New details on a late night fire that ripped through a local landmark in boone county. The fire happened at 9 00 at the the ohio river. The building, which dated back to 1831, was closed at the time of the fire. Someone passing by saw the flames and called the fire department. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting through the roof and front windows. Crews were working to put the fire out and some resident managed to grab the sign off the moments later, the building collapsed. Residents say they were heart broken to see a piece of their history destroyed. It was an historical treasure in kentucky. It was also a Community Center for everybody that lived around here. It was the heart and soul of our community. Everybody that lives within a 10 to 15 mile radius of rabbit hash would come down and claim it as their own. Jonathan Officials Say the icy conditions and the merchandise in the store made the fire hard to put out. A fire at a twofamily home in oakley is under investigation. Officials say the fire started on the second floor of a house on millsbrae avenue saturday afternoon. Neighbors say the car didnt make a loud sound when it crashed into the pole. A neighbor called and said that somebody had wrecked into ran to the window to see what was going on. Reporter they thought the person had possibly lost control of the car. Neighbors were horrified to learn someone had been shot and killed on their street.
