Seeing none, why doenlt we go to Jonathan Larner for seat number 2. Good morning, supervisors and staff. Im john larner and im seeking the second seat of entertainment position. I want to contribute my works and efforts for the work and continue to be a catalyst for Night Entertainment and night life ventures. Ive been a San Francisco resident for 30 years. I became a business owner. After more than 18 years in business and over 4500 shows, the independent has become one of San Franciscos live music venues, ploys over 75 people, many of who have been with us for over 15 years. In 2016 i took over as general manager and partner at the pearl one of the most unique bases in San Francisco and anchor in the growing dog patch neighborhood. I helped venue that not only has beautiful weddings but place to nonprofits for meetings as well as fundraising events. The pearl ploys many people many of whom started with us on day one. In 2018, i joined the satisfy a denord taking over an existing venue now 115 was a different challenge. How do we bring 21st century without losing the look and feel of landmark buildings. The answer is with care and determination two things that mark my career in the local industry. My profession first professional with the Entertainment Commission was in 2003 since we know. Working to mitigate issues with the neighborhoods around my venues have grown and weve had to grow to become more integral if not disruptive community. The bonds that weve built with the city and neighborhood is what makes us, as well as local Entertainment Industry succeed. Im asking for your support in gaining the seat in Entertainment Commission as more than 20 years venue owner as many more years in the entertainment locally. I bring a experience and passion that will continue to the growth and success of the entertainment in San Francisco. Entertainment venues are a huge part of fabric of our community and i believe that it will integral to our success of the city. If appointed my time in the commission will be spent helping this industry and my community thrive together. Thank you. Thank you, mr. Larner. Thanks for meeting with my chief of staff. Any questions or comment frz Committee Members . Seeing none, lets go to trina crawford. I am not seeing anyone on the , online at this moment. Let me double check my list. I did not receive a response regarding my invitation as far as i can tell. I did send a notice to their email address. All right, why dont we go to Steven Torres. Good morning, supervisor peskin, chan and mandelman. Im Steven Torres, i would like to thank you for considering me for the seat of two for San Francisco committee Entertainment Commission. Im a veteran in which i have served as a server, bartender and Community Activist. Specifically as a queer person of dollar working in the industry, im fortunate to have experienced the industry but also experienced its challenge and inequities, a sad reality is that the thousands of workers who facilitate its success are those that face barriers and abuse and marginization. The fact that weve been displaced is and one which has ripple affects for the tourist industry and everyone who livers here. When faced with occupational hazard, unpaid wages and harassment, many workers in the city have no representation or recourse if theyre in the books at all. For a decade, i organized an annual restaurant and bartender inindustry event to identify common issues. Since the pandemic, the challenges have been compounded by a slow recovery that has left many of us reluctant to return to jobs. Business owners are experiencing staffing shortages never before seen. If our vibrant industry is to survive to make sure that theyre safe and inclusive is key. In addition to that as essential to this industry future health and sustainability. I have observed the work of the Entertainment Commission for many years and feel that while current commissioners understand many of these challenges having a voice that reps many is essential. Even more so, because this is an industry that has work of the union. My voice and experience will not compliment the work it will expand the focus. One can see many ways in which i have done can aid in these efforts. In particular my perspective from the culture district and network which serves to conform alignment with department sxds commission to see preserve and lift up our most vulnerable communities, i feel can be an ses with Industry Enterprises and communities in which they operate. The many communities that make amenable like no other. As a queer latino night life industry worker who understand the value of my fellow workers, the plight of workers trying to hold on in difficult times and the preservation of our most vulnerable communities and our San Francisco heritage. I hope you entrust me to unite these interests and make our beautiful San Francisco industry a benefit and asset to all who exist within it. Thank you. Thank you mr. Torres. Are there any members in the public in these chambers who would like to testify . Clerk yes, members should line up to speak now along the side of the room by the window. For those listening remotely, please call 4156550001, enter meeting id, 24947994152 pound, pound. We our first inperson speaker come to the podium. Youll have two minutes to speak. Speaker thank you. Hello, my name is dylan, i lived in San Francisco for over 20 years and i own and operate several restaurants throughout the city. In addition to these businesses of a partner of a small music venue just up the street called cafe denorth. Has been named that since 19 07 and been integral piece of the Entertainment Industry. It has survived prohibition, earthquake sxz recession sxz more for over 100 years. But the honest truth it came to nannedering through the pandemic, our stages were dark and the cost to keep the business alive were weak. This brings me to the reason why im here today. Im here to speak on behalf of john larner. When our venue was on the last leg, john doubled down the effort and joined the company to breath life into the business. Through his leadership and general charm, im happy to report cafe denorth is on a sol
