A fire at Newark International airport. Passengers were ordered outside. Janelle burrell joins us live from the airport with more. Janelle . Reporter mary and chris, the fire is out, but according to Port Authority police, there are smoky conditions outside. You can see above us, by the departure terminal, you can see the fire trucks. They are there on stand by in case any additional flareups happen this morning. The fire started around 1 15 a. M. In the ceiling of terminal b. One flight was scheduled to depart. 200 passengers were evacuated from the terminal while firefighters put out the flames. They thought the fire was out, allowed passengers back inside. The terminal was then re evacuated. Cbs producer nick fineman was getting ready to board the airline to hong kong this out. He was among those evacuated. We were all evacuated to just outside the terminal. We were told it would be 15 minutes and we could come back in, then we smelled smoke and you could see it. Then on 10 fire trucks showed up. Theyre now evacuating everyone away from the building. Reporter at this point, its not clear whether the flight has taken off. Fire trucks still here on stand by in case another flareup occurs. Its not clear how badly this could affect any flights later this morning. Reporting live, Janelle Burrell, cbs 2 news. Janelle, thank you. Going to be a busy day for many people left to deal with the damage from yesterdays storm. Thousands of people in the tri state area affected by the 60 mileanhour wind gusts that ripped trees out of the ground and toppled power lines. The trees coming down on homes and streets throughout the on 210th street in queens. The april storm leaving homeowners shocked by what they saw and heard. I woke up to a big crash and my house shook a little bit. It was crazy. Windows were shattered. Gutters ripped off. Roof, waters in the attic. In queens, an entire home was blown off its pilings. 4 32 now. Time for traffic and weather on the 2s. Heres john elliot with a look alt that. Good morning, everybody. Wind, definitely subsiding. Today we see a problem with precipitation in parts of the area. Cold enough for snow. So its going to be slick through parts of the Hudson Valley. In the city, clouds overhead and 36 degrees. Wind out of the east to 16. Definitely better than the 40 to 60mileanhour gusts we had yesterday. Snow hitting the ground in orange county, putnam, as well. To the city, but the timing of this is such that when this pushes through, warm enough for rain. In fact, its going to be warmer today, hour by hour. Numbers will be up. Lunchtime, youre at 48. Thank you, kyla. Happening now, a warehouse fire burning in brooklyn. Magdalena doris is live with more this morning. Mag declina . Reporter good morning. Fire was called in over 5 hours ago. Firefighters are having trouble containing the fire because of possibly whats inside. If you take a look, firefighters are taking an aerial approach to putting this fire out. When they were called in initially at around 10 45 yesterday evening, crews entered the warehouse from the ground floor but had to be pulled out because of severe structural damage to the warehouse. Theyre utilizing ladders now to get to the fire from above. We heard from the fire chief. Some sort of cold storage, a lot of refrigerators and restaurant supplies. We assume there are cooking oils in there. Its really burning. Reporter and back here live, the fire is continuing to pop up in pockets, giving firefighters trouble here, but the fire chief does say the fire has been contained. It did not spread to another building or another business, i should say, thats connected in this building or a church that is next door. Apparently no one called in, saying that they were inside the building at that time. Theyre trying to figure out if anyone was inside this warehouse at the time, but they do say one firefighter was treated for minor injuries and smoke inhalation. Amtrak service is back on the northeast corridor this morning after a deadly Train Derailment in pennsylvania. Public philadelphia when a train collided. Hazel sanchez has more. Reporter the train going from new york to savannah, georgia was 15 minutes outside of philadelphia when it crashed into an amtrak Maintenance Crew on the track. I woke up to being thrown into the seat in front matter of fact and the window got blown out beside me. You could see the dirt and debris flying past the train and a couple of sort of like fire flashes. Reporter it was just before 8 00 sunday morning when the train slammed into a backhoe, derailing. The bucket left in the middle of the tracks. Other piecest thrown several feet away. This picture shows the inside of one car was a mangled mess. We got off track, then it was an explosion, some people were cut up. Reporter emergency crews we now have our second doa located at the impact site of the backhoe. Reporter two amtrak workers, one operating the backhoe, the other supervising nearby, were killed. 341 people were on the train. 35 were injured and hospitalized, but are expected to be okay. Amtrak declined to comment why the Maintenance Equipment was on the active track. The National Transportation safety board says its looking at several factors, including scheduling, to determine if the accident was caused by human error. Her brother, randy, was the first to spot the flames and alerted everyone. Theres a fire, fire, get the animals out. He started pulling animals out of the building. Reporter volunteers were already at the shelter to walk the dogs and care for the california you can see the damage done to the building. The flames so intense, they spread to one shelter workers car parked behind the building on north Willow Street in downtown montclair. It could have been deadly. In the middle of the night, it would have been gone. All the animals would have died. Reporter 70 cats and dogs were saved. The volunteers all just lined up and like a traveling line starting pulling animal after animal. Every single anle got out. All 70 pets have been placed in foster homes and other shelters. You can see the brave dog running ferociously with an officer on a motorcycle not far behind. At one point it ran into traffic. Thankfully, the officer caught up and took the dog into custody. He was given a verbal warning. Taken to the San Francisco county Animal Care Center until it was headed to a taco bell on the other side. Bridge.
