Danvers High School Teacher who was raped and murdered by a 14yearold student has now filed a lawsuit. The town is suing the town of danvers and the school. Byron joins us live with the latest. Byron. Yeah, this is that lawsuit that was filed this morning in lawrence supreme court. In it, the family of Colleen Ritzer asked a pretty basic art Security Camera here at Danvers High School would keep her safe. Reporter it was a newly renovated high school with a brandnew Security System, but that didnt prevent 24yearold math teacher could leap ritzer from being raped and murdered in 2013. Now ritzers family is suing the town of danvers, the school department, the cleaning company for the school, and the nesco Design Partnership, the firm that designed the Security System. Ritzers killer, one of her students 14yearold phillip ladies bathroom after classes had ended and attacked her with a box coulter. Hes now serving 40 years to life in prison the lawsuit says the family is seeking answers to several questions including with a state of the art Security System why was no one monitoring the Security Cameras . How could chism roam in and out of the school visibly showing blood without being noticed . Why was ritzner the academic wing all by herself and whats no comment from the nesco Design Partnership and no word when we reached out to the cleaning company. But the danvers town manager released a statement saying colleens death was a tragedy for the whole community and our hearts go out to the ritzer family. We respect the Legal Process that the family is pursuing. And the School Superintendent statement said we cannot comment on the pending litigation. We are, however, committed to continuing Colleen Ritzers legacy of kindness and dedication to the ritzer family says it is not seeking personal financial compensation from the lawsuit, just compensation to improve School Safety programs. Prosecutors say anna maria batise tail rearended the trooper last night near wellington circle. They say she failed sobriety the trooper was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. We are following more news here today. More than a dozen dogs found living in deplorable condition and now there are new reports that more dogs could be in the same situation. John cuoco has more on how they were rescued. Reporter 10 dogs, eight puppies, rescued from what authorities are describing as a filthy home in pelham, New Hampshire. I dont think that anyone should be living in a house of that nature, i guess. It was everywhere. Reporter when police went into the home Tuesday Morning they reported strong smells of ammonia. A lot of urine in the basement, where some of the dogs were located. The basement attaches to the garage. There were literally pools of urine on the garage floor. Reporter officers found dogs in rooms throughout the house on jonathan road and Police Believe there could be more dogs still out there. There are definitely 15 dogs that are unaccounted for at this point. Reporter and now the department is getting calls from other cities and towns about owner. We got a phone call from the hudson New Hampshire Police Department that there were 5 dogs abandoned and that they belong to the same gentlemen. Two of those dogs needed to go to the vet immediately, and one had to be put down because it was in such rough shape. Shortly after that, a dog showed up as a stray in salem, New Hampshire. Reporter as for neighbors, they cant believe there were that many dogs inside this home. Its surprising that there were that many in there. Ive over the years. Reporter airlines will now be required to disclose their total number of mishandled bags. We spent our whole vacation searching for the luggage basically. Airlines will now be required to have more complete operational data. They will have to reveal incentives or commissions provided by the airlines. Anytime you have a notion of additional government regulations that could increase the cost on airlines or increase the cost on travelers, that people who rely on air travel.
