Maryland state Police Say Police were offering a 2,000 reward for information that helps lead to an arrest. Weerm, following a wjz, following a developing story. A Johns Hopkins doctor, under investigation by city police, is dead. Denise has details in the newsroom for us. Reporter 54yearold nikita levys body was found at his home in towson. Police tell us the former Johns Hopkins gynecologist was under investigation for secretly recording patients. According to police, earlier this month, levy was fired by hopkins, when another employee reported the allegations to hopkins security staff. In a statement, they say levy had been photographing patients with personal photo and video equipment. A spokesperson for hopkins says Baltimore County police have told her that levy killed himself. Theres a new person in charge of training. It follows the devastating incident, where a trainee was shot in the forehead. Wjz stays on the story, live at the training academy. And the commissioner plans to speak before the recruits and the training staff. Tomorrow morning, hes going to talk about safety and welcome the new director of the Police Academy. Reporter the fallout is growing after a Police Officer was shot in the head during a Training Exercise last week. Wjz investigations have already revealed procedures were not followed. And the exercise was not properly supervised. Now, the Police Commissioner has chosen a new director of training. Major joseph smith. Its a decision that the commissioner made. I support the commissioners work there. And his actions subsequent to the incident. Reporter major smiths past jobs included Police Academy commander. Firearms training instructor. And internal affairs commander. Reporter major smith was valedictorian of his academy class. Hes been with the department now more than 25 years. Reporter he has a tough job ahead, restoring confidence and performing a sweeping safety review. As part of our investigation, wjz has reported Training OfficerWilliam Scott kern was frustrated his trainee kept raising his head, when he should have remained hidden. So kern put his weapon up into a glass window and fired. He thought he was using a fake weapon with simulator bullets. Instead, it was his real service weapon. The key is there are mistakes. We all agree with that. It was a cloud over city hall. And in the police department. Reporter the commissioner explained the shakeup in training leadership, saying, as we investigate the facts of this horrific tragedy, its imperative that we put our best leaders in front to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again. But theres actually warmer air that it starts moving our way. By tomorrow morning, its knock a lot warmer than we saw this morning. We were at 20. Right now, were at 40. 39 in ocean city. 42 in ocean city. Theres rain out to the west of us. Well see some of that heading our direction. With that frontal system, it will get eventually colder. Jessica kartalija explains how the incident is causing widespread outrage. Outrage. Reporter it happened on a flight from minneapolis earlier this month. Now the man is facing federal charges. Reporter when Jessica Bennett and her 2yearold adopted son jonah, took their seats next to joe hundley, their flight got off to a rocky start. I said, oh, were sitting next to you. And he just basically rolled his eyes and growled at us. Reporter hundley allegedly began complaining that jonah was too big to sit on his mothers lap, becoming more outspoken as the flight continued. He was noticed with his comment. He would turn my light back on, after i turned it off. Kind of saying he was the staff in regards to my son. So i took us out of the situation and we stood by the back bathroom. Reporter jessica stood with jonah for 90 minutes only returning for the landing. When they began to land, jonah began to cry. He lookedda the me in a really hateful way and said fing [ bleep ]. Reporter shocked, she questioned hundley. I said, what did you say . He then pushed up against her space and repeated himself. When she pushed back, he slapped jonah across the face. Hundredly is now charged with assault, punishable up to a year in jail. While jonah suffered only a minor scrape, his mother worries about longterm damage. He has suffered effects from this for sure. Thats also due to an accident at the beltway. Its definitely contributing. The other problem on northbound 95, its heavy there, on the 32 beltway on the southwest side. Top side inner loop, not too bad there. Minor slowdown there as you approach the harrisburg expressway. Accidents include two in pasadena. Mountain road at folly road. Bay side boulevard, at cook farm road. And back to Baltimore City, West Franklin at wheeler avenue. As far as your drive times go, everything on the beltway moving pretty normally. And i think nobody thinks about the role she played in his life. The winner of the oratory contest is Joshua Campbell. Words cannot explain how excited i was. He is thanking one woman for his win. How did you incorporate the relationship you have with your mother into your speech. I would say that im a good student and i do well in school. But i wouldnt say that thatsault about me and all about my studying habits and all about what i do. Because i feel like my mom is like 75 of that. I was very surprised. Reporter his mother said sunday was her first time hearing the speech. I was really blessed to hear that what i do and what i have been doing, homeschooling them and just doing the mom thing, has had an impact on him. Beginning to bring in milder air. Theres a lot of warm air. In fact, temps in southern virginia right now, near 50 degrees. We wont get that warm. And overnight, well drop back into the upper 20s. But during the morning, our temperatures will be increasing. So it will be a lot warmer tomorrow morning than it was this morning. 22 degrees. Tomorrow morning, probably low to mid30s. Antomorrow afternoon, mild air here. 38 in kansas city. There is a front right through here. And that is bringing showers. But much colder air just behind that front. 21, 13, and zero. Up at winnipeg. So well have a warmup tomorrow, with showers. And the front comes through. And well see colder temps. But it will be dryer, come wednesday. It will be windy, too. Because low pressure up across the great lakes is going to move well to our north. It will drag that front across the region. Well see clouds increasing tonight. By morning, cloudy skies.
