Reporter so on the last unofficial weekend of summer, a nearly deserted beach after concerns of rip currents and a community bracing for yet another hit from mother nature. This beach was closed just a short while ago and is now completely deserted just like beaches up and down the jersey shore which are expected to get hit hard throughout this holiday weekend. The uncertainty about this storm over the next couple of days is making a lot of people nervous over this holiday weekend. For the latest, we turn to our meteorologist. Rightfully so, jose. Were not looking at rain as the big issue with this storm anymore. Its more the fact that its going to sit and spin out in the atlantic for the next several days. Right now its moving to the northeast, but it will take that turn to the northwest tomorrow. All of this water is going to continue to get pushed on shore, so were still looking at a storm surge of one to three feet down in the carolinas. That could cause moderate to major flooding. Same goes for parts of long island where we could see that two to fourfoot storm surge on top of an astronomical high tide. We have Tropical Storm warnings throughout all the northeast, including parts of nantucket. Were looking at winds gusting possibly up to 40 to 60 miles per hour. Were going to see winds start to get very gusty along the coast, especially sunday night and throughout the day on monday. Wind and coastal flooding is our big concern. As for additional rainfall, were really only looking at just another inch or so of rain. More in the form of showers. It is that coastal flooding and those gusty winds that will make for a very messy next couple of days.
