An Army Helicopter crashes with 11 Service Members on board during a night Time Training exercise in the Florida Panhandle. Jim miklaszewski is at the pentagon. What can you tell us . Details are sketchy this morning, but the news is pretty grim. Military officials tell nbc news it is feared that all 11 Service Members that were aboard that helicopter during a Training Exercise were killed when the helicopter went into the gulf of mexico just off the panhandle florida coast. The accident occurred at about 8 30 last night when there were two helicopters in a formation conducting a Training Exercise with seven special operations marines and four Army National guardsmen aboard that helicopter flying in very foul weather, heavy fog and low ceilings when one dropped into the water. The other helicopter made it back to land safely. U. S. Coast guard vessel discovered the debris at about 2 00 or 2 30 this morning including the tail rotor that included the exact number of the helicopter that went in. The cause of the crash at this point is still under investigation. It appears now that inclement weather played a weather factor in the accident. The seven marines aboard the helicopter were from camp lejeune and the army was from a base in hammond, indian a. The investigation as they say, continues.
