Nonetheless, they are ready and as are the other enforcement agencies. Overnight Eyewitness News was there as manholes were secured and sealed in areas where security will be very tight. Also light fixtures were inspected and the base which have a compartment that can be opened were also sealed tightly. As of 1 00 this morning, the parking restrictions we have been telling you about are in effect. Many people have already moved their cars. The nypd is prepared to tow any vehicles that may be parked in those restricted areas. We know providing security for pope francis is a tremendous challenge for everyone involved with his care and safety but mayor de blasio says they are prepared and they will approach the challenge with a great deal of confidence. No one is nervous. They have the resources they need. They have the equipment, the personnel. Its a great deal of confidence. That 16yearold student from South Shore High School wag stabbed in the stomach by another teen from jon jay high school. The teen has nonlife threatening injuries and is in the hospital. Three teens were taken into what is just as disturbing is how many people are standing around watching without doing a thing. Now log activists are calling for action urging the victims of these after school beat downs to press charges formally. Investigators say that the gunman was wearing a red hooded sweater with lightcolored shorts. This is about 1 30 yesterday morning. Police say he shot cab by barry momadu. He was the father of three children with a fourth on the way. Retired dennis star james blake is determined to use his officer as a force for lasting change. Blake met with met two hours yesterday with the mayor and Police Commissioner. Blake is foaming over an undercover officer forcefully arresting him on 42nd street back on september 8th. For example, these concrete barriers are popping up in the areas secure for the popes arrival providing a layer of protection for the pope on east 72nd street where the pope will be staying at the papal nuncio on the upper east side. Take a look. Eyewitness news was there as crews began to seal and secure manholes in areas that will be very tightly secured. Also, light fixtures on the street there. They will inspect it. At the base of those lights there are compartments that can be open. Those compartments were tightly sealed overnight. At of 1 00 this morning, parking restrictions are in effect. Many people have moved their cars. The nypd is prepared to tow any vehicles that might be parked in one of those restricted areas. By now we know providing security for pope francis is a tremendous challenge for everyone involved with the care and safety. Mayor de blasio says they are prepared and they will approach the challenge beginning thursday with a great deal of confidence. I think we worry a little more about these special events than we need to. The city keeps going, businesses will be open, the government will be open and functioning. Everything will go on as normal.
