Lines are not supposed to very long throughout the day but turnout in this primary is expected to set a new record. Essentially youll have several choices, but youre not voting on anything other than the candidate you want to see as the republican nominee. So folks should be in and out of the booth fairly quickly. You can see a list on your screen of what you need to bring with you if you are coming to the polls today. I think the biggest confusion voters have is who is allowed to participate in either the republican primary or the democratic primary do you have to be a registered republican or a to that is South Carolina doesnt have we can choose to vote in either president ial primary, but you cant vote in both. Here to tell us a little bit more is the lexington crepes. Elections officials in lexington county, a republican bellwether, expect 20,000 more votes to be cast saturday than during the 2012 primary. Election officials in heavily republican lexington expect a significantly higher turnout in saturdays primary. County election director dean crepes is predicting just more than 40 percent of the countys 165,000 saturday, up from 28 percent in 2012. That would mean about 66,000 ballots will be cast, years ago. More than 4,100 absentee ballots already have been cast in lexington, more than any other s. C. County, said state Election Commission spokesman chris whitmire.
