People woke up in the middle of the night to an earthquake that shook the region 6 15 our time. The quake hit act six miles southwest of napa. We got this video in from our nbc affiliate in San Francisco. You can see bricks fell from the top of a building. Several after shocks were felt in the napa wine country after the initial quake. No tsunami warnings are issued. Several are without power at this hour. You can see a this earthquake did do damage. Ted florendo brought us early word of this earthquake. You have a brother that lives in that area. Tell us how strong of a quake this is. Understandably he was very scared. It happened as they were sleeping in San Francisco. He lives 10 miles south of where the center was at. He said there was violent shaking going on. Hes been in many earthquakes before. This seemed to last the longest. It was only 10 seconds. When shaking that long, you wait for the house to buckle or roof to cave in. Thats why they were understandably scared when it happened. We want to show you that where it took place. Thats where my brother lives. North of that is the center. A little about earthquakes now. Its reported a 60. A major earthquake is 7. 0 to 7. 9. This is considered a strong earthquake. Can still cause quite a bit of damage. The magnitude scale 5. 5 to 6. 0 is slight magnitude as far as damage it can do. It create slight damages to buildings and structures. Major earthquake obviously a lot worse. This still could cause damage which we have reports that come in from twitter. We just mentioned it. They get magnitude 6. 0, 500 in the u. S. Per year. That seems like a lot. You factor in a 2. 5 to 5. 4, they get 30,000 of those a year. There really isnt a lot of these. This is the strongest earthquake to hit the bay area in 25 years. Of course my brother has been through a lot of earthquakes. This is what he described. A loud bang followed by entire shaking of the entire house for what seemed like forever. New this morning, it was a report of a half naked man thrown from a car that brought Philadelphia Police the avenue. The man was naked from the waist down when he was tossed from the sedan. Five passengers in the car at the time were detained. Were told the mans injuries are not serious. Philadelphia police will be busy investigating three stabbings that happened overnight. The first involves a man in Critical Condition after an attack in west philadelphia. Nbc 10 was on the scene. Authorities tell us the 34yearold was stabbed in the neck here around 2 15 this morning. Police have not made any arrests. In kensington, police took a man in custody after he stabbed another man in the back. It happened after 1 00 this morning on East Allegheny avenue. Detectives tell us the 28yearold victim is in stable condition. In south philadelphia, a cook was stabbed by a coworker at snockeys oyster and crab house. An argument between the two led to the stabbing. The suspect has been arrested. The victim is in the hospital. No word on his condition. The search for clues continue today after two women were found shot dead inside a may fair home. This happened on the 4700 block of vista street. Neighbors tell us the woman who lived here, one of the victims was like a grandmother to everybody on the block. According to police, both were many their mid50s. One of the women was found downstairs, the other upstairs. Neighbors heard shots and saw someone run from the house. We spoke to one man, joey thomas, that told us police informed him one of the victims was his sister visiting the other victim at the time of the shooting. This morning a son is facing aggravated Assault Charges after he was shot by his own mother. The 78yearold Mother Told Police she shot her son in selfdefense after he said he would shoot her. This happened in german town. According to investigators the Woman Told Police her son appeared to be drunk, threatened to strangle her. Hes in stable condition after the shooting. Now to news from our trenton bureau. The search is on for a man whom Authorities Say posed as a Police Officer and sexually assaulted a store clerk. According to investigators, the man this this photo entered a store on South Broad Street and told the clerk he was a cop. As you see, he was carrying a small black radio and had a handgun on him. Police tell us he assaulted the female clerk in the bathroom of the store and walked and out flagged down a tan toyota corolla. Police dont believe the car was involved in the incident but looking at possible leads. If you have information about this man, Trenton Police would like to hear from you. The family and friends of a man are calling for justice. They robbed him from us. I dont understand. Relatives of alexis spoke at a rally in love park yesterday afternoon. He was gunned down earlier this month. His killer has not been caught. The 20yearold was shot outside the dell music hall where a peace rally was going on at the time. A Memorial Service was held yesterday for Patrick Sawyer and princess. Their mother lives in southwest philly. Princess was living in liberia when she got sick. Her brother was on a work trip and visited her. Thats when he got sick. She died after the day he visited. He died two weeks later, becoming the First American to die from the virus.
