Elected leaders like senator bob casey came down and served pizza and members of the roots kept people from getting dehydrated. This has been going around like wherever folks need water or pretzels or coffee, playing my part. I dont think weve seen turnout like this in my memory. So i have been waiting in line all day. This was an incredibly tight race in which pat toomey narrowly secured his seat against democratic challenger Katie Mcginty. This was a race a lot of people were watching. It was also the most expensive political race in senate history. Toomey, a former threeterm congressman was seeking a second term after compiling one of the most conservative voting records in congress. Once the final tallies were in, he congratulated Katie Mcginty on a hardfought campaign. He then went on to tell a crowd of supporters that he will take the fight back to washington. Im incredibly honored that the people of pennsylvania are giving me another term in the United States senate. And my approach to government, its really pretty simple. I dont think the government should be wasting as much money as it wastes. I dont think it should be spending as much of your money as it spends. I dont think taxes should be as high as they are. While mcginty never served in Public Office she did serve Governor Tom Wolf as a former chief of staff. She was recruited by top washington democrats to challenge toomey.
