The damage here is just unbelievable. So many businesses along the path of this tornado, had their windows broken out. Businesses like the one behind me, just destroyed. And witnesses saying this terrifying tornado came with very little warning. This morning, midtown tulsa is in shambles. A rare august tornado, tearing through the heart of this normally bustling shopping area. Many buildings and businesses, destroyed. The roof of this home shattered after a tree tore a hole through the living room. Toppled power lines, leaving thousands in the dark. Perhaps the saving grace, the twister touched down just after 1 00 in the morning, when most people were home. You can see two tables were pushed together right here. Reporter the roof of this t. G. I. Fridays, collapsed with patrons and employees inside. Sounded like an explosion going off. A family of six, sitting below. Trapped beneath the rubble. I ran to the screaming, yelling. Reporter this Police Officer said its a miracle no one died. What was your reaction when you saw daylight and you saw this . I knew people were trapped in a restaurant. You have a concept of stuff falling on them. And you see that and youre like, holy cow. Reporter the tornado formed so quickly and unexpectedly, it touched down before warni ining sirens had a chance to go off. Its there. We didnt have rampup time. Reporter tulsa facing the damage that has been done. Its a miracle that we can stand here right now and talk about this happened. Its over with. And now, were moving toward recovery. Reporter 24 hours after this twister touched down, officials are surveying the damage here. Asking folks to remain out of this area as much as possible. Thank you. New developments in the investigation of a weekend bombing at a mosque near minneapolis. The powerful explosion shattered windows and damaged an office. Blake, thanks so much. Now, to a terrifying flight for hundreds of airlines passengers. People were injured when an American Airlines jet tran into extreme turbulence on the way to philadelphia. The captain apologizing for unexpected severe turbulence that shook passengers and crew. Flight 759, from athens to philadelphia, rocked by severe, unexpected turbulence over the atlantic, just 30 minutes before landing. The winds shaking the plane so violently, ten people were injured in the chaos. There was more than a second or two that i did think that the plane might go down. And the thought in my mind, when a plane goes down this, is what it feels like. Reporter the seat belt sign was on. But attendants were serving drinks. Moments later, people are seen cleaning up the cabin that is littered with debris. Two boy scouts were killed, another hospitalized, after their sailboat hit a power line. They were riding in a catamaran when it collided with a transmission line. A manhunt under way for an escaped inmate in ohio. Brandon powell overpowered a sheriffs deputy on friday, after the two were leaving a psychiatric hospital. They were heading back to the jail, when investigators say powell grabbed the deputys gun, calved him to the wheel of his squad car and ran. Authorities say powell is armed and dangerous.
