In just the last few moments we learned that Pennsylvania State police learned that two officers shot at the state police were racks in Blooming Grove pike county has died. He says the other officer is receiving medical attention, a suspect is on the loose. Again, a Pennsylvania StatePolice Officer is dead after a shooting at the state Police Baracks in pike county. We will continue to update this breaking news story and bring you new details throughout the morning. New this morning in our area. Philadelphia police are looking for the driver in a deadly hit and run. Nbc 10 was in north philadelphia where police found the car abandoned on bambry street. Nbc 10 was also at 25th and allegheny where the victim was struck and killed. Police say a speeding rental car hit the victim who was crossing the street around midnight. The impact threw the mans body into an oncoming vehicle. The driver of that car did stop to help. Also new this morning, one person is dead after a fire in south philadelphia. Nbc 10 was on the 2800 block of South Marshall street where fire crews began to battle the flames shortly after 10 00 last night. At this point we dont know what started the fire. Authorities have not released that information yet. They also have not identified the victim. Today a philadelphia high rise will be reduced to rubble in just about an hour from now. The queen lane apartments in germantown will be imploded to make way for new housing. Nbc 10s Monique Braxton is live on the scene where final pr preparations are under way. People are out up and at them, right . Thats right. Several dozen residents are fathering around. They have their lawn chairs at hand and dozens of dignitaries are on the scene. In a little more than an hour the 16story building you see behind me is going to be imploded. Just to the left here were showing you a s. W. A. T. Team truck as you know, s. W. A. T. Team is very experienced in dealing with explosive materials before and the aftermath. We also have a tent set up for city officials arriving here on the scene. Just a short time ago we heard from the office of Emergency Management that they have activated a mobile command post to coordinate Public Safety operations here at the implosion site. Philadelphia Housing Authority tells us about 100 people are being evacuated over to the wissahickon high school. Many are choosing to go to relatives. Right now were going to take Dunkin Donuts and going to my sisterinlaws house. I anticipate a lot of dust and street has already been messed up from the trucks coming back and forth. Theres holes all in the street. Its not right for us to have to get up here at 5 00 in the morning. No one ever told us we were supposed to get up at 5 00 in the morning. They just said they were going to blow a building down today. So as you hear some Philadelphia Residents are not excited about having to leave their homes. But they tell us residents who have been evacuated within a one block area can expect to be back inside their homes by 11 00. For now, a large crowd waiting to see the implosion. Thats the fate of one of two men who were both attacked during a robbery during a possible hate crime in philadelphia. This happened around 10 45 last night near 16th and chancellor in center city. Police say that two gay men were assaulted by a group of men and women. A friend of a witness snapped this photo of police arriving to help the victim who was not knocked unconscious. That witness jeff nagle heard the commotion from his upstairs apartment. The guys were beaten pretty brutally. The one guy was passed out over here with the blood on the sidewalk when i called 911. You heard some slurs that were inappropriate. Very insensitive, especially in this very diversity. Nagle snapped this photo of the suspect when they took off. The victim suffered facial fractures and other injuries. In delaware 45e89 officials are waiting to hear if 12 hospitalized system have a respiratory virus affecting kids all along the country. The children are from different parts of the state. A few of them are in the intensive care unit at ai dupont Childrens Hospital approximately all are respiratory symptoms that are consistent with the enterovirus strain that have hit about 1,000 people in the midwest. Most kids who have the virus have normal cold symptoms but doctors say it could cause children with asthma or other respiratory problems to have difficulty breathing. I think its really important to recognize that if your child is sick, especially if your child has a fever greater than 101, please keep them home. Dont send them to school or child care or out sinto the public until their fever is gone for 24 hours. At Dupont Hospital they have an area set aside just for kids with respiratory symptoms. Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson who has been indicted for child abuse has turned himself in to police. His lawyer says that peterson is accused of using a branch or a switch to spank his 4yearold son. He says peterson regrets the incident and never intended to harm the boy. The vikings have benched peterson for their game tomorrow. The peterson controversy caps a weekend in which the nfl has come under fire for the handling of the ray rice Domestic Violence case. The fallout from the ray rice case has many football fans asking who is telling the truth in all this. Nbc news sources say rice told Roger Goodell in june that he punched his then fiance in the face. That account contradicts goodells comment this week that rice was vague when he told him what happened. After video of the incident was released, rice was cut by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the league. Goodell could face more questions from reporters on sunday. Special operations so vital to this effort . I think weve got allies that are unwilling to be directly engaged. Kerry yesterday pledged 500 million to help syrian refugees. Analysts see the money as a down payment for arab support against isis. In pakistan, authorities have arrested ten men in the 2012 attack of teenage activist mulala and two of her classmates. An Army Spokesperson says the detained men were believed to have attacked mulala on orders head of the pakistani branch of the taliban. Mulala was shot in the head when mass militants opened fire on her in october 2012. She has been an advocate for girls education. She was a Nobel Peace Prize nominee. The search is under way in the western pacific for a missing pilot after a crash involving two u. S. Navy jets. The navy says the second pilot was rescued and is in fair condition aboard the Aircraft Carrier uss carl vinson. The two jets crashed yesterday not far from wake island. Wake island is 2300 miles west of honolulu. An investigation is now under way into what caused the crash. Now to the touching story of a marine from north jersey. Come on out. U. S. Marine Sergeant Aaron alonzo lost both legs after stepping on an ied in february. A couple months later jim met aaron while visiting Walter Reed Hospital in washington, d. C. Jim runs a program out of detroit that raises money to buy the special chairs and the decorated sergeant didnt waste any time putting it to the test. Taking his daughter north first time. This thing is awesome. When i first got injured, the only thing i want to do is be able to walk and play with my daughter again. And walking is taking a little bit of time. And theres always going to be limitations. But this is just going to increase my tree come. Its an all terrain robotic chair designed to go where a regular wheelchair cant.
