Others were sickened after hitting bad weather and severe turbulence. Nbcs tom costello covers aviation for us. Good morning him tell us ability this flight. Reporter good morning, savannah passengers on board this flight describe it as some of the worst turbulence theyve ever experienced. Its so bad the turbulence went and on and it couldnt land. It feels like king king picked up the plane and shook it like no tomorrow. Repor terrifying moments in the sky wednesday, after delta flight flew to newark was diverted after encountering a dangerous weather system. The plane first approached newark but was unable to land because of the storm. Then it went on to nearby Kennedy Airport, where bad weather prevented the landing. The flight allowed them to make an mortgages landing in boston 200 miles away from its original destination. Passengers describing it as the most turbulent flight they have taken. The winds were fe until nal t. Plane was bucketed from left to right and up and down and around and around out to sea, back to sea. I have been flying for 25 years, its never been that rough. Reporter everybody says the same thing. The plane finally got to newark with everyone praising the pilot for getting everyone down safely. Thats right. In fact we had reports of at least eight tornadoes yesterday. The National Weather service has to go out and investigate. Outside the homes it turned into rivers. I mean they are completely inundated. We will see more heavy downpours today and more likely tomorrow. Lets go to the map and give you whats going on. Now we start to see that upper level low we have been talking about the last couple of days. It makes its way out dallas texas tomorrow. You will be under the gun with a tornado threat that continues to really increase and, in fact you can see, we got wichita into new orleans, but the enhanced risk is in Central Texas into louisiana, kansas into missouri we are looking at strong storms 41 Million People tomorrow are under the risk for tornadoes and strong storms. A few report that shows that agency delayed fixing a broken alarm system at former president george h. Wvenlt bushs home. That delay lasting more than a year. Bushs home was too old and recommended it be replaced. But secret Service Officials at the time denied that request. It eventually stopped working altogether in december 2013. The alarm wasnt replaced for 13 months. During that time the secret service added another agent to control the property. Still, of course its raising new concerns about security at former president s homes. Policeman and press secretary james brady, in court, his brother and sister testified he is cured, ready to be freed to live with their 89yearold mother in williamsburg virginia after years of unsupervised visits. Hinckleys brother says he takes the conditions for his current condition seriously, sighting him to move a movie they were seeing seeing jody foster on screen. In arizona, a Police Officer plowed into an armed suspect with his cruiser. We are hearing the take down since it made national headlines. National correspondent Miguel Almaguer has the story. Reporter the suspect pled not guilty to 11 felonies including the fact of a high powered rifle from a tucson area walmart. We know he has a long gun. Reporter the suspect was walking down the street. I wanted to stop the threat. That was the only thing in my mind we need to stop this threat immediately. Cleared of criminal charges, the officer was back on the job. After months of delays the u. S. Senate is expected to vote today on Lorretta Lynch to become the new attorney general. A final vote could take place this afternoon at 166 days no other nominee for attorney general had to wait the long for senate confirmation. If confirmed, lynch will be the first africanamerican woman to hold the position. There was a second scare in the air involving a sky west flight from chicago to connecticut. A former iowa law maker has been acquitted of sexually abusing his wife who suffered from dementia. They found him not guilty of abusing his wife. He was accused of having sex with her after being told shelves no longer mentally capable of consenting do you to her alzheimers disease. The case sparked a discussion nationwide whether people with dementia have a capacity to consent to sex. A federal Appeals Court reversed a conviction against barry bonds.
