Five people are charged with abusing five children inside a Delaware County house. Nbc10 obtained these mug shots of four of the five suspects. They are charged with crimes ranging from assault to having sex with children. It sounds a home on 7th street. Police say all of the suspects either lived in the house or hung out there. All five victims are under the auj of 12 and as young as 1yearold. The children were punched, slapped and shot with bb guns. Well have the latest reports coming on at 6 00. Students out in the cold for the second time in nearly two weeks. A Philadelphia Charter School announces it is closing its doors. School leaders say they just cant afford to stay open. We are live in north philly. What are School Officials telling you . Reporter they tell us they had tried to avoid this scenario for about a year and a half, but enrollment numbers still kept going down. They say they had no choice but to notify parents that theyre going to be closing. When did you find out that the school was in trouble financially . I never knew anything about it. Reporter parents are frustrat frustrated. I get a phone call from my daughter. Now where is she supposed to go. The neighborhood schools are overcrowded to capacity. We put them in Charter School because we want a better education for our students. Reporter thats going to have to happen someplace else. The options are there is space in our traditional Public Schools and well be reviewing what space is available for students. Were actually going to put together an online application process for parents. Reporter he says parents should visit neighborhood schools soon and begin enrollment processes. He says parents need to obtain transcripts to begin applying elsewhere. Its horrible. Not just for the kids, its hard for the employees because they have nowhere, you know, to go to work. Reporter now, according to the school district, theyre going to be updating their website to give parents more information in the coming weeks and theyre going to work with the school to try and place those students. Some parents have already found placement at other Charter Schools and theyre going to be putting their kids in those schools starting monday. The teachers and staff here will too be out of a job. They do qualify for unemployment. Reporting live, nbc10 news. New information today about the young woman abducted off a philadelphia sidewalk. Suspect Delvin Barnes faced a judge for his bail hearing today. George spencer was at philadelphia federal court. Reporter federal prosecutors told the judge there are no circumstances or conditions under which barnes could be safely released before his trial. His District Attorney didnt even challenge that. Hes clearly by the facts of this case, a danger to the community. Reporter she told us what she told the judge. That Delvin Barnes is a flight risk who should not be released from custody ahead of his trial. The defense did not challenge that. The only words that barnes spoke, a mumbled not guilty plea meaning his trial process can now begin. Hes been indicted. The judge will schedule a trial date. Reporter in the prosecutors motion for pretrial detention, they say after barnes kidnapped his victim, he tied her up and held her in his car truck for some of the time before she was rescued three days later in maryland. In the courtroom today, there were no representatives of the victims family, only barnes who appeared uncomfortable, glancing around the courtroom nervously at times. He faces a maximum of life in prison if he is convicted in this case. With his plea today, the lengthy pretrial phase can now begin even as prosecutors say they are continuing to gather evidence. Nbc10 news. Philadelphia police are on the hunt for this man. Omar johnson, hes wanted for an Armed Robbery and kidnapping in logan. Two men were getting into their car when johnson ran up with a gun. He and two others forced the men into the car. One victim gave up his pin number and the suspects took about 600 from an atm. The other victim gave up 4,000. Police are also looking for a pair of crooks targeting walmart and they need your help. The pair was caught on camera stealing computers. It happened earlier this month. Police say the same two were captured on Surveillance Video inside a walmart in south jersey. In west philadelphia, thieves demanded money from a man at an atm machine. One man looked like he had a gun. The victim gave the suspects his cash and cell phone. Police believe the same suspects are responsible for several other robberies in the area. Penn state is scrambling to a. C accommodate fans as 115 tickets were swiped for the game. The reason for that is they feel another casino would lessen the money generated by harrahs in chester. We think the gaming control board ought to take a strong look at what has occurred in Atlantic City and realize that the same thing very well may occur in pennsylvania. Well, look, its still very politically unpopular in the basin side the republican party. Many of them have made these promises to do what they can to try to repeal it. The first time they have control of the entire congress, they feel as if they need to focus on that. Its not necessarily where leadership is. I think because of the Supreme Court case, some congressional leaders can say to those anxious to go after the Health Care Law now, pause, lets see what the Supreme Court does. If they rule in favor of the challenge, it will mean that states that do not have staterun exchanging that the federal governments been doing in a lot of states, it could mean that premiums skyrocket. So there will be a showdown and the federal government about whether to start a state exchange. If you dont have it, it could undermine the entire law. Open enrollment comes the same time as the Supreme Court decision. That could have an important political effect delaying a Health Care Showdown possibly. It could. You have folks in the Obama Administration that believe all of the politics surrounding health care is among the explanations as to why they expect lower enrollment numbers than last year. And of course that in itself could end up costing money. Then you have the added fact that this year we have the employer mandate kicking in for the very first time.
