What could impact your doctor visits. Beaten, stabbed and left to die in a pool of her own blood, 33yearold Deborah Gulliver was found dead in a Philadelphia Park tonight. Her mother said her daughter did not die without putting up a fight. Whoever was there at that point in time, she put up a fight for darn sure. Im jim rosenfield. The killer and motive remain a mystery to Philadelphia Police. Denise nakano is joining us live from police headquarters. Denise, what an ordeal for the mom you spoke to tonight. Reporter certainly it was, jim. As she talked to us, she was in tears at some points. But she talked about her daughter and visiting the scene for the first time today. I wanted to take the path. I wanted to maybe pretend i was here. Reporter nancy retraced the steps of her daughters final moments today in a park behind Dobbins Technical High School in north philadelphia. She was dressed in flipflops and tank top and pocketbook and ponytail, going home. And never made it. Reporter her only daughter, 33yearold Deborah Gulliver, at 5 feet tall, was knocked to the ground, beaten and stabbed more than 12 times. Whoever, whatever was there, as that point in time, she put up a fight for darn sure. Got off of the bus and was on her way home. She cut through the park area as she normally would. Reporter then between 2 30 and 3 00 saturday morning, she was attacked in the park at 21st and lehigh and her pants were pulled down, although police say its unclear whether she was sexually assaulted. Nothing was taken from her, including her pocketbook and phone. The murder has put people who work and live near the park on edge. Everybodys talking about it. Everybody. They just stop, and everybodys in awe of what happened to her. Women are scared. Reporter nancy remembers her daughter for all the joy she brought to her family and friends. Bubbly, funny, happy. She had a big heart. Reporter detectives interviewed one man who discovered gullivers body but theyre still looking to talk to two young men who called 911 that night to report that they had seen what happened and still looking to talk to them because they left before police arrived. Thats according to a new analysis from the nonpartisan congressional budget office. Minutes after the report was released, three republican senators threatened to oppose a vote on the proposal this week. The white house blasted the report saying it has a history of inaccuracy projecting coverage. Senate republicans hope to get the bill passed this week. A juror in bill cosbys mistrial said he flipflopped during the long deliberations, but he finally decided the comedians own words showed he was guilty of Sexual Assault. When they were asking him, would he use the word consent, and he said himself that he wouldnt use that word, i was like, you just got caught redhanded. Like why would he say that if youre trying to defend yourself. Not everyone on the jury agreed. After 52 hours of deliberations, the jury announced it was hopelessly deadlocked and the judge declared a mistrial. Prosecutors say they will retry cosby. He has repeatedly proclaimed his innocence. He now says his tour will be more about education and Community Relations than Sexual Assault as announced a few days ago. A south Jersey Community is living in fear after a woman was found dead this weekend on her familys farm in camden county. 45yearold deanna skordo was found dead inside this home in winslow township sunday morning. She lived in the home with her father. Today, nbc 10 obtained the 911 call he made after his daughter was killed. He told an operator he thought he was dreaming. When he woke up to the sound of gunshots and commotion inside his home. Slow down. You said you were sleeping and you were woken up to two gunshots . Yeah, my daughter was laying on the floor. Is she shot . Yeah. Skordos operate a familyoperated blueberry farm. So far no word on a motive. Dueling demonstrations in the mayfair section tonight. Members of black lives matter rallied outside the district headquarters. They used a bullhorn so the Police Across the street could hear them. Theyre standing up for people impacted by police shootings. That includes the jones family. Two and a half weeks ago david jones was shot by a Philadelphia Police officer. Video of the shooting shows jones running away and being shot in the back. But police say jones had a gun. We want the 15th district to know we will continue to be back. Were going to continue to join forces with our allies. Were going to shut it down. Were going to call for change. Were going to do everything we can until this family gets justice that they richly deserve. Across the street officers from the 15th district stood outside listening. Neighbors also joined in, standing in support of police. Everyone wants to challenge the police. The investigation is still out. Right or wrong, the whole Police Department shouldnt be smeared. Right now, theres a bill headed to the Pennsylvania Senate that would protect the identity of Police Officers after theyve been involved in a shooting. Governor wolf vetoed a similar bill last year. A key witness took the stand today in the federal corruption trial. Deputy Police Commissioner Joseph Sullivan testified today and said williams pushed him to provide extra help for a man named muhammad ali, the businessman whom williams said was being racially profiled at Philadelphia International airport. Sullivan later contacted the fbi and said if he had known williams was getting expensive gifts from ali, he would have gone to the fbi sooner. After a series of setbacks related to his travel ban, tonight President Trump can celebrate a legal victory, at least a partial one. The state Department Said it will begin implementing the ban on travel from six muslim majority countries soon. The partial restrictions include a 90day clause on issuing visas for travel to the u. S. From those six countries. But the court also agreed with a Lower Court Ruling that the travel ban cannot be enforced against anyone seeking a visa who has a close relative here, anyone who wants to come here to study or teach and anyone who is coming to accept a job offer. President trump tweeted this afternoon, quote, very grateful for the 90 decision from the u. S. Supreme court. We must keep america safe, end quote. Also on this last day of the session, the Supreme Court is letting stand a gun ruling made by a federal Appeals Court here in philadelphia. The Third Circuit majority ruling allows people convicted of minor nonviolent crimes to apply for legally owned guns. The Supreme Court declined to hear the case which ruled in favor of two men in pennsylvania convicted of misdemeanors. The lower courts original ruling stays in place. A driver had to be rescued after a truck plowed into this home in montgomery county. Police say the driver was trapped for about a half hour, and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No word on what caused the crash. A former Atlantic County teacher pled guilty today to charges he had an inappropriate relationship with a 17yearold student. William jacobs worked at a high school, and said the 33yearold had several sexual encounters with the female student over a threemonth span earlier this year. Hell be sentenced in september. In delaware county, Police Working to figure out if one man is responsible for two armed robberies. This Surveillance Video is from the robbery saturday at Edible Arrangements in drexel hill. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is working to avoid a State Government shutdown on his radio show today, said hes operatimistic that there will b deal by friday. The republican governor is trying to make deals with the government controlled senate, one impacting schools and pensions and one involving the largest Health Insurance provider. And to create a space where all neighbors feel welcome, and for everyone to come together. There arent that many places that are public space that are free for people together in sort of Informal Community ways. Reporter up until a few months ago, this art work wasnt on these walls and these flags werent on these fences, but this community raised more than 12,000 and here we are with an extreme makeover. I think everybody here, if you look around, theres not one sad face. Everybodys got a smile on their faces and theyre happy to see the pool in such good shape and ready for the season. Reporter heres what the pool looked like before. It was very drab. A cage over the bleachers, no paint, and weeds in the grass areas. Neighbors removed the cage, painted those bleachers and added cabanas. Nice to see the potential for such a nice location in the city. Its been renamed the joseph r. Biden jr. Aquatic center. The Vice President was there for the unveiling. He worked here as a high school senior, even sat up in his old chair which bears his name as well. The neighbors always had my back. And god willing, ive always had your back. And ill always have it. It will be sticky and humid as all that moisture makes its way into the area. Well probably see a feelslike temperature at or above the actual air temperature. The dry air mass will be long gone by then. We will see a front, a frontal boundary that will move through the area triggering a few showers and storms. The best chance will be isolated storms on friday and saturday. Maybe a few more storms on sunday, and yeah, even the fourth of july. And fireworks, the wawa welcome america, and elsewhere, i would carry your rain slicker on the fourth, except if youre at home watching on nbc 10 because well have it all for you. Doppler radar right now, a few showers out in the Lehigh Valley, and actually out towards berks county, even in the poconos. No big deal, just scattered showers. Reading, and allentown, youll pick up a sprinkle as well. We have waves of the showers making their way in our direction. You notice them falling apart as they come into our drier air mass. But what we have is we have this huge area of low pressure thats crossing the eastern around northern great lakes, and we have this trough, basically like sort of a Conveyor Belt for storm systems. It comes right across our area. So what were going to be seeing is a few storm systems crossing this weekend. So maybe a scattered shower early, early in the morning before dawn. Otherwise, at this point, it looks like isolated only for tomorrow. Upper 70s, low 80s across the area. We are going to be looking at temperatures that are going to be near 80 again on wednesday. Beautiful sunshine with the westtonorthwest wind. Thursday, stellar in the 80s. The frontal boundary will bring the chance of showers and storms. 78 in fairmont tomorrow. Easton, you will see 78.
