From news copter 7, you can see First Responders frantically working. Osha confirmed that one worker was killed and another injured. The Morris County Prosecutors Office is in the early stages of an investigation into the cause. They have not released the identity of the workers. I lift air conditioning units all of the time. It is very dangerous. It is a lot of weight. Reporter the workers, especially the one who was killed worked for industrial process and equipment there out of sussex. The company had no comment when we contacted them this afternoon. Tim fleischer, channel 7 news. A driver is under arrest after police say she hit an officer with her car while trying to avoid getting a ticket in manhattan. Investigators say the drive wears double parked and being suddenly took off and hit the two officers. Other officers who happened to be nearby pulled her over. Two other people were also taken into custody. Both officers were hurt but are expected to be okay. Well, it is expected to be a watershed moment for u. S. cuba relations. This is the first president to visit cuba since calvin coolidge. Reporter it is the first for a sitting president since 1928 and the first trip to cuba for president obama since he made history shaking hands with raul castro and restoring diplomatic ties with the cuban government in december 2015. Given the choice between going in december when frankly it would be a vacation down to cuba or going now trying to get some business done, we believe that the time is right to go. Reporter this trip, the main event among several huge u. S. cuba events in the works, including a Major League Baseball preseason game and big entertainers lake beyonce, elton john, and the Rolling Stones negotiating concerts. President obama tweeting in part, hes traveling to cuba to advance our progress and efforts that can improve the lives of the cuban people. The slasher is still on the loose this afternoon. Kemberly richardson is in soho with some of the exclusive details. Kim . Reporter well, liz, witnesses tell me this all went down in a matter of seconds. First, let me show you whats happening behind me. Have been waiting online since last night. Theyve been waiting to get into a clothing booth that sells tshirts and sneakers called supreme. Its really popular with the skateboarding crowd. In fact, the victim, take a look this is a picture after the slashing. That 21yearold man was inside the shop. Witnesses tell me he had finished and come outside onto lafayette street. It was just after 2 00 this afternoon. The suspect, apparently approached, and tried to rob the victim, take his bags. The victim refused and the suspect pulled out something and cut the victim. The young man grabbed his face. The suspect took off on foot. Sources tell Eyewitness News he was wearing a ski mask. He ran up on him and said give me your stuff. He didnt want to give him his clothing, so the guy slashed him and ran. He didnt even take the item that the guy got from the store. Reporter was it a big cut some. It was a big cut as wide as it was open, bleeding a lot. Reporter this is video of the victim right after the slashing. He was taken 0 New York Hospital downtown. Wear told he does not have lifethreatening injuries. Back here live at this Clothing Store thats on lafayette just south of houseton street. Today they were debuting the string summer line. They tell us this is always a big event and that crowds gather out here. For now, were live in soho, Kemberly Richardson, channel 7 Eyewitness News. There was another slashing late last night. A restaurant worker was cut in front of customers in manhattan. The worker escorted him out but the teen came back a few minutes later and slashed the worker before running away. Hospital where he received 120 stitches to close up that cut on his face. He has battled fellow republican candidates. Now it seems the latest war of words is with the leader of the catholic church. Chris who is also michaels father says he is recovering but has paralysis in his arms and numbness in his face. The legion also honored the familys dog, who stood his ground as the bear attacked. Because weve got one more day of chilly sunshine, the weekend outlook does push the numbers into the 50s. Thats well above average by almost 15 degrees. Then theres a winter storm coming next week. Still have a northwesterly track to the wind. It is cold when you face the wind. The windchill factor will remain for this evening. By tomorrow, the wind sort of let up. There is a calmness to the atmosphere tomorrow that should as the winds pull back, well see the temperatures approaching 40 degrees tomorrow afternoon. So that will be the improvement in what we feel. Central park falling into the 20s tonight. We just took the number down to the overnight lows going for 22 degrees. Heres the windchill factor going into late tonight. See how it improves . By tomorrow morning, were expecting the low 20s and a windchill factor only a few degrees aof that. I think that the winds could make it feel colder on saturday by a few degrees even though the thermometer reading is still in the mid50s.
