Were about to start day four. I was just watching the video we were run og running of the rainy day yesterday. It was as miserable ive been on a bike ride. Today is the opposite. Its beautiful and i continue to be inspired by people on the road who stop to wave who have your red noses on and theyre talking about the charities were raising money for. Something else that inspired me this morning when i woke up and saw this picture that was tweeted to us overnight from loni ali. This is the Champ Muhammad Ali with his red nose on. I thank him for the inspiration. Again, all of this is for great causes not only here in this country but around the world. The champ cheering you on the wind will be at your back for sure. Well see you in a little bit. But twoeptwe want to go to our top story. Wild weather to talk about. Its been crazy. All kinds of weather to talk about. Lets start right now in texas. About an hour and a half west of ft. Worth, this is giddings texas. They had not one but maybe two tornadoes touch down. Unconfirmed at this point, but we are tracking those. Also in mineral wells, texas, they had a tornado touch down. Fortunately nobody injured. But there was a lot of damage throughout the town roofs ripped off, big problems there. Now, lets talk about snow. Can you believe this . Were going to talk about snow in colorado. Now theyve got about 6 inches in parts of aspen and points to the west. That has led to massive flooding today in colorado springs. This was yesterday. They got up to 3 inches of snow and rain and flooding. Big problems there. And then more flooding in norman oklahoma. Look at this. Rain in upwards of 3 to 5 inches of rain in several hours. Some try to drive through. Some make it some dont. Well have more of that today. Turn around dont drown. Heres the deal. Were all along this front. Its stuck there. Were going to watch the storms train over. So moving through dallas houston, on into the plains states. Also looking at more wet weather as another system comes in. Weve got more Severe Weather from ft. Stockton to austin. Golf ball sized hail. As we get into the weekend, this is hard to fathom. Some places already picking up 12 inches of rain so far. There could be another 6 to 8 inches of rain guys for our friends in oklahoma and texas. Flooding of course the drought is over. Meanwhile, an emergency cleanup is underway in california this morning after 21,000 gallons of oil leaked from a busted pipeline. Black tar dotting the pristine shores of Santa Barbaras beaches. Nbcs Hallie Jackson has the latest. Reporter this morning dozens of cleanup crews are working to contain a 21,000 gallon oil spill. Thick sludge spreading along a fourmile stretch of the coast near santa barbara. Drenching wildlife and forcing campers out of a nearby park. We were driving out here and smelled Something Like burning rubber. Its really disappointing to see this happen here. Reporter Officials Say someone reported that foul smell around noon tuesday. Its how they discovered the crude oil flowing from a broken pipeline and onto the beach. Plains all american who owns the pipeline says it shut down the pipeline. After the 1969 oil spill, people really began to take notice of these things. Reporter more than 40 years ago in this same area, 3 million gallons leaked into the pacific in one of the worst oil spills in u. S. History. Today theres a concern this slick could spread south. Such a shame nap is really one of the most beautiful parts of the entire country. And its not easy to clean up all of that. Now to what has become the biggest consumer recall in u. S. History. Even bigger than the tylenol recall of the 80s. The company takata is recalling air bags in 34 million vehicles after admitting at long last it does have a problem with those air bags. Nbcs tom costello has been following this story since it broke. Good morning to you. Reporter good morning. The trouble is model years 2000 through 2011 and the air bag which can explode sending shards of metal towards the driver. Up until now takata has been fined daily by the government for failing to cooperate with federal investigators. Now its launching the biggest recall ever. This morning the worlds biggest air bag maker Takata Corporation is on the defensive. With car dealers gearing up for the biggest recall in u. S. History. Bigger even than the recall of 31 million tylenol bottles in 1982. Affecting roughly one out of every four cars on the road. Involving 11 different automakers. Automakers and manufacturers have a safety responsibility they should live up to. There are no excuses. Government investigators say exploding air bags are thought to have killed at least 12 people. The family attorney showed us the car. What happened here you can see the shrapnel on the floor here. What went forward towards her are metal fragments. Reporter it came right into her face and neck. At least a hundred people have been injured. Until now the Takata Corporation insisted its air bags were not defective. Did takata put profits ahead of safety sir . Reporter refusing to answer questions from nbc news or the japanese media. Now it admits there is a problem saying we are committed to continuing to work closely with automaker customers to advance the safety of drivers. But many drivers may have long ago sold their cars. Many cars are probably in the hands of second and third owners. Reporter making matters worse, there still arent enough Replacement Parts. Yeah. And here it gets even worse, unfortunately. The trouble is of course, that what youre looking at is a situation where they may have put defective Replacement Parts in the cars that were already repaired. So if you had your car repaired you may have to get it repaired yet again. Which raises the question how do you know if your car is affected tom . Reporter heres what you do. Get your vin number. Its right up here in the front. Its also right here in the doorjamb doorjamb. You go to safer car. Gov. Type in your vin. All of the recalls involving that car will pop up. Youre talking 34 million vehicles. A lot of people are wondering whether takata can survive this. This is a japaneseowned company and analysts are divided. A norwegian cruise liner ran aground in a reef. All the guests and crew are safe saying there were no injuries and that the ship is now being inspected for any potential damage. All right. Police say crime scene technicians should wrap up their investigation later on today. This is the parking lot where it all went down. And while those two rival gangs that met here had a long history, they say sundays bloodshed may have been billed over a parking spot. As investigators tote away more evidence the identities of the nine killed here all said to be gang members, many shot in the head were released. This morning 170 suspects are still in jail. Bond set at 1 million each. Dozens believed to be members of the notorious bandidos gang. Pat matto was a hells angel. Spending nearly a decade in prison for his crime. Not over drug turf. Its over territory. Its being the biggest, baddest guy on the block. Reporter with their roots in texas going back to the 1960s police say the bandidos are notorious for drug violence and trafficking. But they say its just a club. We do not break the law as a whole. We do not encourage it. You do not have to be a criminal to be a bandido. Reporter with them identified as one of five gangs involved in the biker brawl, for the rival outlaws who clashed here this is just the beginning. Make no mistake about it. This is not over.
