Madrids Regional Government has announced it will euthanize the dog owned by a spanish woman infected with ebola. The spanish nursing assistant has the first case of ebola transmitted outside of west africa. She got it caring for a missionary who died from ebola in madrid last month. Here in the u. S. , medical teams are scrambling to save two patients who are battling ebola. In nebraska, free lance american journalist, ashoka mt[po, is now being treated with an experimental drug, the same one that doctors in dallas are using to treat patient thomas eric duncan. The cdc just gave an update on their fight to contain ebola just a short time ago. I can say one week in, that there are real signs of progress. Not only in dallas but also around the world. The reverend Jesse Jackson was in dallas today. He met with family members of thomas eric duncan. Jackson is urging americans not to panic over ebola and stresses that the virus is curable. Nearly 100 people have returned to their homes at a Delaware County apartment complex after fire forced them out overnight. Firefighters tell us there was thick smoke inside the building. Some residents were trapped and had to be rescued. This fire started late last night at the glenn croft apartments. Three people were taken to the hospital. They had minor smoke inhalation. The red cross says only one Apartment Unit was seriously damaged. Fire investigators havent said what they think sparked this fire. Family, friends and local dignitaries gathering in trenton for this Memorial Service held in memory of the head of the Cooper Health system and his wife. The couple died after a fire was set inside their home in somerset county, new jersey, last sunday. Their bodies found inside their bedroom. Investigators say the fire was arson. Still no word yet on who may have set it. Today, both were remembered for their service to the community. He was one of those Public Servants in the best sense of the word. Because he loved the state. You know, he was a republican but he never served for republicans. He served for the people. He was a statesman. He brought a level of respect and dignity and a wealth of resources to his network throughout the state of new jersey. Authorities still havent said exactly how the sheridans died. New information about a bucks county man who survived a suicide pact that left his mother dead. Hes been sentenced to time served in jail. He pleaded guilty to aiding a suicide, recklessly endangering others and risk a catastrophe. 59yearold karen was found dead in april. He was sentenced to approximately six months hes spent in jail as well as seven years probation. The judge ordered him to undergo a Mental Health and drug and alcohol abuse evaluation. The attorney for the head master of a wilmington prep school asked that child pornc charges against his client be dropped. The trial for 54yearold Christopher Wheeler got under way today. A state trooper testified wheeler tried to scrub his laptop computer as Police Closed in on him. He resigned last year. Hes elected to waive his right to a jury trial and have his fate decided by a judge. And now to the latest on the ftd School Budget crisis and the School Reform commissions decision to cancel the contract of the teachers union. Today the mayor voiced his support of the plan saying the src didnt have other options. The cancellation means teachers will have to contribute to their Health Coverage and retired teachers will also be impacted. Some of their benefits will no longer be subsidized. Principals and janitors alike, taking pay cuts over the last two years. They have already agreed to Similar Health care benefit changes. I support this and hope others can see it for what it is. She want to use that doll to show she can fit inside of a suitcase, one that Raghunandan Yandamuri said it would be impossible for her to be put inside of. Yandamuri has admitted to prosecutors that he did remove jewelry off the 61yearold womans body after she was killed. Weve been in and listened to the rambling of an individual that has a lot of evidence that is piled against him. He seemed to be attempting to come up with a story. Reporter First AssistantDistrict Attorney kevin steele says he plans to poke holes in that story. But Raghunandan Yandamuri spent two hours telling a jury what he says happened inside a king of prussia apartment back in october 2012 is the truth. He merely had a lot to say. He just had to organize his own thoughts. He showed remarkable memory. Its amazing. But even asking a question, he just kept going. So he just knew what he had to say and he said it. Reporter yandamuri is representing himself. He chose to take the stand in his own defense. He spoke to the jury for more than two hours today, telling them two men force him to go to that apartment and he had nothing to do with the killings. He says he didnt tell police about that because he was afraid hed be blamed for the crimes and he also says the confession he gave police was forced and that investigators ignored his plea to find the real killers. The search for 10monthold saanvi venna lasted for five days. Once her father came home and discovered her grandmother stabbed to death. Yandamuri in his confession led them to the body of the baby who wasc suffocated in what they called a botched kidnapping attempt. The explanation on things were very limited. Reporter yandamuri has spent the day telling a jury that two men by the name of matt and josh forced him to write the ransom note, take him to the parm and those were the men who carried out the killing. Prosecutors repeatedly asked him in the time since the killing and the time that the babys body was found did he ever call police or the family . He told prosecutors in front of the jury, no, because he was concerned for his own safety. But today and in court documents, revels lawyers said the allegations are entirely baseless and called straub a disgruntled losing bidder. So it is going to be a warmer day tomorrow because of the sunshine. You can see the first little area, first batch of rain moving very quickly out of here.
