Spend their sunday shoveling on hicks street in south philadelphia. The strategy is to tackle it sooner rather than later. A live look from sky force10 shows the snow blanketing the entire region. You cant see a rooftop or tree top without snow blanketing. A little bit earlier, skyforce10 was over cars just socked in by the snow in south philly. It will take some time before everybody digs out. You can see the person standing on the snowdrift. Didnt try to drive, but instead waited for a ride. The Streets Department report all 400 of them vehicles are out on the road. They continue to clear the roads so people can drive around. The mayor of philadelphia is reminding everybody to take it easy on the sidewalks, to take it easy on the sidewalks. The septa airport just reopened. All other Regional Airlines remain suspended today. Flights will gradually resume at Philadelphia International airport as we get on later into the afternoon hours. We have Live Team Coverage of the aftermath of the blizzard of 2016 from the philadelphia to the shore to the lehigh valley, even in the sky. Lets begin this morning with nbc10s matt da lucia aboard skyforce10 showing us the conditions out here. This is quite a view we have here. Were looking at some streets in northeast philadelphia where a lot of people are waking up to all that snow out their window. Theyre heading out there with their shovels, with the snow blowers and really they have their work cut out for them. Weve seen a lot of side streets. You see a lot stilt have snow covering them. A lot of the major roads, especially the highways are clear. Theyve been salted, theyve been plowed. Were starting to see more traffic move through them. These side streets are still a little dicey at this point. A lot of cars are buried under several inches of snow. You see some of these cars right here. They are buried under snow. And not just that, but when a plow comes through, it kind of pushes all that snow off to the side. You see someone dig out there. This is what weve been seeing throughout the area and hearing from the mayor of philadelphia and the Streets Department, as rosemary mentioned, the crews are still out there. The plows are trying to get to everywhere as soon as possible. The bus service, we hear, is going to be restored on a route by route basis. New Jersey Transit is going to be resuming its schedule. That just took place within the last half hour. Service is being restored there and throughout the area as people begin to dig out. Well head over to new jersey, to south jersey, to see how those roads are doing at this hour. But for now, im live in skyforce10, matt da lucia, nbc10 news. Thanks, matt. The weight of this snow caused this roof to partially collapse. Skyforce10 was over this scene a little earlier this morning in overbrook. Nobody here was hurt, but as can you see, crews had to get into the house and all the snow on the front steps made it difficult. As we continue our Live Team Coverage, nbc10s drew smith was reporting yesterday in North Wildwood at the height of the blizzard. The wind gusts were at full force. Drew is live this morning in wildwood again. A little steadier out there with the winds certainly dying down. Drew, earlier this morning we had the last of the high tide roll in. Tell us what youre seeing in the aftermath and the wake of it. Reporter not having to hold onto the hat this morning, which is good news, but take a look at the bad news. This used to be a beach. I was just speaking with a City Council Member. He said this is concerning. If the sea wall wasnt here, he says this we just shot some video down in wildwood where its still flooding, but its beginning to recede. Power crews are trying to restore power as the wind knocked out power. Still about 4,000 people without power in wildwood. Further up in avalon and stone harbor. He says the they have only reported small beach. He says drivers can head back out on the road, but he had this word of caution. Today i think the most important thing is for everybody to remember, if you go out on the roads, please respect the speed limits. Very important. Because there are still going to be places the roads are slick. Its cold. We are continuing to salt in those areas, but there still may be slick spots. Be careful. Take your time as you drive around today. Youre free to go out and do what you want to do. Go to church according to governor christie, there were fewer than 300 accidents across the entire state today. He says that was a testament to people staying off the roads.
