A spokesman couldnt provide Additional Details on who might have been on board the plane. An faa official i reached out to so far has not been able to confirm the planes tail number. That type of aircraft is equipped with four seats but we dont yet know how many people were on board, nor the conditions of anyone involved. Now to your nbc 10 first alert weather. People trying to dodge heavy rain falling across the region today. Thats right. The problem wasnt just on the sidewalks. Drivers are dealing with flooding on the schuykill expressway and some other major roads tonight. The rain is still coming down, as you can see, on the live nbc 10 radar. Lots of color on the screen. The First Alert Weather Team is standing by with the latest information. We go first to chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz. Which areas are seeing rain right now in i see it all scattered . A lot of places are seeing rain and some places have been seeing rain for hour after hour after hour. Lehigh valley, one of those areas. Allentown has gotten it for several hours. Dover got it earlier. Now theyre getting it again. Philadelphia, we had it, had a big break but now more is coming. In the meantime, what ted reported at 2 45 p. M. , when the plane went down, there was a heavy shower offshore right in that particular area. We will find out more later, obviously. upper montgomery getting pounded. Berks county, especially eastern portion of the county, still getting pounded. Northern Chester County as well. This is the same view we have been showing you for the last hour. Im not just chasing where the heavy rain is. Its still over the same area. That goes from collegeville up through harleysville, marlboro, douglas, limerick continues to be in that rain. Some of this is one to two inches per hour. So that means with it not moving, some places got one to two inches just in the past hour. Allentown still in some of that heavy rain. You can see in the upper bucks county, richland, highland, that is some really heavy stuff going up toward easton right now. About an inch per hour in that portion of the area. Now, this other area, heavy rain and thunderstorms, fortunately this continues to move through dover because they have had over two inches of rain before and this is one more inch per hour. There is a flood watch for much of the area until 8 00 and flood advisories right now. Meteorologist Sheena Parveen will tell you how much rain has fallen. When we look at the rain totals so far, you can really understand why we are seeing flooding around the area. We have seen several inches of rain in some spots and in the same spots, we still have heavy rain falling. Heres a look at the map of the rainfall so far that we have seen. You can see by the coloring here it will show you where some of the highest amounts are. In Sussex County in delaware, we will start here, just north of lewes, we have seen a couple inches of rain. These are radar estimates but are pretty close. Milford, 2. 3 inches. Into parts of kent county, we have seen quite a bit of rain, right around dover, possibly 3. 5 inches. Again, radar estimates but we have seen a lot of heavy rain in these areas. 2. 3 inches just around the dover area. New castle county, not as much but we have heavy rain moving there right now. Glassboro, around three inches. Near bridgeton, about two inches. Closer to the a. C. Expressway, about 2. 5 inches. In the philadelphia area, over two inches Burlington County has seen quite a bit of rain as well. Through the Lehigh Valley, heavy rain is still falling. We have seen around two inches of rain or more in some spots. Lancaster county, over two inches. This heavy rain will continue. Future weather shows it continuing over the next couple hours but then by 8 00 to 10 00 tonight, i think a lot of this stla will start to lighten up. Overnight we will see improvement, especially through the day tomorrow. I will show you that forecast and we will keep tracking this rain. Mayor Michael Nutter announced the citys Bike Sharing Service will be offering rides from friday september 25th to sunday the 27th. Bikes can travel anywhere in center city except in the secure perimeter. The mayor also says deliveries and trash pickup are being arranged for businesses both inside and outside of the perimeter. Delvin barnes told a federal judge he needed money and kidnapp kidnapped carleesha gaither. Surveillance cameras captured him grabbing the victim, then forcing her into his car. Barnes said today he did it because he needed money to return to his home state of virginia. He claimed he wanted to see his daughter before facing charges there for a separate crime. Todays plea deal will put barnes in prison for 35 years with no chance of parole. Tomorrow marks 14 years since the september 11th attacks. Today a new Visitors Center complex, the flight 93 National Memorial near shanksville opened to the public. The 26 million facility will include an overview of the crash site, new exhibits and a learning center. Pennsylvanias halt on the Death Penalty is the focus of a hearing in philadelphia today. Governor wolf issued a moratorium on executions back in february. He called the system flawed and ordered a study that is due later this year. Philadelphia District AttorneySeth Williams challenged the moratorium. Days later. A state Supreme Court heard arguments from both sides today. Its expected to rule on the case but its not clear when. There were 182 people on death row in pennsylvania. The state has executed only three people since Capital Punishment was made legal in the 1970s. All three had voluntarily given up their appeals. A show of support for embattled Pennsylvania Attorney general kathleen kane. A group rallied in harrisburg to oppose a push to remove kane from office. They are calling for the state Supreme Court to halt efforts to suspend kanes law license as she fights criminal charges. Montgomery county prosecutors have charged kane with leaking grand jury information and lying about it. She says shes innocent. Its encouraging parents to register car seats to find out if theyre part of a massive recall from last year. The Department Found only 42 of parents register their car seats. Last year more than six million were recalled because of safety defects. It was the largest car seat recall in u. S. History but less than half of those car seats received the necessary repair. There are several ways to find out if your car seat has been recalled. Register online with your car seat manufacturer or fill out the registration card that came with your car seat. A salmonella outbreak connected to cucumbers has now killed two people. More than 340 others have gotten sick, including two people in pennsylvania. More than half of the victims are children. The tainted cucumbers were grown in mexico, then distributed to 30 states including new jersey by andrew and williamson fresh produce. All of the limited edition cucumbers that could be affected are now recalled. If you think you have purchased some of these cucumbers, return them to the place you bought them or throw them out. Another township in berks county is under quarantine tonight. The reason . The spotted lantern fly. The invasive insect has long been found. A second township has tested positive for the insect in two weeks. The quarantine means firewood, brush or yard waste cannot be moved. The spotted lantern fly has no known impact to human health. The heavy rain is still falling in the same area where we have been seeing the flooding. So around allentown, heavy rain, thats what the yellows and oranges show you. Easton, bethlehem area seeing the heavy rain. Upper bucks county near richland and 476, heavy rain is continuing. Its pretty slowmoving. Precip rates over an inch per hour so we are continuing to see localized flooding in these areas. Much of upper Montgomery County seeing the heavy rain still falling. Phoenixville seeing heavy rain into parts of berks county. Reading is right on the edge. About to get out of the heavy rain soon here. For this entire area, we do have a flood advisory until 6 45. Street and creek flooding occurring now and we expect it to continue with the rain thats still in place. Eigh its not moving very fast. Rainfall rates have been close to two inches in some spots. Lancaster county has been over two and a half inches. Looking through delaware county, closer to philadelphia, heavy rain across 476 in parts of delaware county. Easton as well. This is all moving, approaching the philadelphia International Airport and is moving toward philadelphia at the moment. A live look at center city, the heavy rain isnt here just yet but obviously, you can see overcast, gloomy conditions. Thats going to be more rain on top of what we already saw earlier today. For salem county, there you see the heavy rain. This is all moving in from new castle county. Raining across the i95 corridor there near wilmington. In kent county, more heavy rain. Riverview seeing very heavy rain down to harrington. A couple lightning strikes just south of dover. This area also a flood advisory is out because of the street and creek flooding that we still have in this spot until 6 45. Again, we have seen pretty decent rainfall. Thats been leading to flooded roads, a lot of roads around the area have been closed down because of that. Lewes finally getting rid of some of the rain but that is heading towards cape may now. Sea isle city seeing the rain as well. This whole section south jersey and delaware has seen rain totals anywhere from about one inch to possibly closer to three in those higher amounts. Again, thats what we have seen so far.
