Were tern concern pd with this line of storms to the south of wilmington towards salem in south jersey extending back into maryland. Take a closer look whats going on. At one point some of the storms were severe for hail. Hailproducing storms. You can see, very intense colors here nap would indicate we have very heavy rainfall right underneath the storms. So going from smyrna towards salem and over into perhaps this area, looking at a downpour. We continue on off to the east. Lets look at maybe some of the timing for some of these. So in deerfield, 5 22. If youre in violent looking at 6 17. Theyll keep going east and with this kind of mois, warm atmosphere, nothing is breaking them yet. We are getting a breeze off the atlantic, but thats not enough. These are associated with a frontal boundary actually swooshing through the area providing lift. This purple indicates where we have seen some of the hail and so dont be surprised to hear that pitterpatter of pea sized hail and intense lightning. Glenn, youll cover that. Yes, tammy. Weve had, pretty localized where the severe storm is. Obviously, this is in maryland, pennsylvanias up here. Delawares over here. The lightning concentrated just to one area, and this is chesapeake bay. All right . Chesapeake bay is very chilly. Temperature, are in the 50s. The sayre in the 90s. That helped trigger these storms. We had 67 lightning strikes in a 15minute period. And around 4 00. An hour later as the storm crossed over chesapeake bay, the number of lightning strikes got cut in half. So were seeing less and less lightning with this particular storm. Now, were watching right up where that late ning was. This is the hail and a little bit of purple there thats indicating a little bit more than one Inch Diameter hail. That is pretty significant. Again, were watching chesapeake bay, and watching this area shrink a little bit. The hail gets smaller and so the trend is in our favor. Those storms are coming through delaware, but in the last hour, there has been a weakening and partly because of the chilly chesapeake bay. Then were going to have the chilly delaware bay to help weak brn they get to new jersey. Talked about this yesterday. Forming on the front just out to the metro area, thats the line you see looking off to the west. You dont see them propgating westward. Those are the ones bearing watching as the evening wears on and they perhaps sag into delaware and south jersey. Temperatures. Hourbyhour. By tomorrow morning, may just have a scattered showers moving through the area. These storms are long gone. South of the area. By tomorrow afternoon, temperatures only in the 60s. Then we get into sunday. Again, temperatures reaching upper 60s. Could see an isolated shower in the south poconos and into monday. Could end up being a bit of a washout. When well see another system pushing through the area. That continues right on into monday night with periods of heavy rain. Maybe even a few thunderstorms embedded in that.
