope and we always say, you know, freedom of the press and we sit here saying, well, whats fox news going to do . When banks are up to no good or when
Bank Employees have conflicts of interests, regulators get involved. The sec gets involved. Is the issue here theres no regulatory body to get involved . Were sitting here going, well, whats fox news going to do . Its a judgment call about making money and advertisers. In banking, doesnt matter if a trader is making 1 zillion for the bank, if its bad ethical practice, theyve got to go. Acknowledge he called sean hannity a welfare queen, thats news. There you go. Whether or not theres a kind of
Regulatory Regime here that could kind of call out and actually i mean, if theres no punishment, we just do whatever we do. What we find here, to echo your point, is norm erosion, right, basic norms are just being tossed out the window. And the currency of our political moment is hypocrisy. It is the most valuable currency of our political moment, right. So i can trade on i can say anything. I can do anything. I can be in conflict, right, as long as im pursuing my own selfinterest and being narcissistic and whatever. As long as im doing that, i dont have to worry about the consequences. So norms are being cast aside from the top all the way down to the bottom and people who claim to be the moral arbiters, right, of our politics, turn out to be the biggest theres a big difference between what sean hannity and banking. Sean hannity ultimately operates behind the protection of the first theres a basic question to viewers. Is this someone you actually trust. Because hes continually, as eddie just said, hes continually violating basic norms but as viewers when i worked for the wall street journal, also
Rupert Murdoch company, would not fly at the
New York Times. Hes allowed to get away with it. If you want to punish hannity, switch the channel. Viewers will say, hes my guy, im proud hes a successful businessman. And that right there is the ringing of the bell. Lets head down to wall street where the dow lets see where the dow is two seconds into the day of trading. There you go. Up just a smidge. Cnbcs
Brian Sullivan joins us now. Brian what do we expect this week . We got a lot of earnings ahead. I dont think i could trump it, but ill add to it, we got a lot of economic numbers. Speaking of housing, something i think you may have just been talking about, we got the macro existing home sales. Not everybody cares about the stock market but a lot of people care about the real estate market. Its been hot. Interest rates are going up. Which means that houses that are unaffordable are going to get even more so to a lot of your viewing audience out there. Youve got people in los angeles, by the way, that are buying homes sight unseen. Some of whom are putting no money down. Remember this, like a decade ago . Im just saying, just be careful about that. Were seeing the dow up 63 points now. The easing of tension in the korean peninsula, helping investors today. Friday was a tough day. President trump never misses an opportunity to profess his deep love for tax cuts. But heres one big problem, a new wall street journal report says those big tax cuts included in the gop tax plan will deepen our trade deficits, something the president said he hates. Joining me now, the author of that article, grip ipp, along with my panel. You say for now its more of an optics. This is more of an optics problem than an economics problem. Explain. Trade deficit economists are all quite certain really dont matter in the short run. Its because economys growing strong when we spend and invest, you know, some of that shows up as imports, not a problem. In the long run, we have trade deficits because we as a country consume more than we produce. We have to borrow from foreigners. When we borrow from foreigners, we owe them interest. That means over time, because of this tax cut, well be sending more income abroad to help foreigners, as foreigners sustain the standard of living. That leaves americans poorer than they otherwise would be. Why is it we dont seem to care about that . If youre saying in the long run, why trade deficits are going to hurt us, why dont we seem to care. Why dont republicans seem to care . Theyre the ones who should. Its interesting if you go back to the 1980s, the same thing happened. That produced a very large trade deficit. But something that separates reagan from trump is reagan was fundamentally a free trader who didnt really wasnt really that bothered by trade deficits. Trump is not a reagan free trader. He is really bothered by trade deficits. You have this real tension this real contradiction between his two policies. I think what were going to be looking at in coming years is if the economists are all right and our trade deficits are going to be larger than they otherwise would be, is going to cause a real problem of rhetoric, perceptions and possibly more protectionist tension between the
United States and its trading partners. That wont necessarily impact the americans for years, and right now
Business Sentiment is up,
Consumer Sentiment is up and people do have a little bit more money in their paychecks. Sure so does that mean its a temporary win for the president but its a longterm loss for the
American People . Theres a lot of things going on here. Economists will say theres some very good things about this tax cut. When you lower the tax on profits, you should encourage more investment over the long run. That makes us richer. Essentially financing it, by borrowing from the future, it stores up a lot of problems. Also it throws a lot of new stimulus in the economy at a time when its already at full employment. Thats going to have a couple of effects. One of which is likely to cause the
Federal Reserve to raise
Interest Rates faster in a few years. That could be, you know, a possible recessionary risk. It also means anybody who owes money will probably be paying a little bit more to borrow. Eddie, is this frustrating for someone like you . Because
President Trump touts himself as the business guy. People say we like these tax cuts. We like the bigger paycheck. But knowing whats going to happen in a few years, nobody thinks about a few years. It frustrates the hell out of me to be honest. At the heart of it is an incoherence. On the one hand, one value conflicting with another. And theres no effort to kind of resolve them. In the midst of it, there was an invocation of reagan here. I dont know if we ever cross the threshold with regards to the amount of debt weve occurred with this current tax debt. I dont know have we ever encountered this level of debt and what it might mean for future generations. Also, i think greg touched on the fundamental incoherence of trumps
Overall Economic policies, which is trying to practice capitalism at home and mercantilism abroad and thats not going to work over the long term. Its going to be an interesting week. Macron in town, merkel later this week. The merkel meeting will be especially interesting because trump is always complaining about germanys trade surplus and, frankly, hes got a point. But germany runs a trade surplus. Germany consumes less than it produces. The solution would be to get germany to save less and spend more. Thats not going to be fixed by tariffs which seems to be this president s method of dealing with trade problems. Greg, thank you. Up next, in his testimony, facebook ceo

If the developer who people gave their information to, in this case, alexander cogen, then goes in violation of his agreement with us, sells the data to cambridge analytica, thats a big issue. People have a right to be very upset. Im upset that that happened. That of course was facebook ceo
Mark Zuckerberg during his testimony before lawmakers on capitol hill just a couple weeks ago. The developer hes referring to is alexander cogen. He developed an app that harvested data of tens of millions of facebook users. This hes referring tos is alex kogan. He dependent an app that harvested tens of millions of facebook users, but this morning kogan is firing back saying hes not the only twoun blame in this fight. Pretty powerful pr spin but its exactly that. I think our folks need to understand that this was business as usual as far as
Facebook Developers went. Im a summary. I had a long relationship with them. And i had a lot to lose by trying toeninger them. So when i did this project, we didnt think we were doing anything wrong. We didnt think facebook was ever going to be upset. I wasnt doing it for money, i thought it was because it would give us a great readership. But there are so
Many Companies collecting more data that dont care about the relationship with facebook. Facebook has no akigt for their data whatsoever. I have my dear friend and chief content officer and author of the new book youve got to pick up love rules how to find a real relationship in a digital world. Janet, youve studied the impact of the digital media. All the information we put out there. When we hear from these two guys, not specifically facebook specifically, but what
Mike Zuckerberg saying its a one off, aufrl our data gets harvested, gets used to it, is that the world were living . I think so. And think people dont care, thats whats fascinating. We have the millennial generation who understand and want to do everything on the computer and dating apps. But i think this is a generational gap. Think
Older People Care because they have a sense of what privacy means and i think millennial and gen z and alpha generation are seeing everything they do that somehow goes out into cyber space and they really dont care. You can see this san issue thats caught people. Do they think the election might have been hijacks and are they concerned about that . Yes. But does it stop them from signing terms and agreements theyre nothing goi never goi to read . No. I put that oud outthere because it provides ads and stuff from stores i might want to buy. But when the information is used for fake news stories to influence me, isnt there a line with what the information we put out there and what its used for . People are using apps less than they were and i think people are just getting used to, you know, thinking theyre going to have to be more medium literacy. What were seeing is
Media Literacy and people being taught how to understand this. What was fascinating about seeing the clip of
Alexander Kogan and you think, go goode, lord, you the future of our world is in the hands of these two young men. When i think about facebook has all the most important data, weve studied the data. What dpas bo what facebook and instagram have and dating apps is who i want to be so the world likes me. But what google and amazon have is that im buying tube socks, underpants and, you know, athletes foot cream. But when you talk about valuable data, does facebook and dating apps and social media really have valuable data or our fake lives . Heres what i think is more interesting than that is how is spending so much time on these apps changing our behavior . There you go. And that is what fascinates me. Its particularly interesting because dating apps are a fantastic way to meet somebody but they cant be the only way. And what you discover and ive talked to hundreds of women and some men in the making of this book is how much time people spend online to your point about data matching with someone who they think they know and then they have extraordinary text and flirty conversation which most people find fun. And they can have up to 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 flirty exchanges on texts before they go and meet someone. Then had they meet someone, the person is completely different from who they thought they were talking to. But isnt that natural . Were creating profiles of our best selves that arent actually who we are. But also whats fascinating and i cite the work of mary aikens, the psychology gift in the book, is what happens when youre talking to a stranger online and what happens in a computer mediated situation, if you fill in the blanks with positive attributes, its just what in fact terms that people do, so you end up meeting someone whos a stranger of whom you think much better than perhaps you should. And its leading to all sorts of issues. And actually the
British Police who keep all sorts of data on this have discovered when they call a new sexual predator, and thats telling people in particular. If you meet someone online, you have a long, flirty exchange then you meet them in the flesh in a bar or restaurant or whatever and then you go home with them on that first date, you are more likely youre six times more likely to be sexually assaulted than if you had just met someone in a bar, go home with them. Why . Because they think theres a whole new layer of searchual predators looking to entrap people and its fascinating. You know what else is fascinating . This book love rules youve got to read it. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Well be back in two. Better, faster by daft punk is heard throughout. sound of typing sound of exhaling sound of drilling jimmy shouting james brand vo the
