It looks warm out there. The color in the sky gives you the hint of warm. Its also misty and you get a sense of unsettled, like that wind we had yesterday. Am i going too far with this . Jennifer read into it whatever you want. Its all good. Jonathan 50 degrees right now, fantastic after the stretch what was felt like zero. Jennifer coming out of snow and cold at the beginning of the week, 50 now. Go. Look how the color is getting more intense and concentrated as we move west. Jennifer interesting that we generally scattered clouds out there this morning. There will be a good amount of sunshine with the clouds for the late part of the morning and into our afternoon. Should improve from here. This morning, there is some fog, though, in spots. Didnt see any on citycam that was problematic. Were seeing visibility across Butler County especially down less than a half mile for most of the region from hamilton up to middletown. Take a look right now. Temperatures, theres a big variation. If you have fog, youre around 40. Winds, youre around 50. Thats the case at the International Airport and at the station in mt. Auburn. Calm winds in hamilton. They are down a little bit at five miles an hour. In lunken, they were calm earlier. Allowing the visibility to drop back to threeten they ths of a mile in hamilton. At lunken, they had a half mile for visibility, now back to seven miles. Some spots with fog, surprising considering the strong winds last evening. Calm winds in some locations this morning. Jonathan weve seen on and off breezes this morning. But winds are definitely calming down. Theres old glory not moving at all. Some gusts yesterday reached more than 50 miles per hour. Strong winds knocked over trees, power and phone lines across Greater Cincinnati yesterday. Wlwt news 5s emily wood has the cleanup under way in clermont county. Reporter its almost too dark to see, but a blue tarp now covers the roof of this familys garage here in Miami Township. Luckily, no one was inside when the tree fell, but it did prompt almost immediate cleanup. Workers for earls tree company happened to be in the right place at the right time. Before this 30yearold silver maple came crashing down on to the homeowners garage, crews were just down the street trimming trees. We were working in the neighborhood, and then we saw the tree come down and we came over to help them out. Reporter the home owners say luckily, they were at work and no cars were in the garage when snagging and gutters on the side of the house. Any damage that was done was structural. There was no electrical damage, no lines were hit. Electric or gas or anything. So i was very happy. I mean, this is minor considering what it could have been. Reporter even as crews were working on weber road, less than half a mile away, part of cook road was closed after a tree took down power and phone lines, all part of mother natures unpredictability. I knew it was supposed to be nice high temperatures and sunny. Would be here. Reporter the home owners say while this was a hassle for their friday night, it did not ruin their friday night plans. Reporting from Miami Township in clermont county, emily wood, wlwt news 5. Jonathan a frightening situation in loveland. A tree fell on a truck while a driver was going down ibold take a look at this. Not a huge tree, but imagine that thing coming straight across your windshield. Two people inside the truck at the time. Fortunately, it missed where they were sitting. No one was hurt. The truck is going to need a little bit of repair. Power problems, much like the winds, are dying down now after a peak of 9,000 outages around the area, duke energy is reporting more than 400 active outages around town. Most of those are in Butler County. New details on a late night crash in avondale. It happened around 11 00 last night in the 4100 block of reading road. This is near police headquarters. Police say a 39yearold man driving a cadillac was going south and crossed the center line, hitting a tow truck. The driver of the cadillac is at u. C. Medical center in critical condition. The driver of the tow truck was not hurt. Police say speed and impairment appear to be factors in the crash. The coroner has identified the body of a man found dead in west chester. Police say 28yearold eric pefley was last seen alive he was on the departments missing persons list. Thursday night, teenagers walking the trail at keehner park found pefleys body in a wooded area. Late last night, we saw a bunch of cops parked up and down the street right here, and theyre taking like atvs and stuff down into the park. This morning, i saw a police dog go down there as well. Jonathan police say the trail where pefleys body was discovered leads up to the susan springs culdesac. They havent said how he died or if foul play is suspected. Anyone with information is asked to call the west Chester Police department. Jonathan welcome back. Justice antonin scalias funeral will take place today. Last night, Justice Scalia was laying in repose in the supreme courts great hall. The president and first lady paid their respects. Scalias former clerks stood watch around his casket all night as he was lying in repose. Justice scalias fans created a makeshift memorial to him at the bottom of the court steps. President obama is urging states to make it easier for people to vote. President obama told a group of house meeting that voting systems need updating to reflect the way people live today. Hes cited a law taking effect this year in illinois that he says will expand early voting and allow people to register and vote on election day. The state department has released more than 500 more documents from former secretary of state Hillary Clintons e mail account. Portions were upgraded to confidential but none was classified at the time the e mails was sent. The state Department Plans to finish making them public on february 29, the day before the critical super tuesday primaries. Lets talk local weather. Not too much of a problem. Well break out into more sunshine, late morning to midday. Turn the radar on to fog detection mode. Across Butler County, northern hamilton county, fog around a half to one mile for visibility, then extending out into central parts of indiana. Weve gone from yesterday evening, strong winds, to calm winds in spots this morning. Leading to some fog, especially again in Butler County. Note for hamilton, the temperature down in the valley with the light winds, down at 40 degrees. The coolest temperature on the map, compare id to the International Airport, temperatures at 50 degrees. The winds are a touch higher in spots this morning, allowing temperatures to stay up at the airport. Everyone dry, even with the scattered clouds around. Nothing on the radar. Well keep it that way for a good portion of today. 50 degrees, officially, at the airport. The south wind, 8 miles an hour. No observed wind gusts this morning. Dont expect the winds to pick up this afternoon. Like yesterday. The forecast today, the same thing, but lighter winds with partly cloudy skies. Were on the south side of a boundary to encourage warm temperatures to return this afternoon. We also have an increase in moisture as the low pressure works in. It will send more moisture up from the south. By tonight, rain builds in for the region, especially the southern counties. Well have the more widespread rain and higher rainfall totals. But we will see showers areawide. Then theyll try to push out tomorrow afternoon as the low pressure exits. Temperatures tomorrow behind the front drop off about ten degrees. Highs in the mid 50s tomorrow. The second boundary, another cold front sunday night will drop us into the mid 40s come monday. Well be stepping back each day for the temperatures. Heres a look at rainfall. Rain mainly in the southern looking at quite a bit of cloud cover and showers past 8 00 and 9 00 tomorrow morning. Into midday, rain bands lingering. It will take until sunday afternoon to clear out. Today, mid 60s. Partly cloudy, dry. The rain doesnt arrive until after midnight. We drop off to 49. Behind it tomorrow, 55. She received Honorable Mention for Girls Lacrosse and is a twoyear varsity letter winner she tutors for a fifth grade class, is part of symphonic band and is part of principals council. Karen has a gpa of 4. 0 unweighted. Matt prewitt is a senior and is on the football team. Hes a threeyear varsity letterman and threetime academic all southwest ohio conference. The march was organized in part by reverend jesse jackson. Hundreds participated in the roughly one mile march to the flint water plant. Some protesters also demanded the gosk vernor set down. The citys waters source was changed in 2014 and the lead was leached out of the pipes with the water. Causing for high concentrations of lead to be in the citys water supply. A Class Action Lawsuit is now in the works. The water in sebring, ohio, now safer to drink. The epa announced the latest tests show all but four tap water samples contained lead below the threshold. The epa says running the tap for a few minutes eliminates detectible lead from the water. Sebrings Water Company says it wasnt clear the lead was an emergency. This is a technical adjustment to the plant. Do what you need to do and submit your reports. Jonathan sebrings water system says the changes in the water line purge could resolve the lead issues for good in the next three weeks.
