Defense attorneys raised the issue yesterday morning in the murder trial of philip chism, saying he made an alarming statement. Prosecutors asked the judge if theyre going to be held hostage every time the 16yearold defendant says anything. The judge asked a clinician to evaluate chism but the clinician didnt feel safe in the room with him because chism was curled up, banging his head on the floor. Chisms mother in court started crying when she heard that. Chism is accused of killing his Danvers High School<\/a> teacher, colleen ritzer, two years ago when he was 14 years old. The clinician will try to evaluate him again. The judge will hold a hearing to decide how to proceed. This could be resolved in the courtroom today or this afternoon, maybe tomorrow. But the judge also has the option of having chism evaluated in a Mental Health<\/a> facility for several days. So the judge hasnt decided which way he will go. He would like the clinician to be able to do this first evaluation. As for the jury, theyre not coming to the courthouse today. Jadiann firefighters in charlton released a report that says they did everything they could to save a winery that went up in flames in august. The family who owns the winery has been critical of the firefighters performance and questions their decision to truck water rather than drew it from a nearby pond. The chief says that pond was too shallow and didnt have enough the fire has been ruled arson. Christa also following breaking news out of tennessee right now. Police say a couple of armed students were turned away from the party and then went back and opened fire. One of the students now in critical condition. The other two have minor injuries.
