Swimming against the rip will only tire you out and youll likely to continue to drift out to sea. If you headed to the beach this weaning, check with a lifeguard first. They can warn of you any potential hazards. Make sure you have a buddy to swim with or at least tell someone that youre entering the water. Things in the water can happen quickly and without notice. Hermine behind me and its strengthening this afternoon to the Tropical Storm status, up 5 Miles Per Hour since 2 00 p. M. This afternoon, to 5 00 p. M. And that means a 45mileperhour wind speed in the center of the storm, max wind speed, its producing tropical downpours all the way to the peninsula of florida right now, tampa bay area getting in unique regulatory dated. The temperature inundated. The wind speed went up. Were going to watch this closely through the evening. It has meaning big thunderstorms clouds around it. Well see that coalesce into the center. Its going to track toward florida. Looks like it wants to come around appalachicola, florida. 75mileperhour winds, thats almost hurricane strength, really for all intents and purposes, it can cause damage as a hurricane, which is 74 Miles Per Hour. The center line is always a bone of contention. Dont Pay Attention just to that, because this area is where all the potential tracks can be. Theres going to be some error like this, because you cant pinpoint it exactly. The Technology Just isnt there yet and may never be there, but certainly has improved greatly over the years. So this track comes through the carolinas, no matter what, into the midatlantic states. Now, if it stays over land, it would weaken into a tropical depression or even something called a subTropical Storm. Think noreaster. A typical kind of a storm like that. And then make a move out into the water up hire. Why turning this way . On this track, theres an area of High Pressure that will be sitting up here that may block it from getting on in here. Watch closely over the next couple days to see if this storm is going to make its way here. This is an idea of what all the compute are models are doing, the spaghetti plot. You take the computer models, run them with different parameters to get a con send; and this consensus and this lumps up to florida. That gives you high confidence gentlelady into florida. One already breaking off from the pack. This one breaks off from the pack, these Still Holding together and then, southern new england, most of them are taking pressure. So that gives you increasing confidence that that would happen as well. None of it is set in stone. The track has shifted to the west a bit, this last computer model run, so heres what we know. Its upgraded a Tropical Storm through the gulf of mexico. The track uncertain, but offshore, it would still produce heavy surf, riptide, like sarah was talking about and the potential for heavy rain here in southern new england for the second part of your weekend. Meanwhile this evening, its 80 degrees outside and about 80 degrees, a couple showers that are hanging marshfield for instance. It just moved offshore, so perhaps youre ok now out in the beaches at rexham and other beaches.
