Transcripts For WCAU NBC10 News Today Weekend At 6am 20161009

See some sunshine just ahead in the first alert forecast. Nbc 10 news starts now. Good morning, welcome back to nbc 10 news today, im rosemary connors. Its just after 6 00 on this sunday. Matthew no longer a hurricane. But still a powerful storm. Lets get the very latest from meteorologist krystal klei. Krystal . Yeah, the storm is affecting us this morning. We expected that we would see rain through your saturday. Thats what we saw into the afternoon overnight, and that potential into the Morning Hours. So thats what were seeing. Its going to hang around through the Morning Hours a bit more because matthews path is changing just a tad. Meaning were grabbing a little more moisture as we move through your Morning Hours. 59 degrees, rain in philadelphia. 58 in the suburbs. Were also 58 degrees in the Lehigh Valley. And delaware where we see some of the heavier rain coming down this morning with some breezy conditions, as well. Currently. So theres a look at Doppler Radar. What were seeing is that the yellow oranges, thats where the heavier rain is hitting and hitting right along the shore, through the delaware bay, and then much of delaware seeing some of the more moderate to heavy showers. Not good news for delaware, as you might remember, some areas seeing about a foot of rain over severalday period about a week and a half ago. So the ground is saturated meaning more rain falls on it, it cannot absorb it on the ground so the flooding starts very quickly. Thats what the concern is throughout the morning in those areas. Just a heads up if youre driving in that direction. Theres the look at what is now matthew. No longer a hurricane, still a strong storm. Raines pulling out of virginia and North Carolina where the flooding has already occurred. Some of the heavier storm activity is still moving our direction this morning. Well track that rain throughout your day when you start to see conditions clear for a little nicer afternoon, all of that coming up. Now to decision 2016. Tonight voters will be tuning in to the second president ial debate. Hillary clinton will be there. So will donald trump. Even though some in his own party may wish otherwise. The comments on tape have left the gop split as to whether to support him. Monique braxton is live in the Digital Operations Center. Shes been following this. Dozens of gop leaders are calling for trump to end his race for president but is that realistic . Rosemary, i do know the election is less than a month away. And as you mentioned, some gop members are urging him to step aside. Others are saying they plan to write someone elses name on the ballot. And all of this follows the lewd comments of 2005. On twitter Vice President joe biden said trumps words are demeaning and that such behavior is an abuse of power. Its not lewd side biden, its sexual assault. Donald trump waved to a crowd of supporters in new york. Earlier he tweeted i will never drop out of the race. We will never let our supporters down. This despite dozens of republicans from across the country urging him to withdraw. Calling him a malignant clown, and tweeting they will not vote for him. For the first time this morning, were hearing trumps wife melania, what she has to say. She was pregnant in 2005, when trump bragged about how being a star gave him an edge in making advancements on married women. Referencing access hollywood host nancy odell. Melania says and were quoting here, the words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. I hope people will focus on and accept his apology, as i have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world. Former new york mayor rudy giuliani, a top Trump Campaign adviser, fiercely defends the donald. There is nothing that is going to cause him to drop out. Thats Wishful Thinking of the clinton campaign. Giuliani added Republican Leaders who are now distancing themselves from trump never really supported him in the first place. And one of those people who maintains his support is former president ial candidate and u. S. Senator bob dole. Now we have not heard from the clinton campaign. But we hear at tonights debate, before dozens of undecided voters, she gets the first question. It will be something to see. No doubt. Live now in the Digital Operations Center. Monique braxton, nbc 10 news. Thanks for that monique. Entertainment tonight host nancy odell mentioned on tape by donald trump as the married woman he tried to seduce has issued a statement that says in part, politics aside im saddened that these comments still exist in our society at all. The conversation needs to change because no female, no person, should be the subject of such crass comments. Whether or not cameras are rolling. On the democratic side of the race, Bernie Sanders is defending Hillary Clinton. The vermont senator was in philadelphia yesterday, just hours after leaked emails shed new light on clintons ties to wall street. The emails were hacked from Clintons Campaign chairman john podesta. They appear to show parts of clintons closeddoor speeches she made to big Financial Firms in 2013. In those speeches she promotes policies that would benefit wall street, a pet peeve of sanders. Nbc 10 asked the senator about it during his Campaign Stop in center city. More important and what is more interesting is this document which is the Democratic National platform. And this document makes it very clear that we are going to break up the large Financial Institutions in this country. Sanders acknowledged problems, both Hillary Clinton and donald trump are having with voters but he add the choice is clear that clinton is the right person to help working families. The wife of Hillary Clintons running mate tim kaine was also in philadelphia yesterday, ann holten spoke at the new covenant church. She urged everyone there to make sure they are registered to vote. Everything you do this weekend, everything you do this week, as we get everybody registered, and then everything you do, everything you do to help people turn out to vote is going to help deliver pennsylvania for hillary. Holton also focused her comments on education and its importance in a Hillary Clinton administration. Heres a look at the registration deadlines for each state in our region. In pennsylvania, its this tuesday october 11th. The deadline in delaware is october 15th. And in new jersey, its october 18th. In local viewing parties are scheduled for tonights president ial debate. One party in philadelphia will be held at mcgillins old ale house in center city. All the debate will be at some selected theaters. You can also catch the second president ial debate tonight at 9 00 on cozi tv and nbc10. Com. Conditions right now, temperatures drop this morning because weve got a cold front moving through. The cold front is also interestingly enough starting to affect matthew which we expected, and well talk more about that with the projected track in just a bit. 58, thats the temperature right now. In the Lehigh Valley. Also 58 in philadelphia and 59 in south jersey. Low 60s along the jersey shore. You could see the bottom of your screen, your neighborhood forecast, sevenday forecast going through. There is a forecast of some sun later today. But it does not start out your morning that way. Cloudy conditions with 50s across the board. Throughout the philadelphia neighborhood, Chestnut Hill sitting at 56 as well as andorra. 57 burytown, bustleton close to 60. And forecast highs today are only in the low to mid 60s so were not going to see much if any warming through today because of that cold front bringing us cooler but clear air. Doppler radar moderate to heavier showers moving through kent and Suffolk County. Even New Castle County has seen steady rain moving through. That extends along the shore as well. Neerg Atlantic City, and then through cape may, thats where were a little concerned that we could see some street flooding this morning. Due to the heavier rain rights were seeing. And the consistency of this rain that weve been seeing through your Morning Hours. Now its more light to moderate rain through parts of new jersey through philadelphia and a very light rain as we move into the suburbs and the Lehigh Valley. These areas are going to clear first and in the afternoon is where the clouds will start to clear first, meaning more sunshine. The sun will slowly start to spread so by about sunset we should try to see peeks of sunshine right along the jersey shore. Closer to 25 Miles Per Hour along the shore, and also at 20 Miles Per Hour wilmington. Look at the peak gusts. Inland, 25 to 35mileperhour gusts at the shore. And weve got these models splitting in half. Some wanting to curve matthew to the south. Some wanting to blow it out to see. Its looking more and more likely thats going to happen because of the cold front weve been dealing with. Its going to move along and almost pull matthew in with it so the two can move off to sea together. That means the track has changed for matthew is good news for areas like the bahamas, as well as florida. Where there was that projection of it possibly curving back. Still something well have to watch over the next couple of days. A look at the forecast. Next seven days from mid 60s, 25,
