Getting the homeless to come in off the streets. It seems keeping warm is easier said than done. Most of us, though, had somewhere to call home and get out of this cold. David holloman with the office of Supportive Housing tells me his outreach teams will be fanning out across the city during this snap of frigid weather, encouraging the homeless to come into the shelters. What they usually do, they have a Good Relationship with the majority of people on the street, so they are double checking the folks. Outreach program come out here and talk to me. He tells me hed rather be here than in a shelter, too much relocating and he cant bring all of his things. He picks up odd jobs in the neighborhood, sweeping the sidewalks, and relies on the kindness of strangers. What will you do tonight when the temperatures really drop . Ill be out here. Some new jersey counties do not have code blue programs, but a push is under way in the state legislature to change that. The s p 500 and nasdaq each lost more than 2 of value. The selloff comes after a manufacturing report from china. The losses are so big in china that trading was automatically halted by a new Circuit Breaker system there. Back in this country a federal judge says bill cosbys wife has to testify this week in a civil lawsuit filed against her husband. Camille cosby will testify in a defamation suit on wednesday in springfield, massachusetts. The lawsuit was filed by seven women who say bill cosby sexually assaulted them, alleging the median allowed his representatives to paint them as liars. Cosby is countersuing, accusing the women of making false allegations for financial gain. Cosby and his representatives have repeatedly denied all allegations of sexual assault. But cosby faces a preliminary hearing for a sex assault here in Montgomery County next week. Cosbys lawyer says the criminal case is unjustified and politically motivated. And today the prosecutor at the center of the case took his oath of office in Montgomery County. In his first public appearance as district attorney, kevin steele talked about the case ahead of him. The prosecution of attorney general kathleen kane, a democrat facing perjury and other charges after accused of leaking grand jury information to a reporter. Steele has presided over two preliminary hearings in which kanes charges were acceptability sent to a higher court for prosecution. Ive made a statement the other day about what we did in this case. And it was following the evidence where it leads us, whenever, wherever, it led us. Reporter criminal charges against cosby, the defense lawyer went on the attack, saying the case was only brought on for political reasons. We made a determination of charges needed to be brought and it was the right thing to do and thats what this is about. Thats simply what this job is, about doing justice. Theres no full budget deal just yet, but the state tells us Financial Relief will begin arriving tomorrow for some. The state is sending out more than 3 billion to school districts, county governments, and social service providers. Its the result of a partial budget signed by Governor Wolf last week. Lawmakers are back in work in harrisburg today hoping to end the sevenmonth stalemate. For the first time in eight years, philadelphia has a new mayor, jim kenney taking the oelt of office today. He brings new leadership to a city enjoying a development boom, but also still struggling with poverty in many neighborhoods. Joes prep in 1975. Kenney received his diploma a year later. A crash involving a delaware state trooper sent several people to the hospital. Sky force 10 over the scene just after noon in newark. In all, five vehicles involved. The injuries dont appear to be serious right now. Investigators are working to determine just what caused this crash. A mans Death Outside a bucks county Grocery Store has investigators asking questions this afternoon. Sky force 10 was also over bensalem around noon today. Police found the mans body on the ground at the entrance of the supermarket. His face was injured, but its not clear yet if he died from a fall or something else. A trip to the casino lands a new jersey couple behind bars. The two are facing child endangerment charges, accused of leaving their three children ages 1, 3, and 8 inside their car while they gambled inside parx casino last week. The kids were left alone for an hour and 38 minutes. The kids were checked out, released to other family members. Today were getting a first look at the rookie firefighter whos charged with arson for several fires in berks county. Cody widener was arrested yesterday after suspicious fires started popping up in his departments coverage area. The Fleetwood Fire Department says that this is one of many suspicious fires under investigation right now. These fires began in august and theyve kept the department busy almost weekly. Widener has been suspended from the department. President obama is starting 2016 with a renewed effort to tighten the nations gun laws. He had a meeting with attorney general Loretta Lynch and other top Law Enforcement officials, he extended his plans to tighten the nations gun control restrictions without going through congress. He said the recommendations hell announce fall within his Legal Authority and uphold the constitutional right to own a gun. But there are also ones that the overwhelming majority of the american people, including gun owners, support and believe in. The president did not specify what actions he plans to take, but the steps are expected to include expanding background checks on gun sales by forcing more sellers to register as federally licensed gun dealers. Security officials are studying the new video, this is a still image from it, it features a masked Man Threatening more action against the uk. The body of missing Country SingerCraig Strickland was found in oklahoma this morning. Strickland and a friend disappeared while duck hunting last week. He was the lead singer in a country rock band. The oklahoma Highway Patrol says it found strickland near an area called bear creek cove. The 29 year old and his friend both vanished during a winter storm. His friends body was found last week.
