Thats where about an hour ago, Philadelphia Police caught two burglars who found themselves surrounded by cops with no way out. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live at the scene talking to police. What are they telling you . Reporter vai, right now, police are saying that detectives are trying to match up prints that they took off the back door where these crooks broke into this target store, actually cut their way in, to see if they are connected to at least six other burglaries of target stores in pennsylvania, around philadelphia. Not necessarily in the city, but around the city. The two were arrested, as see said, about an hour ago, on the roof. In their backpack, they had a portable saw and also walkie talkies. There were also walkie talkies found in a vehicle parked here in the parking lot, and now investigators are trying to see if there is perhaps a third person still on the loose. Burglars were together and they had a walkietalkie, and theres walkietalkies in the rental car that was a pretty good distance away, although in the same parking lot. So, there may have been a getaway driver. Reporter and they are now have towed that vehicle over to an impound lot where they will check it for evidence, dust it for prints, et cetera. The two suspects over at northeast detectives, were they are being interviewed. They didnt give any information, their names or ages, but they are under arrest for burglary and other charges. This is video from april 19th. Police say three men came out of the restroom after closing and forced workers to stand in one area and then the robbers made an employee take money from the registers. They got away with between 10,000 and 30,000. None of the workers was hurt. It is 6 03 and 38 degrees outside right now. A possible firebombing is under investigation in west philadelphia. Crews responded to this home on west girard avenue around 2 30 this morning. Fire investigators are calling this suspicious. Neighbors tell nbc 10 they heard a loud explosion, then saw the flames. No one inside was hurt. Happening today in berks county, the tractortrailer driver charged in a deadly crash there will appear in court for his preliminary hearing. Police say Steven Bernier fell asleep at the wheel and was speeding when he crashed into several cars on Allentown Pike in maiden creek township. Two people were killed, a young veteran and a nurse. We have new information in the case of a man accused of kidnapping a philadelphia woman. The federal trial for Delvin Barnes was moved from next month to may of next year because the defense requested additional time. Barnes is accused of abducting carlesha freelandgaither off a germantown street november 2nd. Investigators tracked down barnes and the victim three days later in maryland. If barnes is convicted, he could face life in prison. Three more ironworkers have pleaded guilty in a case of union intimidation. Richard richie, William Odonnell and christopher prophet are among 12 people charged in the case. All but one have pleaded guilty. The members of ironworkers local 401 allegedly used violence and intimidation to get Union Members assigned to jobs on nonunion work sites. Two elected officials from philadelphia and a former Traffic Court judge are facing charges in a corruption investigation. Representatives ron waters and Vanessa Lowery brown turned themselves in yesterday. Philadelphias District Attorney says an informant recorded conversations of him giving money to waters and brown in exchange for their influence. Traffic court judge Thomasine Tynes is expected to enter a guilty plea later today. Two other state representatives from philadelphia are accused in this scandal but have not yet been charged. There is help for parents whose children attend a New Castle County charter school. The charter for Maurice MoyerAcademic Institution in wilmington is being revoked at the end of the school year. So, now families can learn more about enrolling their children elsewhere next year. A meeting is scheduled for 6 00 tonight at the school. Sources close to the Mummers Association tell us the performers will add a second parade next year. They will strut down main street in manayunk on sunday, february 22nd. Organizers hope the Mardi Gras Parade, which theyre calling it, will raise thousands of dollars for the mummers and help preserve the tradition. I think it just adds to the allure of manayunk. I mean, theres already the bike race that comes through here. I mean, its certainly a hub of all kind of entertainment. Organizers insist the mummers Mardi Gras Parade will be centered on families and there will be zero tolerance for drinking on the street. And we have new information on the hazing scandal involving a north Jersey High School football team. The sayreville Athletic Director is now suspended. The board of education made that decision last night. It came after younger players accused their teammates of holding them down and then beating and even sexually assaulting them. The head football coach is suspended from teaching and coaching. And seven players are facing charges. Principals at six turnaround schools in wilmington must be replaced unless delaware agrees to an exception. Thats the word from state education officials. The move could disqualify all but two of those principals who are in their first years at the schools. Christina School District officials asked for all three of its current principals to lead the turnaround effort, but education Officials Say federal rules and state law require new principals take over. A protection hearing is scheduled to resume today for nascar driver kurt busch after his ex broke down in tears yesterday, asking the judge to keep him away from her. Busch allegedly assaulted her at Dover International speedway in september. Patricia driscoll testified busch choked her and smashed her head into a wall. The alleged attack happened not long after the couple broke up, but buschs attorneys deny the allegations. We have new information this morning about the suspects in a bucks county coin shop robbery. David pirgrossie was arraigned last night and Daniel Leflar is awaiting a preliminary hearing. Police say theyre both seen at coin and collect yiblgs in bensalem last week. Investigators say in the men tied up several people, smashed cases and stole more than 5,000 in coins. New jerseys controversial red light Camera Pilot Program is no more. The Program Ended at midnight. For the last five years, drivers had been ticketed for going through red lights at 73 intersections across the state. It was all part of an effort to reduce accidents and compile safety data. When all of the cameras are unplugged, the department of transportation will then review the data and submit a report to the state lawmakers. Meanwhile, the department of energy predicts the average American Family will save around 550 bucks next year, thanks to lower gas prices. The department expects gas costs for the average household to be the lowest since 2004. Right now, aaa says the National Average is about 2. 53 a gallon.
