Reporter Kathleen Kane hugged her 15yearold son before sheriffs deputies put her in handcuffs and took her out the back of the courthouse to prison. She said she was amazed by the letters of support, but despite the support and family ties, the judge says she committed crimes serious enough that she needed to be sent to prison. Its the First Time Since her arrest more than a year ago weve seen Kathleen Kane in handcuffs. She drove herself to court today. Again, a first time weve seen that. During the course of the case and her trial, kane was flagged by state agents, security details. Since she resigned after her conviction, kane was almost by herself. Her 15yearold son gave a brief and nearly tearful explanation as to why a judge should spare his mother jail time. Christopher kane told the judge his mother is his rock and it would be bad for the family if she went to jail. More than 30 letters were written on kanes behalf and more than two dozen supporters sat in court during the five plus hour sentencing. She put her own desire for personal revenge above everything else, above the citizens of this state, above the hard working prosecutors, and the staff of the attorney generals office. Everybody deserved better. Reporter kane was convicted of leaking secret grand jury materials and lying about it in an effort to embarrass former staffers. Kane herself apologized to the judge and the citizens of the state, saying she has always learned from her mistakes and did not want her children to suffer for those mistakes. But the judge told kane that when she committed those crimes, she was not thinking about her children, instead she was thinking about revenge and the overly inflated ego she had from her brief time in politics. Now, kane is at the Montgomery County prison right now. But because her case is pending in appeal, the judge raised her bail, which means she could post it sometime tonight and be released. Reporter two polls show trump ahead nationally. But trump trails by 12 in the new abc news poll, trails by 6 in an average of national polls. You see these phony polls, the media wields absolute power over your life. Reporter senate and House Republicans dont buy that, concerned they could go down with trump. What they worry about is we get stuck for four or five days on some extraneous issue thats generated from some statements that donald trump makes. Reporter Hillary Clinton was in New Hampshire with senator elizabeth warren, taking advantage of trumps insult at the last debate. We nasty women are going to march our nasty feet to cast our nasty votes to get you out of our lives forever. Republican incumbent pat toomey and democratic challenger Katie Mcginty will face off at Temple University in pennsylvanias hotly contested senate race. Toomey leads mcginty by four percentage points. Tonights second debate will be their last. You know what that means, time to check in with our political punchout team. Democrat Mark Alderman and republican jim schultz joining us once again. Only 15 days to go until election day. How should the candidates feel about their chances, mark . Its all over but the counting. Hillary clinton, jim, is the next president of the United States. The only question is by what margin. The American People have rejected donald trump. And its not a rejection of his policies so much as a rejection of him. He was selling hate and fear. And the American People did not buy it. I think that Donald Trumps message of going to washington and really taking on the status quo in washington was a good one. He gave a nice speech at gettysburg this past weekend. But the problem is time and time again, when donald trump then moved on to suing folks who have said things about him, thats just the problem that he has over and over again. We just heard a couple of minutes ago, thats really concerning some of the other republican candidates around the country. President ial race obviously gets most of the headlines, but as you know, a very Important Senate race happening in this area too. The race between incumbent republican pat toomey and democratic challenger Katie Mcginty, the most expensive in the country, by the way. 113 million in spending by the candidates, and also by outside groups. Jim, do the democrats have a chance to take this seat from republicans . I dont think so. We just saw in the polls that hes running four ahead. Donald trump is losing by quite wider margins here in pennsylvania. Pat toomey has taken on barack obama where hes felt he needed to. Hes worked with barack obama when hes needed to. They passed Bipartisan Legislation to protect children from child predators. Hes also worked with democrats in the senate to take on the guns and take on background checks and keep guns out of the hands of terrorists and criminals and the mentally ill. Hes done a very good job of working for the people of pennsylvania and the people of this country. But hes also stood up to donald trump. And thats something that you dont see from Katie Mcginty. Shes hyperpartisan. Shes never going to take on Hillary Clinton. Shes never going to stand up for what she believes is right. Shell just be a yes person for the clinton administration. Pat toomey is formidable. And this is a very close race. But donald trump is going to make Katie Mcginty a United States senator. Pat toomey can outrun trump by two, three, four points. I think thats what you may be seeing. But Hillary Clinton is going to win pennsylvania. Shes going to win pennsylvania big. Its going to be five, six, seven points. That is too much of a margin for toomey to overcome. So practice saying it, jim, senator mcginty. I dont think so, mark. Katie mcginty has no particular record whatsoever. And the record she has is bad. When she was chief of staff to the governor, she got kicked out of the room so they could get budget negotiations done. When she left the dep, she was working for herself and not the people pennsylvania, taking a 100,000 a year job. The first woman senator in the history of the commonwealth. Well see.
