Eyes, and she was worried about the lasers and got out safely and heard shot after shot after shot, and six people were shot and rushed to the local hospitals here. One of them is still in critical condition, and the other five are being treated at the hospital, the gunman who is described by witnesses here as a coworker, and somebody who worked the line here sorting packages, and they believe he was 19 years old showed up around 5 45 this morning, and again, one of the witnesses told us on camera what she went through, and this is what she had to say. I was by my cage doing my work and i heard the klink, and something drop on the floor, and i looked and i saw a knife laying on the ground, and i dont know if he was going to pick it up, but when i saw what he was wearing, i ran the other way. He was in all black and in camo, and he had a camo vest, and he had assault rifle, and he had bullets strapped to his chest like rambo, and he loaded trucks. He loaded three of the trucks, and he was good. I mean, he did the work. He was quiet for the most part, and we would joke around sometimes. I mean, i never thought that he would do Something Like this. Reporter that is liza aiken there tells us what she experienced and saw, and she has no real indication of what may have set him off. This young man strapped with weapons apparently according to authorities later took his own life, and you can see over my shoulder, there are Police Officer s wi officers with a portion of the airport here closed down. They are going through to make sure that there were no devices left behind. Those employees who were at work and went through this horrific experience have been pulled to the side now by the Fedex Company and providing psychological counseling, and liza aiken among them in shockf a hearing and looking this man in the face. Thank you, kerry. And now the breaking news regarding the weather. 11 more people died in a devastating tornado outbreak and bringing the total number of people to 28 killed since sunday, and the danger is not over. Millions of people over the southwest, and the northeast could be affected by the Severe Weather today, including tornadoes, and large hail and flash flooding. Okay. Lets go right now that is a glimpse of what happened at least with 58 twisters touching down yesterday in alabama, mississippi and tennessee. One hospital took a direct hit. A tornado blowing out the windows and tossing around vehicles like toys. Workers say that they heard the storm and took cover. And we heard it, and we got the employees and the patients in the clinic in the safest place we could get, and huddled down, and 14 of us in the building at that time. We honestly felt gods hand of protection around us. The clinic is destroyed, but we are all saved. We were praying the whole time. And this is the perspective of the aftfiliate wtva, and the were on the air live when the to tornado hit tupelo, mississippi, and the meteorologist told them to take cover. Go now and the area hit hardest now, could see a repeat of the weather, and the meteorologists are warning that the atmosphere is reloading to produce super cells throughout the afternoon. And Gabe Gutierrez is joining us from vilonia, arkansas, and i am seeing people tweeting out the water, and the supplies they have brought in to help the people there, but from the dark ominous clouds behind you, they are still dealing with the bad weather. Well, hi, there, tamron. A lot offage activity here, and we are not expecting the Severe Weather here this afternoon, but other states like alabama and mississippi could be, in line for some Severe Weather, but there is a lot of activity, and thankfully the lack of rain this morning has allowed friends and families and relatives to come here, and this is aspen creek drive, the medical subdivision, and been here since yesterday talking to people. It is an amazing site. A lot of military families here, and another woman Michelle Mcgee had moved here a year and a half ago and searching for whatever she could yesterday, and back here today, and people are cleaning up, and this is the hardest hit town in arkansas, with eight confirmed deaths in vilonia, and throughout the state, 15 deaths. We are learning more about the victims, and we spoke with dan waszem, and his son was away on sunday, and he served in the Arkansas National guard and he had been deployed to iraq, and shielding his young daupgt daug ages 5 and 7 years old, and saved them, but hit in the head with a 2x4 and passed away. And his father is coming to terms with the loss. He gave his life for his daughters. Yes, he did. Trying to protect them. He is truly my hero, and im going to miss him greatly and what a great dad he was. He really loved those girls and loved his wife, and what a great son he was. You know. You could not ask for a better son. Still, a lot of cleanup go g ing on here in vilonia, and it is a devastating scene out here, and hundreds of people were out here including the national guard, and vilonia lost a 14 Million School set to open in the fall, and right now the victims range from 7 years old to 72yearold throughout arkansas. But again, the south is dealing with a potential for Severe Weather later today in parts of alabama and mississippi and here in arkansas, where they are cleaning up and will be for quite a while, tamron. Thank you very much. Let me bring in msnbc meteorologist bill karins, and he has an update for us. And bill, the meteorologists are saying that the atmosphere is going to reload, and explain what that means. Yes, it is not what you want to hear, tamron. The clouds will take the charge out of the battery, but what recharges it is the moisture coming up from the south from the gulf, and of course, the sun. Unfortunate lit over the area of concern today, we have perfectly sunny skies today, and the sun is full bore charging up the battery today, and that is what we mean by reloading. Yesterdays map, and the storm report, we had 81 tornadoes reported yesterday compared to 30something range there sunday night, but the difference of sunday night, we had what was an ef4 go through arkansas and so it not just the number, but how strong they are, because the stronger they are, the more damage they do like we saw in arkansas where tupelo got hit by the ef2 and weaker and didnt take as many lives, and the what will the atmosphere have in store, that is the question. And when you look back for mississippi and al alabaabama, s where the storms will form, and i expect around 1 00 in mississippi where we will get the first tornado watch out, and then warnings at mid a afternoon for that region. And the red is the greatest threat. And yes, 76 Million People in the threat of Severe Weather, but most of it is gusting winds and not tornadoes. The ones that are longtrack, and intense tornadoes are more like likely from the hattiesburg area to laurel to meridian to tuscaloosa and that is the greatest ear of concern, greatest area of concern, and the Storm Chasers are out, and if we have anything happen, that is where it will be. And we are still a couple of hours away from it, but make sure that Everybody Knows it is going to occur, and have safe plans. They are releasing the schools early so that kids are not trapped on the school buses, and now we will see what happens when the storms come. And now, more fallout on the comments of owner of the clippers Donald Sterling. We are expected to learn sterlings fate as an nba owner as nba commissioner adam silver go going to be holding a press conference at 2 00 p. M. Regarding the league investigation, and many former players and owners are encouraging him to come down hard. That includes Leslie Alexander who says this guy has no place in the family of the nba, and whatever it takes, we have nik sure this kind of event never happens again. And the owner of the Atlanta Hawks said if it is sterling on the tape, then he should be given the maximum penalty for his comments. And tonight, some are calling for the allout boycott, and including mark jackson who had this to say on the appearance of the dan patrick show. I would not show up in the Staples Center in an ideal world, and i would prefer the clippers and the warriors to play in the Staples Center with no fans to speak volumes. But many of the fans are saying it is not about the ow r owner, but the team. And there is a growing movement on social media urging the fans to wear black to tonights game, and many are calling it the clippers blackout. And the head coach doc rivers says he hopes that the fans will show up tonight. You know, we need them, and i can tell you that. We need unbelievable support right now from other people, and we are hoping that we get that. And meanwhile, the chips are falling fast for the Clippers Organization as more than a dozen sponsors have cut ties with the team or are in the process of doing the same. Kia, and carmax, and state farm, and so many Virgin America joining in. Joining me is john lucas, executive drirector of john lucs enterprise, and jeff, i want to start with, you because we are waiting for the announcement from the nba, and we dont know a lot about the clauses of them available to them, and what have you found out . Well, the nba byliconstitutn are private to the owners only, but talking to people, and adam silver says he has a broad range of powers and what we are learning about that is anything from the indefinite suspension to a suspension with the time limit on it, and then finally some kind of financial penalty that will, you know, in the big picture help him to make a decision, Donald Sterling, on whether he wants to own the team moving forward. And we know in the past, that 2. 7 million is the fine that he paid in the housing discrimination where he said that he didnt want blacks and hispanics and people with children renting, and he said that blacks were dirty according to the deposition which is alleged, and so we know that he is willing and has paid the fines before, and so is this really about the fine or is the league looking of a way to strip them of the ownership if that is possible . Well, the fine is not important to Donald Sterling at all, but this is the place, and the arena where he has felt welcomed, but he is not going to be feeling welcomed at all. And people will make him feel unwelcomed, the coaches and the fans, and that is maybe the impetus to force him to sell the team eventually, but it is difficult to thes for out an owner. And in a sign of solidarity, the miami heat put their jerseys in the middle of the court, and it was not against their team, but for the nba, and so what Donald Sterling said is wrong, and abhorrent, and no place for n it in the nba or any place i associate with, but at the same time, it is decision i make, and you have to be very, very careful when you make blanket statements about what people say or think, because it is a very, very slippery slope are there. And that is his reaction, and what do you make of what cuban is saying . Well, first of all, this is not new with the clippers. This has been going on since i was in the league in 1976. There have been habitual cases in the circumstances, so because of media and press, these things have quietly been talked about, but they are now coming out, because this young lady has a recording of it, and now everybody is on the bandwagon, so it is not that it is new, but it is another taboo within the league that is now surfacing that we kept in the bad boy or the good boy syndrome that was out there, but never dealt with it or spoke about, because you could be black balled or sancti sanctioned. And that is a good point. I want to explore that more regarding that players many of them, aftricanamerican, like yourself, knew that it was going on, but felt that, you know, you could not join forces. Looking at someone like a Michael Jordan and yourself, hugely successful individuals that there was a fear of being blacklisted if you spoke out, and am i seeing this clear ly that is what is happening . Well, i dont know if you knew you would be blackballed, but you knew there would be consequences, because you didnt have enough evidence to follow up, but now that someone has been allegedly saying it on tape, people are speaking out, but before, and you have to understand that this is going on, but it is in a different form. What we have to be able to do in the solidarity of the league is to begin to have more dialogue about it with something that we knew about and didnt say anything about before. We are knocking down walls that have never been knocked down before, because of the media actually being involved in things that they werent social media, and in this case, it is not in the basketball arena that is exposing this, but it is in the private life that means that people who he employed as africanamericans have been consequence of his comments. So anybody who has been in the league was surprised at what came out, but i think that the volume that it is getting has made everybody jump on the bandwagon. And well, marvette, let me ask you about the Public Relation relations surrounding this. It is said it is a plantation mentality and plantation mindset, and we know no business, no thriving business wants that association. This is bigger than the clipper, and it is about the league, and there are some people who say that David Stearns should join up, and Say Something in the press conference today, and how do they spin this if it is a spin . Well, it is impossible to spin, because it is a cancerous plague that has permeated throughout the nba and having represented players for the last 20 years, it is an issue as he just stated. And i do not believe that we can allow the intoxicating high of racism that has permeated the league to continue. He is right, the players are thes a sets, and not owner, and the owners control the nba, and the owners have the power, and the nba is a family, but it is interesting that the nba implemented a strict dress code for the players but now they have to the address the moral hatred that lives within an owners heart. So the nba is the minority and we have to step up as the power of community, and the players is to be clear, deliberate and strategic in ensuring they band together, and get a result to lead to change within the nba. And do you believe that we are seeing it . I mean, a young generation of multimilli multimillionaires who may not have the same fear factor that genre fered to that others thought that they would have to suffer repercussions, and lebron james and dwyane wade and people that are larger than life behind the scenes, and are they prepared to walk in some form if the nba does not act . Yes, the difference is that you have a star player like chris paul now leading the union, and a player like lebron james standing up. They are the icons and the pillars of the nba, and there is no nba without them, and the nba is a global business, and the only thing that people respond to is the economics of it, and the fallout of the sponsors is what is going to lead to change. Unfortunately, as he stated, this has been an issue in the nba for years. I know that for firsthand representing the players, but i do know that now is a different time, and the players are standing larger because they have the force and the gravity behind them. And quickly, jeff, the New York Times had an editorial sorry, mr. Lucas, go ahead. And tamron, one of the points she is making is big, and it is that the funds that the Players Association and things using come from the yoowners and the collective bargaining agreement, and so what the players have to do although she is still saying that the players represent the fight, and it is much bigger and it is a global issue, and what has to be investigated and done is that now it has to be a criteria of what an owner needs to be represented for. We have now gone through the referees and gambling, and gone through the players with the drugs and the alcohol, and issues of me being one of those, and we are clear of that, and now we have gray players in the league, and doing, that and the owners are gay players in the league, and doing that, and now we have to infiltrate what the owners are doing, and the standards of hiring and what they are doing, and the policies envision. You dont know what people are going to go d going to do and that one that is one of the things of the beauty of the basketball. You look at the game of the game, and i would throw you the ball if we could win, but i might not want to associate with you away from the arena, and that does not make any sense to me, that i am good enough to work for you, but i am not good enough to have this relationship with you. And to be at the table. And not only in football, not only in basketball, but in football and all sports globally. It is a global issue. And jeff, because i am almost out of time, but again, the New York Times had an oped saying that there is a legal obligation, because the league has sheltered him going back to David Stearns, and are you hearing the rumblingings in the background to explain how it is going so long . Well, if it is not david stearn, it is adam silver who is going to have to speak on his behalf, because the New York Times made a point that it is going on for a long time, and bubbled underneath the surface, and has to be dealt with, and the nba is going to be so disappointed it got to this point. And thank you, mr. Lucas, and if you are available to come back on, and i can tell you that you are fired up, and hopefully, you are available tomorrow, and we can talk more about this, and on a lighter note, you dont want to throw me the ball on your team, because we would lose for sure, but i look forward to talking to you and getting your reaction of whatever comes oout of this big announcement by the n nba. Thank you, sir. And the reid report will have a live coverage of the nba announcement at 2 00 p. M. And n
