More than 41 Million People traveling at least 50 miles. Many of them heading to the beach, but in North Carolina seven shark attacks have a lot of people dealing with mixed feelings about getting in the water. And on a weekend filled with large gatherings ongoing threats from isis and possible lone wolves have authorities stepping up security across the country. With america ready for the fourth of july today, officials are focused old keeping the celebrations safe. This year heightened concern, but no specific or credible threat. Still, police respect taking any chances, cordoning off key sites, keeping an eye on the skies and on the ground. Well, police are prepared but we cant just focus on major cities. Terrorists may attack where they live. Reporter fueling fears, this fourth of july falls during the muslim holy month of ramadan. One isis leader calling for a month of calamity for the infidels. Their grasp of social media is femme nominal, so quickly grasp how to use that. Reporter among the concerns that recent isisinspired attacks, like this one in tunisia, could spawn copycats here in the u. S. And that fireworks sold at this time of year could be crafted into explosives. [ sirens ] the nations nerves on display thursday after a woman reported hearing gunshots at the Washington Navy yard. The incident later declared a false alarm. And most tourists we found dont seem fazed. We are not going to let it get in the way of us having a good time. Any time i see officers around its good for me. Im not going to let a bunch of terroristic types bother what we do in our country. Reporter this Independence Day, a reminder to go forth and celebrate. I think americans should enjoy their hot dog and their hamburgers and their fireworks and not let this fear of terrorism dominate the headlines, because if they do that then these bad guys actually have won. Reporter you know, as for that navy yard scare, washington, d. C. s police chief says the caller did exactly what she should have done. It bears repeating, if you see something, in that case if you hear something, say something. The bottom line they say is get out, enjoy yourself but be alert. Tamron . All right, peter, thank you very much. Of course everybody know what is the weather is going to be like for the Holiday Weekend. Dillon could be a stormy one for millions. It could and i have been saying it could be nice in the northeast, that could change a little bit, just a couple of showers, but it was in tennessee yesterday we saw some of our heaviest storms. We ended up with a lot of tree damage because of damaging wind gusts and also a possible tornado. This is right near nashville. This tree falling right on a car, falling across the roads, downing power lines. Some were without power because of these storms yesterday. This is a stalled from the that is sitting right through the Tennessee River valley and theres a possibility we could see more strong storms again today, although with each day, we are losing the threat of Severe Weather and it looks more like we will just see some rain. A couple of areas of low pressure and within these heavier downpours, we could end up with some flash flooding there is a flash flood warping here in red where some of these storms are just training over the same area. And we could end up with a couple inches of rain. We do have a slight risk from oklahoma right back into the carolinas, where we could see, again, large hail damaging wind gusts and isolated tornado is possible be brief and its not going to be a tornado outbreak by any means but there are about 25 Million People in that atrisk area. As we go through the day today, we are still going to see these showers and storms develop through tennessee. Watch as this area of low pressure creeps a little bit further into the midatlantic. It is not looking like a washout, but just keep in mind saturday afternoon, we could see a couple of spotty showers from d. C. Up through new york city. But the main rainy areas will be back through arkansas into mississippi through alabama and up into atlanta, too. So for your fourth of july forecast its this area in green where we could see some of our spotty showers. Out in the southwest, too, it is still going to be hot with a few isolated thunderstorms and the heat is just exceptional in the pacific northwest. All right, dylan, thank you very much. See what happens around the country there. But it is not the storms but sharks that are causing concerns along the North Carolina coast. A string of seven attacks in just a few weeks has both beachgoers and officials on alert. Nbcs Gabe Gutierrez is on the outer banks. Gabe good morning. Reporter tamron good morning. Local Officials Say they are vigilant here but right now there are no plans to close any of these beaches. They hope the tourists do not stay away during this crucial Holiday Weekend. All this after those seven shark attacks in just thee weeks, a record here in North Carolina. This morning, the latest victim is recovering a man in his late 60s. He is in Good Condition but doctors say he will need multiple surgeries to recover. Now, expert says there is a wide variety of reasons why this may be happening, including warmer water this year may have brought the sharks and what they eat further north this year. Now, state officials are scrambling to try to find a pattern to all this and they are urging anyone who fishes this weekend to do so away from swimmers and surfers to help keep these sharks at a distance. Tamron . All right, Gabe Gutierrez, thank you very much gabe. All right. Meantime the president ial Campaign Frenzy is descending on New Hampshire over this long Holiday Weekend. Hillary clinton and Chris Christie will be there today. Jeb bush and marco rubio arrive tomorrow. Nbcs Kristen Welker is in hanover keeping an eye on all of them. Kristen, good morning. Its becoming an american tradition, president ial candidates coming to New Hampshire on the fourth of july Holiday Weekend to court some of this states famously independent voters. Hillary clinton kicks things off with an organizing event here at Dartmouth College. Polls show she has a pretty strong lead here but she is also getting a robust challenge from the left vermont senator, bernie sanders, closing the gap in polls and also drawing some pretty big crowds. She is also getting some more competition. Just yesterday, former virginia senator jim webb joined the race. Meanwhile, republicans will also be flocking to the Granite State this Holiday Weekend. So far, 14 declared candidates of those who will be here this weekend, Chris Christie rick perry, jeb bush marco rubio, polls show bush has the lead right now but its a small one and donald trump is coming in a close second here in New Hampshire. Trump has no plans to be here this weekend, but for the candidates who will be here this weekend, the stakes are high with tens of thousands expected to turn out and join the parade route tomorrow. Carson . All right, crisp welker on the story for must New Hampshire. Thank you. As kristen mentioned donald trump is getting a lot of attention, and while he is having success in the polls, as she pointed out it is his financial bottom line that is taking a hit since he launched his campaign. They are bringing drugs, they are bringing crime, they are rapists and some i assume are good people. Reporter costing the billionaire and president ial candidate big money. The rap. Com estimating as much as 50 million, a figure not confirmed by nbc news. But trump seems unfazed firing back at macys on twitter. Macys stock just dropped. Interesting. So many people calling to say they are cutting up their macys credit card. You dont think he will be able to bounce back with Something Else after all this is done . I think he will certainly try but if im another retailer if im another network, im going to say is this really worth the hassle of getting involved with donald trump and more likely than not, my answer is probably going to be no. Reporter regardless trump is surging in three recent polls among republicans. Number two in iowa New Hampshire and nationally. His republican opponents thursday firing back. The comments were inappropriate. They have no place in the race. I dont think Donald Trumps remarks reflect the republican party. Reporter an open letter was pepped thanked trump for mobilizing the latino vote with his words and exactly why trump suspect just a sideshow for the republicans. He is alienating that latino vote they are striving to court. The party and other candidates guys are really feeling the pressure to distance themselves from him and from those words.
