Chris, it is raining and the heavy rainfall is in new jersey, but farther north and west, the temperatures are colder and were looking at icy conditions this morning making for haza hazardous travel pretty much all around this morning with only delaware being the exception where the rain has tapered off. Look at the strong, gusty winds. Center city that is a live view and first alert weather day at nbc 10 with the strong noreaster with the potential for flooding rain and a wintry mix to start with north and west. It will not last the morning. The temperature has already started to climb. Thats good news, as well. Light rain falling in philadelphia. Feels heavier with the strong, gusty winds and it is heavier at the shore falling at 0. 70 and into burlington county. North and west, that is where the cold air is lingering in the allentown area. Portions of berks county and even upper bucks county could see icing to start with as the temperatures are cold enough for some slipping and sliding this morning north and west. Now, in philadelphia, 38 degrees and stay well above freezing but right at the freezing mark for reading and quakertown. Jesse, are you seeing any flooding where you are . Were seeing inflooding on the roadways. Were standing on the gazebo on jfk right near east second. Were taking refuge underneath this gazebo because of the condition. Fierce wind blowing, which is probably the biggest impact along with the flooding on the roadways. So, if youre out driving early this morning, go extra slow on the drive down from philadelphia area wheres we hit large pools of water on the roadway along with straight flooding of the roadway, both the expressway and the garden state parkway to get down here to North Wildwood. Were inside storm force 10 and on the northeast extension headed southbound. We just reentered montgomery county. Over the last 20 minutes or so we were in bucks county in the quakertown area. The rain has lightened a bit which is a good thing for drivers on the road in bucks county, but when we got out of the truck, we could just feel the temperature drop and the windier conditions up in the quakertown area. So, drivers are definitely going to deal with different conditions near freezing, if not freezing conditions as the day goes on up in bucks county. Up here in montgomery county, i can tell you over the last hour, the rain has lightened up a bit. t hahp hc were not seeing as much ponding on this part southbound as we did a half hour ago. We are going, as most cars are going under the speed limit. That is your best bet. As long as you go a few miles under the speed limit and keep enough room in between the vehicles in front of you. Youll be okay. If you get too close to the vehicles, especially some of the semi trucks the mist they kick into your view is really dangerous. This is the scene of a fire earlier this morning where two firefighters were trapped as we zoom in on this row of houses. This is on middletown street. Two firefighters were trapped fighting this fire and were working to find out their conditions. We saw several more firefighters gather here at the scene. A man who ran into the middle of the street was hit by a car in the ron hurst section of philadelphia. Police on the scene told us the man is in critical conditionzu d both his legs are broken. So, why have a freezing rain situation that can lead to icing to start with. But this temperature will be climbing as the morning goes on. The worst of it, im expecting it right now. 38 degrees in philadelphia. Thats just rain. Temperatures will stay above freezing in philadelphia today and even tonight. And 35 in trenton, the rain is coming down there. Were watching the pocono mountains just quiet so far. This is camelback and you can see to put the picnic tables on edge and expecting four to eight inches of snow in the mountains and so far nothing coming down. A little fog and a little mist. That is it. Were watching that wet weather and the light precipitation move into the pocono mountains and not reaching the ground just yet. But this is all making it to the ground. That is icing north and west for allentown, into reading area and even upper lancaster county. And portions of bucks county, as well. And the drenching rain, you can see that at the shore, this is part of the flooding issue today. Not only the rain, but also strong, gusty winds blowing that water inland. So, flooding happening right now. And expected to continue this morning. In fact, high tide is between 8 00 and 10 00 this morning along the coastline. We could see the northern and western suburbs get a few scattered snow showers and accumulating snow showers with snow will be limited to the pocono mountains.
