New from overnight, a police chase that spanned two counties ended in a crash that sent one person to the hospital this morning. It started in philadelphia near the roosevelt boulevard exit ramp on to i76. It ended seven miles away in Plymouth Meeting, where the motorcycle crashed. And nbc 10s jesse gary is live at the scene of that wreck. Jesse, what have you learned . Reporter rosemary investigators say this originally began with a traffic stop. Thats at least what state police are trying to do. The chase ended here at the intersection of Germantown Pike and chemical road. First responders tended to the rider who crashed down an embankment at this intersection. Investigators say the unidentified motorcyclist originally exited the blue route at ridge pike turned on to chemical road. He then sped east on chemical and lost control and crashed trying to escape pursuit in the business mark. He has been rushed to the hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries but he is in state custody. And police are trying to determine why he initially ran when they tried to stop him on roosevelt boulevard over in philadelphia that sparked this sevenmile long pursuit that had a crashing conclusion here in Montgomery County. We have some new information this morning about a shooting and police chase that led officers from delaware to pennsylvania. The chase began where two people were shot last night and continued on to i95 ending in Delaware County on Fairview Road in fulsome. Overnight, we learned it all started when officers on routine patrol found the man and woman with gunshot wounds. While at the scene, officers saw a car take off and the chase was on. It ended with that crash in folsom. There police took two men into custody. No word yet on exactly what charges they will face. Also out of Delaware County one person is dead after getting hit by an amtrak train. This happened around 7 00 last night near curtis park station in sharon hill. We want to show you a photo from one passenger. This was taken at the scene. Amtrak Officials Say the train was traveling from washington to boston when it happened. Nobody else was hurt. A teenager is in Critical Condition after an atv crash in philadelphias cobbs creek neighborhood yesterday. Atvs were racing down 58th street with two teenagers riding on each when one of the atvs flipped. A 15yearold boy was thrown off and hit his head on the pavement. Witnesses say he was not wearing a helmet but Good Samaritans rushed over to help including two nurses who were in the right place at the right time. We lost his pulse and started cpr until ems arrived and they jumped in. The other nurse and i are both trauma nurses so our advice would be to wear your helmet, because a brain is a terrible thing to waste. Reporter police tell us they are planning on a major crackdown on atvs being used on city roads. It is against city law. New this morning, upper darbi police say a man turned himself in after he dropped his wallet during an alleged robbery. According to police fred jones grabbed 140 from a woman just after she withdrew it from a wells fargo atm on wednesday. Then he dropped his wallet as he was running away. On thursday the Department Posted this picture of jones on twitter, saying quote, mr. Fred jones, good news we found your wallet. Bad news you dropped it at the robbery scene. Please turn yourself in. And police tell us that he did just that yesterday. The Philadelphia Police department begins a new Training Program tomorrow for recruits at the National Constitution center. 80 new Philadelphia Police department recruits will attend a unique Training Program called policing in a more perfect union. It walks officers through exhibits at the constitution center, while focusing on the role police play in protecting the public. The program is designed to show new recruits and remind seasoned officers about the concepts of individual rights fair and impartial treatment, and the promises of the constitution as they are applied today. This morning, Philadelphia Police have a person of interest in connection with a deadly hitandrun. This happened friday night in fishtown. We first told you about it yesterday morning. Police say the driver of an suv truck and killed a man along Delaware Avenue and then took off from the scene. The victim was 24 years old. Yesterday in wissinoming, police confiscated an suv matching the description of the vehicle involved in the incident. No arrests have been made yet in the case. From our Delaware Bureau a wilmington woman is now facing her fifth dui. Troopers arrested 54yearold ann baker just after 1 00 in the afternoon on friday in newark. They say she ran a red light. Baker has four drunk driving convictions dating back in 1987. An attempted carjacking in georgia didnt go as planned, thanks to a Good Samaritan and a victim who decided to fight back. This woman had just stepped away from her car when four men climbed inside but the victim jumped into action by jumping on the hood of the car. Then a Good Samaritan pulled out a pistol and shot the driver who is expected to live. Police made an arrest. Good samaritans were also working in florida, rescuing a driver a mother and daughter from their burning rv. The men happened to be passing by in separate cars when they saw the vehicle in flames on the side of the road. The fire blocked the exit to the front door so the men pulled the mom and daughter out of the back window. A maul town out in the midwest is dealing with a dangerous epidemic. There have been nearly 90 cases of hiv among intravenous drug users in scott county. With the new program, people will receive enough needles for one week. Its a way to deal with the needle sharing that Authorities Say has caused the outbreak. Health officials are also offering free hiv testing, drug treatment referrals, and vaccinations for hepatitis a and b. Dallas hospital is seeking a dismissal of a lawsuit filed by a nurse who contracted ebola. Nina pham claims that the hospital was negligent in training the staff to treat ebola and properly protect themselves. Texas Health Resources denied the allegations. The company says Presbyterian Hospital followed all federal guidelines and acted responsibly to protect workers. The company also says that pham should have filed a workmans compensation claim rather than filing a civil suit. She is seeking an unspecified amount of damages. A philadelphia man who has been fighting ebola overseas is helping a mother connect with the son she has not seen in 17 years. Phil carroll works for save the children and recently hes been over in liberia. One day, he started talking with his driver and learned that the liberian mans mother lives in northeast philadelphia. She came here to work and send money back to her family in west africa.
