The man fell down a silo chute and became trapped. Dozens of firefighters tried to save the man during a complicated rescue attempt. Investigators estimate this corn silo was about 80 feet high and red acker was doing work on it. He climbed a ladder halfway up when he suddenly fell backwards down a tight silo chute. Apparently while the man was servicing the silo, he slipped and fell and became wedged, essentially, face up, feet up, and could not free himself.
