america this morning. developing at 4:30, suspected car thief leads police on a wild chase before crashing at a police station. a brutal attack caught on camera in brooklyn. 10 people gang up on a man outside a restaurant. presidential hopefuls have one more day to win over voters ahead of the state's primary and they will be out in full force. good morning, i'm lori stokes. >> i'm ken rosato. it lanes closed down, that's in both directions. jersey turnpike western spur, northbound, 18w up in to the george washington bridge, two lanes are closed down, that's until 5:00 a.m. we have street cleaning rules in effect for today. one more thing i wanted to tell about, [lin battery tunnel, two-way traffic. one lane open both ways. traffic coming in one lane, traffic going the other lane. police chase down a suspected car thief and it ended in a violent crash in from of a police station. >> reporter: this up with the outcome the car chief was expecting, this senedded if front of the police -- in from of a police station. the damaged cars are still on that man was trying to steal a car from a kfc. police say he rammed a cruiser and crashed in to several other cruisers and a few of the officer's personal cars parked on the street in front of the station. after stealing this white accra from the parking lot of the kfc, the suspect continued on with the missing tire. hitting a cruiser, several other cruisers are four parked cars. that is when the stolen vehicle caught fire. one officer was injured when his cruiser was rammed. he has neck and back injuries but is expected to be okay. police are investigating a vicious beating outside a restaurant in brooklyn, on saturday night on myrtle avenue. a gang of 8-10 people punched kicked and stabbed the 26-year- old victim. they beat him with bar stools. the victim suffered cuts to his he was taken to the general hospital. police are looking for the suspects. we are now one day away from the presidential primary in new york, the candidates are fighting for every vote. the front runners are holding double digit leads. dray clark is live with the story. >> reporter: donald trump is perhaps the only candidate comfortable enough to look beyond tomorrow's primary, he has a significant lead. for the other candidates on the democratic side, every tv appearance, campaign stop, and rally matters. there is no time to waste. hilary clinton has reason to dance. it's one day before the primary, she holds a 10 point lead over bernie sanders. she intends to the end his long run of victories. >> it's easy to diagnose the and george stephanopoulos, answering questions from voters across the country. classes held after reports of a gunman on campus. police scoured the 500-acre campus last night. state university police received reports of an armed suspect after 9:00 last night and believe the suspect may have run off in to the woods. we spoke with one of the students that tells eye witness together to stay safe. >> it's a real since of community here. everyone is kind of rallying together to stay safe, stay this groups and not be alone walking around. >> no reports of shots fired and the campus is considered safe. classes and activities will go on as scheduled today. there is a national emergency in effect in equidore where the death toll in the earthquake risen to more than 260 with 2500 people hurt. teams are searching through the rubble for survivors. 7.8 quake hit saturday night on the pacific coast. the quake destroyed homes and left roads impassible cutting off communities from help. aid workers are gathering supplies to bring to those in need. here in the united states those with loved one in equidore are hoping to get in touch with family. >> we made phone calls to make sure they were okay. there is a lot of families and relatives to people here in new york and the united states that are concerned about what is happening to their relatives and to people in their hometowns. >> civic organizations plan to gather in queens to plan relief for victims of the earthquake. the deadly earthquakes that hit japan are having a ripple effect on the entire country's economy. the twin quakes hit southern japan cutting off power and water. toyota says it was forced to stop production at one of its factories which will impact other plans throughout japan. 42 people were killed in the quakes. japan's prime mainster says the search -- minister says the search is a race against the clock because of the threat of land slides. supreme court will hear arguments on immigration 46 states filed the executive order. last february, a federal judge in texas blocked the program and appeals court upheld the decision in november. one of the issues the caught will decide is whether president fills the sky after dozens of cars go up in flames. teenagers take a bulldozer on a joyride and end up causing da police investigating a dead whether i shoot -- deadly shooting that caused problems for new jersey transit riders, at 7:00 last night. transit trains on the essex line were stopped because of police activity but now up and running. more than 100 cars, 100, went up in flames in california. thick black smoke could be seen after the fire erupted at a recycling yard. 100 firefighters had to battle the flames. it is unclear what sparked the flames. seeing video of a dramatic rescues that coast guard pulled a kayaker out of a wild fire. the 24 year old man plunged 80 feet down the falls saturday. officers were lowered from a helicopter, 180 feet above the river where they station. police say the suspect stole a car from a fast food parking lot, officers tried to pull over the suspect when he crashed in to a cruiser, the suspect crashed in to several other parked cars involved in a shooting and robbery in brooklyn. one of the suspects grabbed cash from the register while the other threatened a worker with a gun. when the worker tried to grab the weapon k the man 32-year-old man is fatally shot by police after officers say he reached for a gun. george tillman, a father of 5. sunday morning, plain clothes officers noticed him holding an open container and approached him. he ran. officers say he reached for this gun prompting them to fire. >> this is a very quiet neighborhood. nothing like this has ever happened here. not as long as i have been here. >> a total of four officers discharged weapons hitting him several times. the 32 year old started to run after shots were fired. disturbing video shows a police officer striking a high school student with a baton. nypd internal affairs unit is investigating. and striking 18 year old yo dy. ar begannas is suing officer philips and the city because of the officer's actions. a suspected drone strike triggered investigation at london's heathro airport. the plane was checked out and cleared for the next flight. authorities made no arrest but the investigation is on going. 51 degrees, clear skies effect for today. we are following developing chase ended in a crash outside of a police station. police say the suspect stole a car from a fast food parking lot, officers tried to pull over the suspect when he crashed in to a police cruiser. the suspect crashed in to several other parked cars in front of the jersey city south district precinct. the driver ran out of the car when engine caught fire and he was later caught. one officer was hurt and expected to be okay. search is on for two men involved in a shooting and robbery in brooklyn. it happened inside a deli on new lots avenue and east new york. one of the suspects grabbed cash from the register , the other threatened a worker with the gun. when the worker tried to grab the weapon, the man opened fire hitting him in the hip and grazing his hand. the victim is in the hospital. we will have a live report ahead on eye witness news at 6:00 a.m. police are investigating a restaurant in brooklyn, it happened saturday night. punched kicked and stabbed, of a 26-year-old victim. the victim suffered cuts to his chest, shoulder and arm and taken to elm hurst, police are looking for the suspects. weeks of campaigning have come
