Art had many chances to leave baltimore but he liked this town so much that he decided to stay. Now baltimore will be paying their respects to back to art. Art donovan made his name as a feared member of the baltimore colts, winning two championship. To friends and fans, the lineman, a gentle giant. Probably the most loved player that ever played here. Not only here, but throughout the nfl. He had more fun than he was allowed to have. Donovan grew up in the bronx. Those who knew him said you would never know. He was a piece of this community. All those guys, they were that blue collar mentality with the colts. Donovan stayed in the spotlight well after his playing days were done. Voted into the hall of fame in 1968. Then came fame on the talk show circuit. I remember the first year i played, 1950 with the colts. The way they cut us was very simple. We got off a plane in baltimore. We played a game against green bay. Nobody wanted to get off the plane because the coaches were standing down on the ramp and as you come by say youre hired, you made the team. Of course, donovan also had a friday football segment right here on wjz. These guys are making a million dollars, theyre supposed to catch the ball. A baltimore legend. The Baltimore County woman accused of hiring a hit man to kill her husband said she had to or he would have killed her. Wjz stays on this story. Derek valcourt was in the courtroom as karla porter testified in her own defense. Have you ever seen him before . No. During her video taped Police Interrogation karla porter repeatedly lied about her involvement in the murder of her husband, ray, at first blaming a robber. Eventually she confessed the planning it. I just wanted someone to hit him for me. I didnt want any of this to happen. I didnt. What happened, karla . He was being really mean. Porter admits she enlisted the help of several people, including her family, to hire Walter Bishop to kill her husband in march of 2010 at the gas station. Everybody talked about what a wonderful man he was but he hit me. Karla porter took the stand thursday to detail years of physical and verbal abuse. She said he punched and shoved her, threw things at her, slammed her head into walls and floors and held a gun to her head threatening to kill her. Porter told jurors she lived in constant fear. It was getting so bad i knew that ray was going to kill me. I just wanted to kill him first. Ray and karla porters daughter took the stand to testify she witnessed her father verbally abusing her mother. Prosecutors suggesting shes just trying to help her mother out and suggesting karla porter is making up those stories of physical abuse. The other five defendants are already serving prison sentences. A Howard County man getting the maximum since of 30 years for killing her. Christine jarretts body went undiscovered for 21 years. It was earlier in the year a jury convicted Robert Jarrett of Second Degree murder. One top doctor reverses his decision on medical marijuana. Dr. San jay gupta is speaking out about the switch he made. Kai jackson explains how it can impact the issue here in maryland. The use of marijuana has been controversial for years. In 2013 maryland pass ed ed a law legaling medical marijuana. I feel like it will cut down on my pain. Some critics say it has a placebo effect at best or question whether its recreational in nature. It definitely is going to be another day that replays like yesterday when you consider that any of the rain that comes down could be heavy. Its the dew point and the moisture that fuels that through the afternoon. Right now light showers across the region. Much of that has lifted north of the state line and into pennsylvania. The creatures of the ocean are always ours at the national aquarium. Yesterday was the grand opening of their new black tip reef exhibit. Sharks, sting rays and brighten colored fish have a new home. The exhibit is the Worlds Largest rep la cal of the Great Barrier reef. Here is mary bubala. The 260,000 salt water reef is about to be invaded. The most important i needed to know before i got in is that the sharks arent in yet. For now the black tip reef is 4,000 pieces of artificial coral, a few small tropical fish, a 500 pound sea turtle and me ready for an underwater adventure. Its a little chilly. Along with snoshg snorkeling were going dive under. Holly burr hand is my instructor and guide. What should we be looking for . Float around, be calm so the fish will come and look at you. Then you get to see the turtle. Were off and headed below the surface. Its a rare stunning up close eye of the what the barrier roop would reef reef would look like. She seems at home floating peacefully in the water and not seeming to mind the company. She had a few days to adjust. The sharks arent in yesterday. When they get in you have divers.
