It is just the amount. We are backing off that a little bit. Were not that much less than what i thought was going to happen. We are going to see some snow tonight in the overnight hours. Now that becomes a wintry mix as we get into the monday a. M. Hours. What that means is we will see some sleet and freezing rain. That freezing rain obviously the enemy of drivers everywhere, and monday, were going to see that change over once again, mainly into rain. And so we actually look pretty good on the back half of monday heading into tuesday. Although we could be seeing some potential Flooding Issues in tuesday night. As of right now, heres what were looking at, the Winter Weather has already pushed into the area. I know we see this white already stretching down into charlotte. Now, keep in mind, we talked about this earlier. That it is falling from the sky, but the air closer to the surface is fairly dry, and so a lot of this is actually evaporating before it actually touches the ground. You guys may be seeing a few snow flakes. You think you would be see widespread snow happening at this point, but you can see where these areas around mount holly, where it is starting to turn, between huntersville and charlotte, thats where we are starting to see some snow hitting the surface. You can see the darker grays, stony point, taylorsville, and to the north, we are starting to get the darker gray, thats where we are seeing it hit the surface. This is the area where we will the ground, its been very cold here over the last week. So anything that hits the ground is freezing, it is going to stick at this point. But were still not looking for a lot of accumulation tonight. When we talk about snow totals, the northern most, not a big surprise, should see the biggest accumulations, 2 to 4 inches for the area in blue. Area in light blue from lincolnton to the north, 1 to 3 inches is possible. Everybody in white, were talking about really about an inch or less. Some spots less than half an inch or even quarter of an inch the further to the south you go. More likely to see Something Like ice. Those ice totals still dont look like they will be very heavy. That southern amount between. 01 and. 1. That takes us up to lincolnton. Keep in mind, quarter of an inch or more on the road is very very dangerous out there. So we encourage you to be extremely careful. Again, cold outside. 28 degrees with winds out of the east northeast at 8 milesanhour. Want to just track here over the next little bit. I want to show you whats happened. This warm front really is key here. Warm front wasnt in play, we would see all this coming down as snow. But it is moving up to the north. We will see this transition into that freezing rain. This is 7 20 a. M. In the morning. Probably going to be seeing some freezing rain at that point. We get into the afternoon hours, were going to see off and on chances for showers. After this that warm front is through the area. Anything we see after that should largely come down as rain. This takes us into monday night at 10 09. From that point in through tuesday morning, we are expecting a lot of rain to fall over the area because the ground is cold. Its hard. We dont expect a lot of that rain to penetrate. We could be looking at some Flooding Issues tomorrow morning on your way into work.
