In pittsburgh. This is the scene just minutes ago. The shooting happened near bradshare high. Police say the gunman came out of the woods and opened fire, wounding three students. The victims are expected to survive. The gunman has not been caught. Well bring you more information as we get it on this breaking news in pittsburgh. Fighting for survival, after the deadly super typhoon. The military is now trying to keep order as military crews try to speed up aid efforts. Alphonso van marsh with the latest. Reporter more Security Forces are on the streets of tacloban, after people brock into a rice house. Looters hauled away thousands of sacks of food, while hundreds of typhoon victims waited in line, hoping to get something to eat. Disaster specialists are desperate to get supplies and medicine to victims. But Authorities Say its a logistical nightmare. 90 of the port city is in ruins. Taclobans airport is destroyed. With hundreds of bodyoss the streets, there is fear disease spreads. This woman says the smell is overpowering. There are so many dead bodies that snrot been picked up. Forensic teams are preparing for the dead and mass burials. But there are tales of survival. Kids survived 20 miles out to sea. They showed the true filipino certificate spirit. Meteorologist tim williams is live in the First Warning Weather Center with updated temperatures. Good afternoon, everyone. You know, temperatures really are on the cool side, as mary mentioned. And theres not much difference today than yesterday. But certainly with that breeze coming in from the northwest, makes it feel so much colder. 27 now in oakland. 41 in elkton. Temperature at 41 degrees in central maryland is still, even at that, about 5 degrees warmer this time today than yesterday. Winds have been coming in from the northwest. And coming in up to about 10 miles an hour or so. With that, that 41 feels more like 37 degrees. Its feeling just a tad bit above freezing. 19 out in oakland. And even on the shore, its 36 degrees. Convicted boston gangster Whitey Bulger hears from the family members of his victims. Vinita nair reports from boston with the latest. Reporter Whitey Bulger sat with his back to family members of his victims, as they addressed him in court, calling him a rat, a punk, even satan. Steve said he wanted to strangle bulger. He challenged would 84yearold former leader of south bostons notorious winter hill gang, to turn around and look at him. He took off his glasses and was going to glance over when something told him not to. Maybe it was best it didnt happen that way. Reporter in court, David Wheeler held up a photo of his father, roger, who was killed in a hit bulger ordered in 1981. He also criticized the fbi for as he put it, protecting and supervising bulger, before he went on the run for 16 years. Bulger was finally captured in 2011 in santa monica. He kept his back turned to me, just like the fbi and Justice Department have turned their back to me. The twohour hearing ended when the judge asked bulger if he wanted to speak. He simply said no. Even if bulger didnt look at or address the victims families, his attorney was affected by the raw emotion. I sat right next to him. Saw how he responded. And i thought that was in response of the words the daughter said three words to bulger that hes not likely to hear thursday, that the judge could hand down two life sentences. She said i forgive you. Boston, wjz Eyewitness News. Whitey bulger will be sentenced at 10 00 a. M. Tomorrow morning. A mixed verdict in the sex abuse trial in the former aide at the Maryland School of the deaf. Vic is live in the courtroom. 38yearold Clarence Taylor is found guilty of sexually abusing two middle school students. Taylor was accused of inappropriately touching the girls while he worked at the school for the deaf in columbia, between 2008 and 2011. Taylor denies any abuse. He is set to be sentenced in late january. Thank you. A retrial on the four counts of the jury deadlocked is set for the middle of may. Police impersonator, busted by the real police in anne arundel county. Police say this man, 31year old jonathan conner, used a car, equipped with emergency lights to pull a driver over. That driver became suspicious because conner didnt have a uniform or a badge and took off calling police. Conner was arrested and now faces several charges. Maryland delegate and gubernatorial hopeful, heather mizeer selects her running mate. Mizeer is a Montgomery County democrat, running for her partys nomination, against Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown and attorney general doug gansler. The first on the beltway, blocking three righthand lanes. Then another one. A vehicle fire that happened about 30 minutes ago. Northbound 95, it was closed. It is now reopened. The vehicle fire has only two left lanes getting by. But as you can see, the delay is just solid, back to at least moravia road. As far as other accidents go, maryland avenue at 21st street. Franklin street at st. Paul. And moving over to the beltway, the west side inner loop, just creeping along there from 295 to liberty road. And were seeing some slowing as well, on the top side of the inner loop. Watch for congestion there from jones falls expressway, past perring parkway. With an average speed of about 35 miles per hour. Traveling northbound 295, stop and go there, 295 to 195. In new york, im Alison Harmelin. Cracking a martian mystery. Thats what nasa hopes to achieve with a new spacecraft. Alex demetrick reports, it might answer an old question. How did mars lose its air, water, and possibly life . Reporter this is the way nasa thinks mars used to look. Reporter 3. 8 billion years ago, mars was wet and warm. It was raining and probably snowing in the higher elevations. Reporter in other words it was much more earthlike. But then it went from conducive life to the dry, bitter planet today. The question is, where did all of the air and water go. Nasa will launch this spacecraft monday to try to combat that. It will be mars thin, upper at his fear. Actually, dipping down and tasting taking in chemicals from the upper atmosphere. And were trying to see how much is lost to space over time. Specifically by the sun. Reporter the sun is the lead suspect, blasting out highlycharged particles, called solar wind. Strong magnetic field. Something mars does not have. And over a billion years, we think the sun stripped away almost all the air on mars. Reporter at least thats the way the spacecraft is being set up to test. Around the immediate metro area, were seeing temperatures in the upper 30s to about the low 40s. And that shift is happening. Northwest winds, around elkton. Youre starting to see the west wind here now. Eventually, were going to start to see a southwest shift. Thats going to tap into milder air. And all of our neighbors to the south and southwest are warmer than we are by at least 5 degrees or so. Detroit, 38 in chicago. And coming from the west, caps canc city at 49 the memphis and atlanta at 49 and 50 respectively. Thats going to take us into the weekend. As the high stays in control, well have a nice, carved cutout here of dry conditions. All the rain that came through here yesterday and snow that we really did not see. But the precipitation associated with it has pushed well offshore. Then we have a lowpressure system that is going to stay there. Next chance of rain doesnt come until hundred into tuesday. We have a warming trend. Normal high now is 58 degrees. Normal overnight low is 37. Well be close to that the next few days.
