To california have experienced severe weather. Joining us now
Gabe Gutierrez
live in dayton, ohio, hit by two suspected twisters overnight. Gabe, more than 64,000 residents are without power in ohio. You are in montgomery county. This is the hardest hit in terms of outages. Help us understand the situation. Reporter steph, ali. We have been here the past several hours kind of taking all this devastation in. We just got to, within the past few minutes, to this apartment complex, which the roof is completely ripped off. You see the power of this tornado splintered these trees and we have talked to several of the residents here that described a horrifying scene. The
National Weather
service says winds were up to 140 miles per hour. The damage, the insulation ripped off of here. It was just horrifying, some of the residents were telling us what they went through last night. Lisa hessler, i spoke to you a few minutes ago. You road out the storm inside this apartment. What did it feel like . When the they tell you it sound like a 48 train, it is. We knew we knew the tornado was on top of us. We knew it was going straight over us. Whered you ride it out . We were in the bathroom. We had pillows. We had the dog in with us. And just saying our prayers to jehovah that we make it and we all did. You just huddled there with your husband. When you got out and looked at this devastation. We didnt see this at first. Reporter you didnt, it was dark . What i did, we came into the living room and i looked out and i saw all the trees gone. All the trees. We have been seeing this, the trees ripped apart so many people got power. This was all trees. There was this side there was an island. There was the other side of the river. Now we are all gone. We have been seeing tornadoes in the midwest and south and other part of the country. Did you expect this type of powerful storm in here . No, in fact, i tried to warn my parents in south vienna it was coming their way. We knew the news mentioned sherry lynn avenue. We know thats where his sister lives. We were worried for them. Not us. So where do you go now . Sherry lynn avenue with david fugate. Hes a fire fighter. Reporter you rode it out with your pets too. We would love it if
Insurance Companies
could step up and let us know whenever
Something Like
this happens, where the humans can go to stay and where they can take their animals. Thank you very much. Thanks, for talking to us. We appreciate it. Good luck to you. We hope you try to recover from this. Steph, ali, the governor is expected to tour this area in just a short time. Shelters have been opened for residents like her, crews are still assessing the damage here throughout this entire area and other communities throughout the midwest. Some parts of indiana hit especially hard as well. The cleanup effort well under way in ohio. Well under way. This has been days and weeks of deluge. Lets bring in kerry in oklahoma. Walk us through whats in store. So you see over my shoulder here. This is the keystone dam on the arkansas river. Its controlling the flow of the water as its making its way to tulsa. So well do a little mathematics here. There is 175,000 cubic feet of water coming through every second. So as i walk along here, thats 2 million gallons flowing down towards tulsa. And the concern, of course, is the amount of watt going there is hitting levies. Levies are earth built up this way and top and the water on one side is protecting the city on this side. So if the earth were to break through, the water would rush in. So these levees in tulsa aboutp miles long, they were actually built in world war ii. They were tested back in 86 they had a short period of 12 hours. This is now going on for days. You can see people have all gathered over here. They have not seen this much water flowing. They are concerned it could be a problem. We have seen areas where the water has come over the banks, gone into neighborhoods and flooded neighborhoods. Residents who have lost so much and are now discovering they did not have what they thought they had the right insurance. It turns out, stephanie, they had
Homeowners Insurance
, fought federal
Flood Insurance
. Theyre getting a rude awakening. Which means they need to get some help from fema and only a
Small Business
loan from the
Small Business
administration. Its something you can
Carry Forward
versus the money you get from the federal
Flood Insurance
program. All of this is unfolding. As i look up, we have clear skies. But there is the possibility in the forecast of more rain. More rain means potentially more water. With the rain in this part of the country where we are right now also comes the fear of more tornado. Everybody is on edge. Especially tonight, where there is expected to be a tornado watch in effect. Lets make something clear. If the benefit they can hope for is a low interest loan, thats something theyre going to be paying back for years. If they think theyre going to be paid out by insurance, they dont think theyre going to owe money on that. They think they have been paying president emyums for years and years so they will be covered. Alone, its something entirely different and devastating for these people. Reporter stephanie, its so confusing. Because the federal
Flood Insurance
program, again, federal, you actually get it from your insurance agent. So when he comes up to you. Its like would you like
Flood Insurance
. Sometimes the
Mortgage Company
says, the bank sed says you have to have
Flood Insurance
depending on where you live. Its confusing, people think i dont need that unless its required and dont buy it and think they im buying it from the same dpoo i that sold me my
Homeowners Insurance
. Its a federal government policy and you dont go to your
Homeowners Insurance
and say, hey, all of this water wound up in my neighborhood. Its on my roof. Everything is destroyed. Help me. Im sorry. Thats a flood. Its not necessarily a pipe breaking and its an ugly truth that a lot of people are right now discovering right now, you know it is. Kerry, thank you for your reporting. Thats the hard part about this. You dont know its coming and it happens you dont know what happens next. You dont have the money to engage in repairs for businesses, individuals, its devastating. This is why people feel theyre scammed by insurance. They feel they are paying into something in the event of an emergency theyre covered. You pick up the phone, they go, no, maam, its interesting entirely different. All right. Well, right now in oklahoma, the first state trial of the
Opioid Epidemic
is under way, this marks the test for seeing if they can hold people accountable. In court,
Johnson Johnson
faces a multimillion dollar lawsuit at the state. It is just the start of more than 2,000 similar lawsuits against opioid manufacturers across the nation. Joining us now msnbc legal analyst lets be clear, we were showing
Johnson Johnson
baby powder. Thats a different case whatsoever. That has nothing to do with this whatsoever. This is about opioids. Dan, the argument here is that the company under represented how addictive and dangerous these drugs are and they over represented what they can do for you. How people should take them and it led to this epidemic. Thats right. The companys defense is going to be, look, we had these marketing materials. They were approved by the fda. The product is completely legal. And the plaintiffs here cannot show. There is going to be the defense argument. The plaintiffs cannot show causation. They cant show that these advertisements caused a doctor with his or her independent judgment to write a script and that that script caused a person to then become an addict. Was it a part of the chain of events that led to it, yes. How does that get established . Yeah, it was a part of a chain of events that had doctors recommending everything and pain go to zero and companies marking it, distributors sending way too many drugs to individual pharmacies . How does that legally work when there is a carolina of which,
Johnson Johnson
was a part . Its going to be complicated here. The plaintiffs are taking a novel theory of public nuisance, an ambitious theory of causation. Say tack merely by marketing this, not warning everyone about the risks and the dangers, that that caused legally caused, which means you have to actually cause it and it must also be foreseeable that this would be the result. That this caused people to become addicted and for overdoses to result. And again the defense is going to be look the fda approved this. Their nothing that we did to cause the addiction and, most importantly, this drug is not only legal, it does have a benefit. It has a recognized health benefit, unlike, for example unlike tobacco which has zero benefit. If are you
Johnson Johnson
, you know when creating these drugs, you created them you understood a few night number of patients that would need these. Fast forward, you see countless prescriptions filled. Multiples. Is there no requirement on the part of
Johnson Johnson
to raise a red flag and say hold on a second. Why are ten times, 20 times the amount we believe the people should be receiving this drug. Why is there a multiple out there . There is no consequence to that . You raised a really powerful, moral argument. The question is, is this a legal theory for holding the
Company Liable
. Where you have several different as we call in the law intervening causation events happening in between to cut off potentially the causation chain. Is it enough to hold the
Drug Companies
liable simply because the product is very dangerous . You could apply that same theory to cars. Cars are incredibly dangerous items. What about buying them . Not only that, they promote them, tiadvertise them knowing thousands and thousands of people die. The reality is society is made of the balancing test and decide the social benefit outweighs the risk. The known risk. The marketed risk. That is a challenge. These
Drug Companies
dont fit neatly into prior similar situationles. But thats our struggle as society. We have to decide how to deal with
Drug Companies
and how, if at all, to hold them responsible for overdoses. So the
Johnson Johnson
subsidiary, the law company janzen, they said janssen is confident it acted responsibly in the marking and promotion of its products. Its fdaapproved medicines helped people in pain, and janssen successfully worked with regulators. Purdue pharma, another companies have had similar statements. Weve only been on the good side of this thing. We have only been trying to help when we found out things are wrong. Whats the best case against them . The best case against them would be number one, that they knew just like the tobacco theory of liability. That they knew this product was so dangerous and yet they marketed it anyway and ignored the dangers, ignored what they knew would happen is that addiction would result. The challenge with that theory is this. Again you go back to not only proving causation but also that this is a drug that did have benefits. Its a drug that was approved by the government. Because in even inspite of its benefits, it had or its risks, it does have a benefit and thats treating acute pain. Yeah. All right. Well watch this one closely with you. Thank you, danny savales. The court will allow a part of the abortion law providing abortion providers very or creamy fetal remains. It left
Lower Court Rulings
intact that blocked indias ban on discriminatory abortions based on the characteristics of the fetus, gender, race, both provisions were signed by
Vice President
mike pence when he was the states governor. In less than one hour, lawmakers in louisiana. This is a new law are scheduled to vote on a bill, excuse me, that would make abortions after six weeks of pregnancy illegal. If passed, louisiana would become the ninth state to enact abortion restrictions into law this year alone. There is currently a total of 29 states that have been treated with some form of restrictive abortion measures. Pete williams. The
Supreme Court
, tell us about the significance of the rulings about indiana as it relates to the bigger discussion thats going on about roe versus wade. Reporter id say it seems the court is going out of its way, its not getting into the larger question. It said of holding this fetal remains, it says previous courts have said states have an interest in how human remains are handled and that, therefore, indiana, rather, indiana had a rational basis for passing this law even if it wasnt a perfect fit with these previous rulings. On the other hand, the restriction on getting an abortion, its based on the characteristics of the fetus. The court said it was striking, it was leaving the
Lower Court Ruling
in place that struck it down. Without expressing any position on whether the lower court was right or not. It simply said, we dont like to take big cases like this big issues like this when there is only one
Lower Court Ruling
. The usual reason the
Supreme Court
takes a case is the circuits are split. Here one ruling, the court usually likes to let these things percolating in the lower federal appeals courts first. Because this was an eggs sense of first impression, they said were not going to take it now. They didnt take any position on whether the indiana position was constitutional or not. But the
Supreme Court
did say in this unsigned opinion that the opponents of that provision never said it was an undue burden on a womans right to choose. Now that is the key test for abortion restriction. That test is undoubtedly going to be applied to this louisiana law today and the others recently that have been, in essence, laws making abortion illegal and on that basis, the lower courts are saying those laws are an undue burden. You mentioned it. The bill there. What would it specifically restrict and how does it compare to other laws that are in place . Some of this might be shocking to
People Like Us
who are living in new york or washington, d. C. But much of whats happening in states like louisiana is met with support from a whole lot of people who live there. Reporter well, including the democratic governor who is apparently likely to sign this, if the
Republican Legislature
passes it. This is 21 of these fetal heartbeat laws that says you cant have an abortion if the fetal heart beat is detectible. Thats usually six weeks into the pregnancy when opponents of these laws say many women dont realize at that point that theyre pregnant. So it would certainly, in essence, make abortion illegal. Now, there is a curious little provision in this law. It says it wont go into effect until the court of appeals rules on an identical provision from mississippi. So this is a very unusual thing to have in a state law that said you know whether this foes into effect depends on a ruling from another place, but apparently, this was louisianas way of trying to save litigation costs, saying, we know this is going to be appealed. Lets wait to see what happens in mississippi. Thats at least several months away. Pete, good to see you. Thank you, sir. Pete williams outside the
Supreme Court
. Breaking news out of missouri. Thats one of the states thats recently passed a bill banning abortion. Its last remaining
Abortion Clinic
expects to be shut down friday, effectively ending legal abortion in that state. Planned parenthood says they are refusing to renew the annual license to provide abortions. It would still be able provide nonabortion
Health Services
at the facility if the license is not renewed by may 31st, missouri would become the first state without a functioning
Abortion Clinic
since roe v. Wade was decided in 1973. Our dr. Johners torres trav and talked about the impact of the restriction laws. Watch this. When its not clear on the legal realm with these laws being passed and conflating all this language, it makes it impossible to be a
Healthcare Provider
and do the right thing for your patients without wonder, am i or am i not in line with the law . And just moments ago, we received new details on an abortion policy from contender
Kamela Harris
, the senator is taking part in a live msnbc town hall this evening. You are watching velshi ruehle right here on msnbc. V ruehle right here on msnbc. Sol. With a soil improver sol. Seed and fertilizer to feed now yard time is our time. This is a scotts yard. My digestive system used to make me feel sluggish. But those days are over. Now i take metamucil every day. It naturally traps and removes the waste that weighs me down. So i feel. Lighter. Try metamucil and begin to feel what lighter feels like. Introducing new metamucil premium blend, sweetened with stevia and made with allnatural flavors and colors. Its a delicious way to get your daily dose of fiber. Try it today. Welcome back to velshi ruhle. Moments ago we learned 2020 candidate senator

State Government or local government thats attempted to pass a law that impacts abortion rights in your states, the courts found you to have violated rules in the past, it would require you to go to the department of justice before those laws go into effect. Before those laws go into effect, they would have to go to the department of justice and seek approval. This is much like how the
Voting Rights act used to be set up. You remember in states they had to go to voting the rights. The
Harris Campaign says if they get the u. S. House and senate to pass federal legislation, her white house, her department of justice would require states to go to them directly for that approval. Kamela harris knows that securing the africanamerican vote is crucial for getting the democratic nomination. A new poll shows she is running third behind both biden and sanders. What is she doing about that particularly as it relates to
South Carolina . Reporter this is her sixth campaign stop. Kamela harris is introducing herself to this country. She is just in her third year in the u. S. Senate out of california. When you talk to voters at rallies, events. They tell us they want to know more. Where does she stand on issues like womens pre touktive health. When you go out on the streets, there are a lot of people that weve talked to that have never heard of
Kamela Harris and barely recognize her as a u. S. Senator
Kamela Harris is in
South Carolina introducing herself as an electorate you look at that consol poll that shows 45 support joe biden. 18 support
Bernie Sanders, in third is
Kamela Harris. She is on a mission to become a name. A lot of folks we talked to says joe biden and
Bernie Sanders ever since biden announced his candidacy. Jane campbell said she voted for
Hillary Clinton over
Bernie Sanders. Bernie sanders has her support. When i ask, have you heard of
Kamela Harris . She says, no shell be paying attention in the month ahead. A reminder, these are early days. You know what will help that woman . If she joins us in less than a month. Tonight she can learn more about

Welcome back to velshi ruhle. Michael aven nate, former lawyer for
Stormy Daniels is in the middle of backtoback arraignments. Hes the defendant this time. Incredible. Aven nate appeared in federal court in manhattan in the last hour on allegations he stole almost 300,000 bucks from daniels. Later he will appear that he tried to extort 20 million from nike. Aven nate denied all the accusations. Tom winter is outside the courthouse. What happened in the
Stormy Daniels days . Then we can talk about the nike case. As expected and tweeted. Michael avenatti pleaded and the whole proceedings lasted approximately 20 minutes. Aven nate actually surrendered himself at 6 54. He came into court with a blue shirt and a silver blue tie appearing at the defense table. Didnt say much. These proceedings as i mentioned are pretty short. They require there is a plea thats entered. His bail package is the same as in the nike case. The only exception is he has to refrain from contacting victim one is
Stormy Daniels unless there is an attorney present. Its the only caveat in that case. Now, lets talk about the second one, the nike case. Thats happening in 90 minutes. Correct . Reporter thats correct. At 3 30 today at a different courthouse,
Michael Aven Nate will be arraigned in the nike case. He is expected to be arraigned in a not guilty case there. There are two distinct fact patterns involving different victims. Thats why we have these backtoback arraignments. He was clarnlgd several weeks ago. Now a formal indictment has been presented by a garage, he has to enter a plea. We expect him to plead not guilty and it to be another short proceeding. As you said, that relates to an esteemed according to indictment to extort nike for 20 million before he would have a press conference. It would say that theyve bribed or paid off players to attend certain colleges or universities. Thats what we anticipate this afternoon. Its possible in a hearing in between those two that will start shortly, we might start to get a trial date for the
Stormy Daniels case. Thats what we have from here in lower manhattan. Before we go, quickly. If you are an attorney and charged in a case like this, what happens in the meantime . Can you practice law . Its a good question. Reporter yeah. So basically what will happen here in the meantime is we should see some filings. The late discovery aven nates team presumably here although he says he looks forward to the evidence. Typically motions in limine. What im asking is, how does he make a living during all this . Does he still get to practice law . Reporter well, thats a great, great question. So, typically, you dont lose your law license until have you been convicted of a crime. His law license would be out of california in this particular case, he faces charges, 36 of them in an entirely separate federal case. Presumably he could still practice law. On the other hand, its going to be very difficult for anybody to hire him. Some of the charges he is facing here. A judge would ask somebody. So if you hired
Michael Aven Nate today to represent you, a judge will ask that person, you do realize some of the things hes charged with, for things he represented to clients. A judge could allow him not to be an attorney or represent anybody in this intervening time period between todays arrangement and the actual trial date. So i think will be it will be very hard for him to practice law, which could obviously exacerbate some of his financial woes. Tom, as always, thanks, so much for being there. Well check in with you later this afternoon. Tom knows everything about everything. Including the silver tie. Next,

Human Trafficking. You may not realize it, people are waiting in plain sight in jobs you or your family benefit from. Reporter
Los Angeles International airport. A gateway to the world for tens of millions of passengers a year. Passengers who may be witnessing a horrific crime without even knowing it. This is the mens restroom at lax. The reason im in here is because of this. This is an advertisement targeted towards victims of human traffic him. They want the victims to call this
National Human trafficking hotline. The reasons here in the bathroom. Its one of the places trafficking victims are ever alone. From l. A. , we flew to washington, d. C. , where those calls are answered. This is where it all happens, folks are reaching out seeking assistance, needing help with a situation. Reporter calls come in from all over the country and involve potential victims from all over the world. The
International Labor
Organization Says over 40
Million People are trafficked word wide. The vast majority in labor slavery. That includes jobs in domestic service, farmwork, restaurants, construction and service industries. Do you have any best friends . You may get more sex trafficking calls. That is not reflective of what kind is the majority . Labor traffic has to be forced the against your will to work. You to the you were going to be a manager, it turns out you are forced to be a made. Back in los angeles, this attorney works on behalf of trafficking victims at the
Thai Community
Development Center here there the majority cases i see are labor trafficking cases. A lot of times they go and work at a restaurant and arent paid correctly. They feel they cant go anywhere else. A lot of times victim dont self identify as victims. Even though they might be essentially a slave . Right. We met to meet some of the trafficking victims shes represented. Hi, jacob. This house is a handful of 1,100 trafficked migrant thai farm workers lived today. If you wanted to go home to they would, were you able to go home . I couldnt, because they took our passports. Everybodys passport they took away . Yes. Reporter they lived and worked in conditions like these in hawaii and washington state. They were even given 9 a day to live on. That stopped after a month. Because it wasnt what they were promised. They arranged for a labor attorney to visit the farm and the traffickers found out. The supervisors actually came back with some
Security Guard with guns. They had short guns and long guns. Eventually the u. S. Granted them tea visas, which were given to trafficking victims. They were able to bring their wifes and children over from they would. What does it make you feel like your parents have a tough time to give you your life in l. A. Oh my gosh. Its hard to describe. Reporter hard to describe, everyday can be imbug with us. As producer arnie hinkle and i found out in
Monterey Park outside l. A. Arnie was tipped off there are
Human Trafficking victims living on that corner . Yes, right down the street. So heres the building. Im a journalist. We are doing a story about the economy in the area. Okay. So he says he has been promised a lot. It hasnt panned out. He says bosses here are very bad. He says american bosses are better. The chinese bosses are very bad. Reporter to speak more freely, he came out on the sidewalk with us. So he says a lot of times the chinese bosses in his experience, they havent paid him what they were going to pay him. He says he is here 20 days and howe off to florida, new york. Hes working all over the country. Reporter if you wanted to leave and go back to coin, could you go . As soon as we asked that question, he told us he left something on the stove. We followed him. We were greeted by a man inside that same apartment. Okay. Shut up. Okay. Okay. Okay. It was clearly time to leave so we headed to show our footage to deputy stoengs
City Attorney who heads an antilabor task force. He seemed to be free to talk about it until you asked about china. There are some signs this might be a trafficking situation. Hes not wearing handcuff itself. Hes not held inside this building. How do we know for sure . This is the challenge. Its not a physical force. Remember, coercion takes different forms. Thats the important part. That was
Jacob Soberoff reporting. Its not just sex trafficking. Its anybody thats able to be manipulated. Guess who can be manipulated, illegal immigrants. Joining us is my ra wiley, senior justice, help me understand this as we are cracking down on immigration are the rights even worse tan before . There is no question we see it in the statistics the cases of labor trafficking is on the rise. Actually, sex trafficking is going down as labor trafficking is going up. Some of this absolutely is about undocumented immigration and the vulnerability. But even documented ill grags. Sow come on an h 2 visa. Are you a guest worker. If you are mistreated as a slave having been made promises by an employer that brought you in. You dont have freedom to go to another employer. You dont. If that employer fires you you are undocumented and subject to removal. This is one of the problems with the failure to coordinate law enforce. First responders who often are employerss and the department of justice and
Homeland Security in terms of 50i6ding who is a victim and how do you respond to that as a victim . With labor trafficking or sex trafficking, the issue is similar. You are without power. You may not know what the resources are. You are less likely to use those resources because you got to make a living. You dont want to go home necessarily. And are you vulnerable to threats. Remember that many victims are literally beaten, raped, some are threatened with physical force. Sometimes physical force against their families back home. If they have families back home and those traffickers know who they are. There are all kind of ways in which people are coerced. The other issue i think is important is knowledge. Know whack your rights are and where you can go. All right. Mia, thank you so much for that if someone you know is being victimized. Call the
National Human trafficking hotline. 18883737888. Lets put that out on our social media as well. Look around, ask people. If you think someone is in a dangerous position. Ask them. Try to find out. Many cases they will not volunteer that information to you if you didnt ask for it. Now lets move down to the state of texas, where lawmakers have approved a program for safe gun storage, going against the nra. So will texas republican governor push it through . Well find out. Texas Governor has a major decision on his hands right now. Approve new
Gun Legislation or side with the nra. The state
Legislature Passed a bill last night that includes money for a new
Public Service campaign for safe gun storage. This isnt supposed to be controversial, right . Its a campaign about safe gun storage. It was started after a
High School Shooting last year that left 10 people dead. The nra vehemently opposes the idea. Joining us now, abby livingston,
Washington Bureau chief for the
Texas Tribune. For those of us not from texas, can you explain to us why the nra is against a campaign for safe gun storage. It doesnt affect how anybody gets a gun or gets to keep a gun. The nra has not weighed in publicly on this. I think culturally, what you will find especially after santa fe, we saw a lot of conservative lawmakers get out in front of gun owners to lock up their gun. When you have a gun, you need to be responsible with it, i think were waiting to hear what the nra is going to come out and say and also what the governor is going to do. Lets talk about what the governor is going to do. Where do his allegiances lie on this one. The
Texas State Legislature is not something youd call a liberal group of people . Not at all. This was negotiated among mostly republican lawmakers. The governor has a line item veto power. He can take that track and it wont blow up the entire budget bill. I am genuinely curious where the governor comes down, and i think all of texas is waiting and watching. Abby, good to have you here. Abby livingston is the
Texas Tribune
Washington Bureau treef. Believe it or not. Huawei supplies many rural parts of america with internet service. Everyone who thought hey, its good on the government for banning huawei, now were in trouble. Many rural americans who need that service could be cut off. How lawmakers are planning to fill in these gaps next. Were the slowskys. We like drip coffee, layovers and waiting on hold. What we dont like is relying on fancy technology for help. Snail mail we were invited to a y2k party. Uh, didnt that happen, like, 20 years ago . Oh, look, karolyn, weve got a mathematician on our hands check it out now you can schedule a callback or reschedule an appointment, even on nights and weekends. Todays xfinity service. Simple. Easy. Awesome. Id rather not. Welcome back to velshi ruehl. The president s recent ban on
Chinese Technology could put cell service for millions at risk. The company is a
National Security risk to u. S. Communication. Now,
Rural Wireless companies are warning they could face prohibitive costs to replace their huawei equipment or they could go out of business. Joining us now, nbcs ben popkin. Is there any solution for this . The average person would say they dont consider their cell service a business, its simply how they communicate. They view it like a utility. Right now, wireless is electricity in the 21st century. What did we do back in the 1930s . We had a
Rural Wireless sorry, we had a
Rural Electrification act which subsidizes the building out of these systems. We dont have but we dont have that now, so a lot of these
Major Companies that make lots of money by providing wireless in cities dont do it in rural areas. Its hard to make the business argument for them. Which is why theyve gone to huawei, because theyre so much cheaper. What theyre looking for is a subsidy. There have been 700 million put up as a possible subsidy. From whom, the government . Its part of a bill put forth by several senators to bipartisan bill. But people in the industry are saying, its short of what they need. This may be somewhere between 800 and a billion dollars to get rid of all the huawei equipment because apparently we dont make this stuff in america . We dont. We dont make enough of it. And the other problem is, they could do this outlay of cash, and do this whole rip and replace system, but what if trump changes his mind. Just last week he said in one breath, he says, huawei is a
National Security risk, but they could be part of the trard deal. Possibly a deal gets made and they release these restrictions. If people are dependent, if theyre dependent on wireless to communicate, should any part of the country be dependent on a
Chinese Company . Thats the big question. The possible national theres overall strategic
Security Risk having us dependent on the technology. Huawei says we can accept them at face value, and theyre not linked to the government. The question is, what if one day china flips the switch and says activate. Thank you for watching velshi ruehl. Ill see you back here at 3 00 eastern many. Ill see you at 9 00 eastern.
